O-oh Sette… Duane’s stricken look in panel 5 drives me nuts. He just saw how she’s actually treated and suddenly her stories feel so…. Different. And Sette’s horror and disgust is nutso making- I wonder when all those are from? What a pair of faces- what a page!

As I understand it, this is the consciousness of current Sette speaking, but at the same time she's got the mental age of a little kid because Duane's walked in on an old memory? That's got to be a headache.

This is darling in such an Unsounded way, which is to say thrashing the heartstrings like a metal band. This may be the most honest Sette's ever been in her tale-telling about life back home! I love the complex little peeks we get at Nary too: can't quite bring himself to be rid of the girl by his own hand or another's. Comfort her fears? Absolutely not. But here's a picture for her pleasure, and he maybe sourced the book too. (I so wish there was time for Sette to show Duane the book!)

A throwback to Sette's vision of human and lion skulls back at the shrine! I wonder if they will meet Sette's lion brother in the Khert or if he managed to get out by now? But then again, the Khert is timeless, so my phrase probably doesn't make sense...

I was trying to make out what Sette's treasures are. The brass knuckles and book of Lion tales are easy, but is that... a shoe? Shirley not. But it would be kind of funny if the whole reason Sette's been barefoot the last [insert Sette age guess -4 here] years is because she has one awesome shoe but can't find another one to match.
