... What even was this episode? XD

I loved it, but felt so odd! It almost felt like a Season 1 episode (NOT a bad thing in my book).

I think this genuinely has the most creepy villain we have seen so far! XD I can't unsee it!!

Hope you guys are having a great week!

As always, if you click the video just after this post, you may need to  download it first.  This should be fixed in a couple of hours!

I have been looking forward to your reaction to this episode for ages considering your channel brand. When Amy was turned back into a human, she was watching a commercial for the Doublemeat Palace before Buffy came down to talk to her. I'm not sure if that's what you were remembering though. You might recognize Lorraine as the actress who plays Chief Vick on 'Psych' (Kirsten Nelson) if you've watched that. That's how I know her at least. You're right that Anya didn't address Halfrek as "Hallie" until after Xander had walked away. It's possible he heard them through the door, but I would classify that as a small goof.

VeggieGamer

Yeah that is a completely fair explanation of the 'Hallie' thing! My brain just gets obcessed with this sort of thing! XD Aaah, I NEW I had heard DoubleMeat Palace before!! Thank you!!

Jake M

You didn't completely dream it, Doublemeat Palace has been mentioned before. When Buffy meets Amy this season, there's an advert for them on the television.

VeggieGamer

I was really hoping I hadn't just dreamt it! XD Thanks!

Jake M

I wonder how the cherry pie compares with the one at Ed's Diner! We need Dale Cooper on the case XD

VeggieGamer

Haha, oh man, I missed that is EXACTLY Cooper's order! I would pay GOOD money to see a spin-off of him visiting Sunnydale!

Jake M

"Diane, I am entering a small town called Sunnydale. There are an awful lot of people out this evening, and they all appear to have some strange dentistry..."

VeggieGamer

"That is damn fine coffin!" - Best I could do...

Jake M

Better than mine 🤣

You’re so right, “what even was that episode?” is the right response. This is a weird and kinda forgettable episode. Been a while since I’ve seen the whole ep and there are some good zingers in there. “Pickle chips” is the name for sliced pickles, the kind with a wavy cut down each side, if you know what I mean? I love the idea of gallons and gallons of dehydrated pickles chips just waiting to be watered.

VeggieGamer

Ah yes!! I assumed it was the sliced ones! I feel like I may have heard them referred to as 'coins', but I could have dreamt that! XD

Claire Eyles

Buffy season 3 "I hear hot dog on a stick is hiring, you will look so cute in that hat"

Maia Brodsky

It's because they're shaped like American chips. You would probably call them crisps lol.

doublemeat palace has been seen before on the TV but it's just a silent commercial that's not focused on at all and i don't think you picked it up. the meat comment you were thinking of was in episode 10, not 11, where willow asks dawn how the burger was on the way to rack's place and dawn says "it was like a meat party in my mouth" before realizing how crazy that sounds lol. you did not dream it, but it wasn't explicitly to do with double meat palace. (i do personally believe they wrote it so in retrospect you'd think that's the burger place they went though, so you may have just applied that) i'm honestly with halfrek. i'm not saying there aren't times where anya needs to be corrected, sometimes she can be overly honest and hurt people, but xander goes further than that and definitely doesn't appreciate how ridiculously out of his league she is. she's smart, she's hilarious, she's ridiculously attractive, she's truly unique, and she's probably one of the most storied people on earth. yet he treats her like she needs to be trained out of being herself. keeping her from being mean makes sense, keeping her from being herself when she's doing literally nothing wrong because it's more normal just makes it clear you don't love the person they truly are, but the person they are without some of the abnormal behaviors they have that make them who they are. just last season he, IN FRONT OF ANYA, said he would love to have a sexbot. he specifically says that it would be great to have someone with no thoughts but to please him. in front of his girlfiend. who has more thoughts than just pleasing him. like he basically says right fucking in front of her that he doesn't like that she has a personality. then after they find out about buffy being in heaven xanya + tillow have an awkward dinner where anya feels uncomfortable and tries to fill the silence with rambly questions. xander, LITERALLY IN FRONT OF HER, goes "you are attractive and have many good qualities" in the sense that he's convincing himself while completely ignoring her questions. like he has to remind himself that she's worth it because of *checks notes* completely normal behavior??? tara being the lovely person she is even responds to this jab by saying "it's totally not stupid to wonder what it was like for buffy," then proceeds to answer the questions as best as she can. all in all xander just over corrects anya. he corrects her when she has genuinely bad behaviors that aren't normal but he also corrects her good or neutral behaviors that aren't "normal" (basically he doesn't want her behaving like someone neurodivergent)

I love and adore this episode. To me, the vibes are perfect and hilarious.

Garry (Not Jerry)

Not a great episode for people called Garry! Still got all my fingers ✋

Was the ultimate twist for Veggie that the meat patties on the Double Meat Medley was actually (mostly) vegan? Whenever I rewatch this epiose I think about a YouTube video I saw a few years back. It was a compilation video of random Buffy bloopers. One had a take from this episode of Buffy saying "Theory number 5. Cat burgers." You hear the director say "cut' off screen then SMG saying "I still think we should do a take of me saying pussy burgers."

Hanneli Norrgard

I do like that this episode shows Buffy want to actually keep her job in the end. She does need money, after all. However, I do find a fast food job to be an odd choice since she would, presumably, need most nights off to go hunting. Maybe she's supposed to be one of those employees who works the early shift, since she doesn't have school. That double shift would pay quite nicely since half of it would be overtime pay (CA requires OT pay after 8 hours in any day).

I personally don't think Hal was trying to put a wedge into the relationship when asking questions, she just truly didn't understand the situation and asked Anya to clarify. Like, Anya herself is a human for some time now and still struggles to figure out how to human. In comes Hal who seems to truly care for Anya but doesn't necessarily understand how people work. She's a vengeance demon, she understands all the bad sides of humanity, but she doesn't understand love and compromises in relationship. So I think her questions are genuine. She tries to understand the situation. And Anya struggles to explain, cause love is illogical., but she tries. She knows what she feels. That's why I love Anya. She tries to logic her way through humanity, which is impossible because people don't make sense. But she doesn't mask to make others more comfortable, she just blurts out her questions and opinions, and I wish we could have her confidence. So in a way that scene is like an alien asking a neurodivergent person to explain human behaviour. But also that scene shows the cracks really well. Xander is not the best boyfriend/fiancee to Anya. Just as he did with Cordelia he tends to belittle and overcorrect her and tends to dismiss her opinion. I do think he truly loved both of them, it just shows his own low self esteem and he tends to project that onto his relationships.

Working fast food myself, I promise it's no where near as creepy in real life, lol! And no we don't process any meat on-site, everything comes prepackaged and we just grill or fry it. :P

Pauline Robertson

I love this episode. it's so weird 😂 The Doublemeat Palace looks very similar to the burger place in Faith, Hope and Trick, where Trick was the one eating an employee. Maybe they shut down after and were bought over by Doublemeat. My theory anyway.😂
