Let me know if you have any feedback.

Aspiring Sage

Thank you for the great chapters. The hoped for dragon fight will be very exciting and man, I can't wait to see what you do with Larso and how the new king will act! Very fun story lines! Can't wait for more. Thanks.

Spiderfox

Can you tell us when you're going to post an updated version of Bk4 Ch 16-18 with the new part? Thanks

ivyveritas

I'll probably give it a few days, so I'm not spamming you guys too often, then I'll put up a new post with chapters 16-21 combined, with all the scenes reordered.

Spiderfox

Thanks that will work great. Love the story

Jesse

Great set of Chapters. I also really like the additional scene with Ariadne and Sarette.

Great set of chapters, Ivy! Looking forward to the conversation between Rusol and Razai as well...

So, quick question Ivy: are your full sized dragons like Smaug, highly intelligent creatures sitting on a treasure horde, or more like those young dragon whelps they fought earlier, semi mindless animals hunting prey and seeking territory? And, as a follow up, do dragon materials sell well in-universe, given that they are most likely very rare to find/collect? Was wondering if maybe your Eighth Warden might manage to tame a mighty beast, or if not perhaps earn quite a bit of gold off it’s rare corpse…

Dragons aren't sentient, but have a certain level of animal cunning--partly instinctual, partly taught from mother to hatchling (like a wolf teaching her cubs to hunt), partly learned from experience. As for using or selling dragon body parts, I'd probably lean toward no, for a few reasons. Though, of course, we don't even know yet if that question will be pertinent.

So many questions.... 1) Will Shavala join up with Corec and team in time? 2) Will the Staff of Life allow Shavala to fight the dragon? 3) Will the Staff of Life be able to communicate with the dragon? 4) Will Ellerie's Beam spell be able to pierce dragon hide? 5) Will Shavala tell the elders about the Staff of Life? 6) Will Razai be able to reach out to Rusol? 7) Will the anticipated Corec Vs. Rusol fight morph into Wardens Vs. Gods? 8) We have read about all the other new Gods, except Borrisur, Irisis, Allosur and Zachal. Would some more info be forthcoming about these gods' activities? Would Emperor Kono be in touch with Irisis? 9) Everywhere, Corec is making friends and allies. Would they turn up to help him against Rusol / Vatarxis / Pallisur? 10) Will Ariadne or Bobo (or the dragon) be Corec's 8th Bondmate? Just can't wait for the next batch of chapters, Ivy!!!!

I wouldn't mind being spammed :D

Well, to questions 1,2,3, and 5, it wouldn’t really be sporting if Shavala didn’t join the fun, and I readily anticipate a final conversation between that G named Druid and her about needing to aid the outside world. Also, as the old saying goes “there’s more than one way to skin a cat”, meaning that Shavala could do more than harm/hurt the dragon, like perhaps redirecting fire away from allies or summoning wind storms to ground the creature instead of striking directly with lightning. As for 7, 8 and 9, I suspect that should Corec and his rebel misfits manage to either drive off or kill the dragon, the entire political landscape of Aravor will change dramatically almost overnight to the point we may not recognize it much. Depends on how much influence Ivy is thinking of giving to Corec in the aftermath. Regarding the bondings, I’m actually somewhat surprised that Corec and Ari haven’t had a more in-depth discussion about things, especially their similar styles of magic casting and combat. The most important answers needed are HOW and WHY, and that Q&A session should be…interesting to say the least :0!

Another question about the realms, Ivy... Demons in the demonic realm and Gods in the Divine realm seem to "be able to see into" or "are aware of" events and happenings in the mortal realm. Is that a magical ability or is it only the nature of the realms? Also, demons are said to have to expend considerable energy to enter the mortal realm, but Gods seem to be able to cross into the mortal realm easily enough. Do they also have to expend a lot of energy? Is the demonic realm an equivalent for Hell? and the divine realm an equivalent of Heaven?

ivyveritas

Things we know about those two realms: 1. The divine realm was a featureless void before the totems learned to visit the mortal realm, and discovered that reality included more than what they'd known before. We don't know what they did with that knowledge, but we do know that the new gods crafted their own domains (we see The Lady's domain when Pallisur visits her). 2. The demonic realm is sometimes referred to as "the hells," and there's a demonborn curse, "the hells of my fathers." Other mortals sometimes refer to "hell," singular, but no demon or demonborn has ever referred to the realm in that way. It's hinted that the demon lords, or at least Vatarxis, can craft their own domains within the realm the way that the gods do in the divine realm. 3. We don't have any information on how the demons or the gods see into the mortal realm. We have ample evidence of the gods visiting the mortal realm. We've only seen the totems visit the mortal realm while wearing physical bodies, though we don't know if those are mortal bodies like the ones crafted by the new gods, or if they're something else. When Fox crossed over and back, it did cost him some energy. We don't see the totems cross over as often, though that could be because they've left their old realm to the new gods. In addition to the new gods' mortal bodies that they seem to create at will, so they can live out (part of) a normal life, we've also seen The Lady and Demesis visit "as they are," a sort of invisible ghostly presence. We've seen The Lady do it twice. The second time was her discussion with Demesis in the Tarwen family crypt. The first time was in the same location ... when she taught five-year-old Corec how to cast a light spell without a spell book. We don't know what the gods can see beyond that. It must be *something*, but they don't seem to have an all-knowing presence. Though the ability to see potential futures helps to negate that. As for the demon lords, again, they must be able to see *something*, but they also obviously aren't all-knowing. Vatarxis knows some things, but he also has blind spots and uses agents like Razai to get info.
