Cover Song: "Wagon Wheel" (Patreon)

Bob Dylan co-wrote it. Darius Rucker had a huge hit with it. Gundo, i.e., Daniel Gunderson of the filk band Toyboat, loves playing it at jams. I... thank all of them for making sure I knew it.

Headin' down south to the land of the pinesI'm thumbin' my way into North CarolineStarin' up the road and pray to God I see headlights

I made it down the coast in seventeen hoursPickin' me a bouquet of dogwood flowersAnd I'm a-hopin' for Raleigh, I can see my baby tonight

So, rock me mama like a wagon wheelRock me mama any way you feelHey... mama rock meRock me mama like the wind and the rainRock me mama like a southbound trainHey... mama rock me

Runnin' from the cold up in New EnglandI was born to be a fiddler in an old time string bandMy baby plays a guitar, I pick a banjo nowOh, north country winters keep a-gettin' me downLost my money playin' poker, so I had to leave townBut I ain't a-turnin' back to livin' that old life no more

So, rock me mama like a wagon wheelRock me mama any way you feelHey... mama rock meYeah, rock me mama like the wind and the rainRock me mama like a southbound trainHey... mama rock me

Walkin' to the south out of RoanokeI caught a trucker out of Philly, had a nice long tokeBut he's a-headin' west from the Cumberland GapTo Johnson City, TennesseeAnd I gotta get a move on before the sunI hear my baby callin' my name and I know that she's the only oneAnd if I died in Raleigh, at least I will die free

So, rock me mama like a wagon wheelRock me mama any way you feelHey... mama rock meOh, rock me mama like the wind and the rainRock me mama like a southbound trainHey... mama rock meSo, rock me mama like a wagon wheelRock me mama any way you feel (oh, I wanna feel)Hey... mama rock me

Rock me mama like the wind and the rainRock me mama like a southbound trainHey... mama rock me
