Duane is being intentionally abstruse, and Lemuel ain't gettin' it, but then Duane doesn't want him to get it and doesn't want to get it himself. So let's go back to talking about War! War's safe!

This scene was exceptionally difficult to lay out. Had to rely on everything but Duane's face to express his thoughts, and he keeps flashing back to earlier, preferred versions of his brother. The things he's seeing are also terrifically meaningful, but I'm not of a mind to spell it all out, haha.

I love the creeping sinister feel in panel 6, along with Lemon's expression gradually changing through the panels too.

God damn Ashley this is a fucking page. Hard to properly capture what it's expressing and what I'm feeling but it's doing it fantastically.

Ach, the fact that this moment is something Duane wants most but also fears more than anything... Damn good writing. I get the feeling Lemuel will either reject Duane as a mere spectre or a new kind of plod, an utter abomination. Or he may take pity on him, running him through to seek closure for the both of them. Duane would probably be happy to be put to rest by his brother, but writing rules stipulate he can't die today, thus begging the question, what will be Duane's reason to live from now on? Maybe a flashback to Sette, "but they ain't friends no more," or he might continue his mission of hunting the silver alone before it gets to the coast. Whatever his reason for continuing to exist, I wonder how Lemuel and Duane's interaction will end here? Will Duane have to flee from his family again? Good grief, I've already written a paragraph... Leysa's expression is...difficult to grasp at this angle (harder to draw! I took an anatomy for the artist class and I've appreciated your work so much more ever since!)...what is her expression there? Or rather, what are you looking to convey? And the figure outside the window? Do we know who that is, or is that a mystery? And yes, kudos. I know when I really appreciate something when it becomes really important to me to make sure that I'm understanding it correctly :D

I've got a hunch Lemuel's going to be against any idea of Duane trying to... interfere... with the progress of that silver abomination. Or I'm wrong, and he'd DELIGHTED to send the assassinated Adelier off to chase it.... IN CRESCE.

Hehe PLOD twist: Lem actually practised creating plods with Duane's memory, and this is not the final "right" one, but just the 3rd discarded try. It broke loose after Lem lost his temper in a late hour, and was deemed lost, until now.

Lem lugs him onto the vliegeng, gags him, they fly back to Alderode, everyone else dies in the fire. THE END

God this page has so many layers! Fantastic job on this one, really impressive.

I see Simon has much, much more rough and wavy hair here in this direct flashback on Duane's part than he had in the dream that Sette experienced. Really makes him look a lot like his uncle. you can REALLY spot that close family resemblance.
