Shaensigin pragmatically gobbling down Vampire on her way outta Dodge is emblematic of senet beasts v humans, to me. Maybe to humans he was a powerful rebel and leader of men, impossibly old, cut down in a humiliating manner tragically unbefitting his long and dramatic life. To Shaensigin he's a snack.

Anyway, go Lemon go!

Ashley, you're letting your pretty boy-love blind you. Vampire was *always* a snack.

Well, Will's arm is a bit raised, so he'll lose it with that blade on the upward motion. Next page, I would guess

"HEY! YOU GONNA EAT YO ̶C̶O̶R̶N̶B̶R̶E̶A̶D̶ GIANT DEAD DUDE?" I know one day I'm going to wake up dead, and Dangerous Dave the bastard cat will be eating me. I expect him to at least be salting my corpse with tears as he chokes me down though.

As our mad little troupe is about to part ways, it makes me wonder. Does the Etalarche Curse include something that allows Alds to recognize the target on sight? Obviously everyone in the current scene already knew who Roger was, but would they have known him just walking down the street? And the curse only affects those in Alderode, but does it stay with them when they cross out of range of the dammakhert? Would an Ald who had been inside Alderode when the curse was cast still attack Roger if they later encountered him in Cresce?

Will we ever know for certain how much of what Vampire was saying to Roger at the end was truth and how much was the curse? I suspect there was a lot more truth to it than Roger is willing to accept, but it's hard to be sure. Unless proven otherwise I'll believe he set Roger up and used him, just like he said he did.
