I honestly don't know how anyone gets Mikaila to do ANYTHING. She can phase through walls, she can mute people and shoot energy out of her hands. How do you meaningfully ground or punish a teenager like that.

That's some impressively fucked-up patriarchal honor culture bullshit if he'd really be expected to murder a teenage girl for fighting back in public. First thought was: "I bet that's what the Coppers would expect but for most (of the vanishingly small number for whom this actually happenes) it'd be more like [affronted gasp] -> 'You're lucky I'm not summarily executing you like I'm sposedta, young lady!' -> additional public battery of she who dared to raise a hand back." But Alderode is the kind of place where priests slow-roast heretics in cages in public for a few days, so I would not be surprised if that really is a plausible outcome. Mikaila having the sheer personal power to forestall, circumvent or stalemate this kind of thing is narratively interesting... and emotionally nerve-wracking. I feel for you, terrifying wizard-warrior! If you snap and start melting Aldishmen with your mind, they could not have had it coming any more.

I think officially Will is supposed to affronted that she stuck her nose into manful bidness, and I can't imagine this fucked-up patriarchal culture would take kindly to anyone trying to interfere with the ancient art of familial violence - pretty sure Uncle Dickhead would go all "how dare thee?!" Maybe the sheer rarity of what Mikaila is introduces some uncertainty, and Will might speak to that, how she is the only one who could have almost pulled this off for Ssaelit honor... but I don't think Will is one who'd attempt to untangle those cords.
