SPOILER ALERT! - If you have not watched the show before, don't read the following review until you have! :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we are, guys! The end of the Water Book. And it COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER!!!

I think this 2 parter has to be the best story so far in the entire show. Everything was perfect, everyone had focus and progression, and when Iroh starts swinging!! MY GOODNESS!

This was action packed, funny when it needed to be, beautiful and utterly heartbreaking. Loved every second of it.

As discussed, it may be a little longer in between this and the start of the next Book, but I will make sure not to keep you waiting too long! :)

Hope you had a great week, guys!!

Oh shit, here we go. I was just looking for something to watch. Day made 😀

Kael Johnsen

I havent watched it yet but im looking forward to it 😊😇

Time

Was listening to Pink Floyd wondering when this video when would drop, cheers!

Rold

Oh man I really understand the people who accidentally spoil or hint at things, love the speculation and comments hahaha so much I want to say just minutes in each time. I am sooooo here for this and season 1-2!!!! Got my snacks for this beautiful finale. Edit: Zhao was grabbed by the ocean spirit not Aang, Aang did the whole kaiju fish through the combination of the ocean spirit in rage over the moon spirit and Aang's Avatar spirit, Just such an awesome episode too much to talk about, so many details visually, script etc etc. Also, the kaiju spirit was predicted by Aang as a joke in the previous episode! And the ocean spirit only pushes the water, since the moon pulls.

Cari Ann

Yes the fire intro girl is the girl from the flashback who smiled while zuko got burned, more on her later. So glad you did these together, theres only 2 more 2 parter before the final 4 parter and they are in season 3, so we have a bit before you should do 2 again.

loftypenalty91

This finale is absolutely fantastic. I'm really looking forward to your reaction to the rest of the series because books 2 and 3 absolutely blow book 1 out of the water.

Cari Ann

I cried my eyes out when Yue turned into the moon too. This show is just so damn good and yes it does keep getting better and better. Zhou the moon slayer is a failure, at least he just accepted it which was his criticism that he had for zuko, he didn't try to fight the Ocean spirit taking him. So the Netflix series is a live action series of the show, so you can't watch it until after you finish this, they added season 2 things to season 1 and mixed a bunch of stuff up so its best to just know everything from this before going into that. You could watch the movie now, the one that everyone hates, that only covers book 1 water, I think ill just check out your intro and closing for that and skip the movie though lol once was enough for me. I do think you should watch Korra and I think you will enjoy it, but it is a different show than this in my mind, the best thing from the avatar world is ATLA.

itz_Cherise

These episodes were great but like...that was Book 1 great. You're on to Book 2, and it's waaay better.

loftypenalty91

There are actually 2 more official 2 parters before the finale, and there are a couple of times that episodes were released together but aren't officially 2 parters.

Cari Ann

Oh thats right I forgot the boiling rock was a 2 parter too. Thanks!

Cari Ann

I edited my comment

Eve

Your reaction to the last scene makes me sooo excited for season 2!! 🤣 Book 2 has great storytelling and new characters so I can't wait aghh!!

Steven

Amazing episodes! I cannot wait to see your reactions to things that happen in Book 2. You're in for a treat, it's like watching the show again for the first time with your reactions

Deadshot1999

When Zhau got grabbed by the water that was not Aang anymore (he was dropped off in the shot before) but just the ocean spirit taking revenge on Zhau for killing the moon spirit.

Deadshot1999

Okay so to make it clear. There is indeed a movie but its very bad...I don't know if you should even watch it tbh or maybe just to see how bad it is LMAO It got so much hate that they did not make a 2nd or 3rd movie for the other 2 books. Then there is the Legend of Korra which is another cartoon series that takes place after The last Airbender series that I think is also a great series. And then there is a Netflix avatar the last Airbender Live Action adaptation series that some people like some people don't that so far only has book 1 with some things of book 2 mixed into it but is confirmed it will get a book 2 and 3 as well. (I personally think its good cuz its an ADAPTATION/reimagining so not 100% true to the original series that most complains are about but it still follows the main plot, though the OG series you watching now is waaaay better and absolutely phenomenal. I still very much look forward to what they do with book 2 and 3) You should watch this after you finished the entire series though. I'd even say watch Korra first.

Deadshot1999

This finally of book 1 was amazing but look forward to your book 2 and 3 reactions. I don't want to spoil so lets just say I LOVE Zuko's sister as a villain. She might be my favorite villain from any series ever... definetely top 5... might be biased cuz Avatar is my favorite series of all time...

Flufux

The whole giant fish monster thing (often called Koizilla) at the end was not actually Aang, but more the Ocean Spirit possessing Aang's body to take revenge on Zhao and his men for killing the Moon Spirit. Remember, Aang is the bridge to the Spirit World...but that bridge goes both ways.

Rold

Avatar The Last Airbender - Original animation The Last Airbender - Really really bad movie of the first season, but watch after book 2 The Legend of Korra - Next avatar, animated series Netflix Avatar The Last Airbender - Live action series adaptation/remake of original, currently season 1 of 3 is out but only watch after fully finished original. Sadly not great but has cool elements and hopefully they adapt to the feedback :) And another animated movie and animated series are releasing in the coming years.

Xeph

Just to clarify, the live action movie is the thing everyone hates, that covers book 1, but you should probably wait until after season 2 to see that. It is BAD though. Then there is a new live action remake in the form of a netflix tv show, currently only season 1 is out, and it was okay, they are currently making both season 2 and season 3 of that. Each season covering effectively 1 season of the animated show. You shouldn't watch that until after you've finished the animated show, if you do end up watching that.

Cari Ann

What is the reason to watch the crap movie after season 2? I haven't watched it since it came out but was there a spoiler that I can't remember? You can write spoiler first in your reply so veggie wont read it please but I am curious.

Djigo

I'm so glad you're loving the series so far! :D It's such a joy to watch other people watch your favorite show for the first time. It's as close as you get to seeing it for the first time again yourself. My favorite moment of the finale has to be either Iroh talking to Zuko before he leaves to capture Aang or Iroh threatening Zhao. When Iroh gets angry, you know you messed up! Absolutely loved your reactions so far. You really have something to look forward to. It's only getting better from here!

Kael Johnsen

Now ive watched it and something ive been wanting to say but waited untill now is that the show in many ways really starts from this point,

Leah Boerigter

Hey Veggie, glad you had a blast with the finale. My favorite scene is where Aang and the Ocean Spirit join. The music, the black and white turning to blue, the errie way he says, "It's not over." Did you notice that when all was colorless except the fire, Yue's eyes were still blue? Such a great choice by the animators. See you on the next one. Take care, my dude.

VeggieGamer

Oh wow, I didn't! That is an amazing detail!!

coco

i don’t know how to tell u this but it gets even better than this and then even better than that!! :)))

PumpkinSparks

I love the little lore drops we get throughout the series about Irohs past. He is such a fascinating character! And I love that when it comes to the spirit world and the balance of the world he truly does not care about nations and allegiance to anyone. Because he truly understands how we're all impacted by nature and spirits and that we CANNOT disrupt that balance! In a way he embodies the idea of the avatar without being one. I love him so much! Zuko did not seem to get much respect from his father? Might I quote Zuko? "My father said that my sister was born lucky - I was lucky to be born." That highly suggests that he did not get any love from his father at all, not just no respect! I know it feels weird to do it when you record something in batch on patreon that you later cut to several episodes on youtube. But you might want to re-record an intro for the second part, cause you kinda didn't do one. Obviously it's your choice how you want to do that, but I feel it might be a bit of an abrupt start.

Ruins of Wonderland

Koh the Face Stealer was one of the most terrifying things I had encountered as a child 😂 just like you though, I watched all kinds of terrifying shows as a kid. That's just what was on in the millennial days 😭🤣 hope you and yours are very well 💜

CR Ash

I am about to feast upon this delicious content (Don't worry its vegan!) thank you Veggie!

Rey's Got Plans

I am so happy you enjoyed this Veggie, and it Does Get Better!!! I love that you gravitatr toward Earthbending and Book 2: Earth is going to set your world on fire 😆🔥😆🔥 I cannot wait!! 😁

TattedSith

I am glad you are enjoying this as much as we loved it. Your reactions are so pure and in watching you react to it, it is as if we are, or at least I am, rewatching the series for the first time again. it truly does get better from here!

CR Ash

The Netflix series is a live action adaptation of The Last Airbender, the live action movie is based on book 1 of the Last Airbender bc they expected sequels lololol its so bad, and Korra is the sequel series.

STAYoung

Thank you for all the effort you put into these videos Veggie. It’s great to go on this adventure with you for one of, if not, my favourite show. One season down, two more to go You’ll get a bit more information on Iroh’s son but most fans can agree he's a real leaf from the vine

Celle

Thanks for your reaction! It is so much fun to watch a childhood favorite with you again! I am excited for the next season, as many already said: It just gets better :)

Embran

We now saw how the fire nation ship from episodes 1-2 got stranded... by 5 waterbenders together (or likely Pakku or fully matured Aang + Katara)

Embran

Yes, firebender from intro is Zuko´s sister. The airbender is unknown, people speculate young Gyatso. Earthbender is design wise someone from season 3 but meant to have been Aang´s teacher. But that changed as you will see drastically (for the better).

Madikuma95

It's cool to rewatch this episode from the POV of someone who's never seen it before! Not only is it epic, but there's so much new info being introduced.

Embran

Firelord Moron calling Iroh a traitor basically tells us that he too would have sacrificed the moon spirit, regardless of the repurcussions in the form of natural disasters that will destroy his empire.

Brady Renfro

Yay! so happy you loved the first season! The next 2 only get better! I just got a tattoo last month with the Tui & La and the water tribe symbol. I love this show so so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Brady Renfro

Also super excited for you to meet Zuko's sister! She is one of my top 3 characters from this show and her voice actor is amazingly talented.

Sab

Such good episodes. A really fun detail, at the end of this episode and in the first episode Iroh tells Zuko “A man needs his rest.” And the way Zuko responds is so different, in the first episode he explodes with aggression, but here he quietly accepts Iroh's advice. Really goes to show how much Zuko has grown this season. Also, I've always adored the way they used colour in this episode. The black and white with flashes of colour whenever it is illuminated by the fire bending is beautiful!

Leah Boerigter

Hey Embran, I gotta say, I love that your icon is Fizzgig from The Dark Crystal. Brings back memories.

Devyn ⁷ 🍉

i love the group shot of the Gaang even including yue as the moon above them 🤍but good god does this finale make me sob my eyes out everytime. iroh and zuko, tears. the talks of those not making it out of the war, tears. iroh fighting zhao, tears. zuko and katara fight, chills. aang becoming one with the ocean spirit to help enact its revenge for the death of its soulmate and for aang to finally have one win against the fire nation, TEARS

Devyn ⁷ 🍉

for the netflix live action i would say it’s not the WORST but it’s not GREAT for a fan of the original show either. (my coworkers and I had days worth of conversations about it) overall how I rated it, on a Rotten tomato scale for fun, is literally a 50% episode 1 being really good then it slowly gets worse till you get to like episode 6. and at that point you accept the major changes (both good and bad) they made to the story line and can follow along comfortably as a fan again… if that makes any sense if i wasn’t a huge fan of the original it would’ve been a higher score for sure though! but it definitely shouldn’t be watched until you finish the cartoon! it brings in characters from season 2 i think just in case it did get cancelled.

Embran

Thanks. So much personality that little fuzzy guy has for so little screen time. And soon on my wall were I am gonna put a compilation of all my favorite sidekicks (but a bit changed towards my art): Among them: 1. Evinrude (The Rescuers) 2. Fizzgig 3. Archimedes the owl (Sword in The Stone) 4. Petrie (The Land before Time) 5. Pascal (Tangled)

jolt45

It is absolutely insane how much they pack into this episode, especially part 2. The amount of plot twists in the final 5 minutes alone (Zhao actually killing the moon spirit, Iron helping the Gaang, Aang merging with the ocean spirit, Yue transferring her life into the Moon Spirit, Zuko fighting and defeating Zhao, Zuko's sister being teased for the next season). Its just a work of art. That's all I can say. Excited for Book/Season 2!

Logical Dreamer

Hi, I've been a fan of yours for a while and decided to join your Patreon to see part two of this! As a fellow Star Wars nerd, you may be interested to know that Dave Filoni directed this and storyboarded for part two, which is likely why it's so peak. I personally really like the Live-Action series. I think some pacing issues need to be sorted out, but overall, I enjoyed it. Many fans were upset that it wasn't a shot-by-shot remake, and, as I mentioned, there were some pacing issues with the writing. Some characters, I feel, were given more to help round out their characters, while others, I feel, aren't quite there yet, but I'm hoping that's intentional to show character growth. That being said, I think pretty much every actor was cast perfectly. They are currently filming both Book Two and Book Three back to back and should be releasing Book Two sometime next year. I recommend watching it at some point.

Diego Zenhäusern

Oh man, I always forgett about the only pushing thing...but it's such a great detail!

Leah Boerigter

That's so cool. I know and love all of those characters except Archimedes. Haven't seen Sword and the Stone yet. Petrie and Ducky were the best from The Land Before Time. As a kid I loved The Rescuers: Down Under so much. It's good to know there is an over lap in my interests. Take care, my dude.

Embran

Evinrude sadly not part of Rescuers Down Under. Would have liked the movie way more if ihe was there for support. Then again don´t know how a dragonfly can assist in that setting, so maybe for the best. I am sure you have seen a meme at least of Archimedes. It´s an elderly owl tumbling over and almost dying of laughter. Him or hyenas from The Lion King are the Disney ones people for years chose when expressing ¨roflmao¨ with a pic ^^

LouShirley

I'm watching this for the first time along with you, and I didn't expect to be as hooked on it as I am! Loving this series, Veggie!

Lisette C.

Your reaction to these episodes is so freaking good! I just watched it for the 4th time and that is honestly not something I usually do <3
