I’m curious of how surprised the guards and other members of staff seem to be, did she not tell the people participating in this execution who it would be? I doubt it was short notice, the way the improvised sacrifice was. I like that she’s talking him up with such fondness, I’d assumed she would turn around and blame him for it all as a convenient scapegoat to the public. Perhaps she’ll explain this as a mercy kill for one bitten by the snake, a way to salvage his soul (even if we know it wouldn’t work).
