Greetings, Veggie and Woozle! I really love these one chapter videos! Ch 26 - Nothing draws more attention to something than trying to hide or ban it. Reminds me of Natty from Hogwarts Legacy, she mentioned that calling the forest ‘forbidden’ only makes it more alluring to students and she has a point. - I wonder if Snape is intentionally seeking out embarrassing memories to motivate Harry to keep Snape out better. As always, thank you for all your hard work but remember that your health is more important! Please take care of yourself!

Couple typos in the last one my apologies. As for this chapter I really love how Umbridge bans the quibbler which gets even more people to read it, it’s a little curious that fudge put someone that’s so bad with children in charge. And boy would I have loved to see Umbridge‘s face when Dumbledore selects Firenze immediately to replace Trelawney this is the sort of stuff that makes me love Dumbledore. I know it’s been touched down a lot and other book clubs and I know I touched on at once but I highly highly recommend everyone listen to the full cast edition feels like a totally different story almost I’m on order currently and I am enjoying this one I think the most so far. Goblet still my favorite book though.

S'mae Woezlie! Chapter 26 Fair play to Seamus. Two of the hardest things to say in the English language, "I'm sorry," and "I was wrong" (The third being "Worcestershire sauce"). Harry is a rash idiot. Why, why, WHY tell Umbridge where you were interviewed? She's obviously going to ban future visits to Hogsmeade in doing so. Say it was done over Christmas- she's no legilimens! Maybe he just wanted an excuse never to return to Madam Puddifoot's... As always, looking forward to the next few hours of Veggietainment. All the best! P.S. Since last time you bemoaned the fact Woozle gets lots of compliments and you don't: Who's a handsome Veggie? Isn't his beard and hat lovely? What a dapper young man he is!

John Phillips

This is another one of my favorite chapters, so my notes might be a little long: It's interesting that in the book, Trelawney got fired by Umbridge much later in the story than she did in the movie. I like how Ginny pulled a Victor Krum in the match and even Harry was impressed by it. Gryffindor still lost, but she caught the snitch and limited the damage for the team. Ginny is a good seeker, but the new beaters on the other hand (Jack Sloper and Andrew Kirke), I don't even know how they passed the practice trials. Ginny told Harry that he's only banned from Quidditch as long as Umbridge is at Hogwarts and she seems confident that she'll be gone soon enough. Do you think Umbridge could actually make Harry banned for life from Quidditch, even if she left Hogwarts or was Ginny correct in what she said? There's also a minor difference in Seamus's apology to Harry between the book and movie versions. In the movie, Seamus seems convinced Harry is right because Seamus's mother is convinced Harry is right. In the book however, Seamus is convinced Harry's right after reading that article and he tells Harry that he'll tell his mother about his new perspective.

Hi Veggie! This chapter starts with the conversation that I feel like they should have had in the last chapter before the date, it would have saved so much drama Love sassy Harry here explaining what an interview is. This is in my top 5 favourite moments of the books, Umbridge fumbling a propaganda victory over "crazy Harry" although after the Death Eater escape it had already started to cause a shift in opinions as Harry noted last chapter, but here it was already full on supporting him under the nose of Umbridge. Feel like it's about time that something more positive happens. And although Umbridge definitely manages to cause more misery it's still great to see Dumbledore standing up for his teachers in the time of need.

Cari Ann

I love how hermione works through what happened with poor Bode and than tells off harry for not working hard to block it out, he really should be trying harder, instead of wanting to block it out he just wants to know what's behind the door. One of my favorite teachers enters at the very end to replace Sybil, it was something I didn't expect the first time I read the book, looking forward to seeing professor Firenze in the series. Whats your prediction on how a centaur will do teaching?

S1lm4r1l

Ginny breaking into the Weasley's broom cupboard, taking out their brooms when they weren't looking and learning to fly without their knowledge demonstrates Ginny's character in a single sentence. Far more than we got in the films. Hermione gives Harry Murtlap essence for his Umbridge scars, Harry gives Lee the same advice and now Lee tells the Twins to get rid of their boils. Normally schoolkids spread illnesses, not remedies. McGonagall's intervention on Trelawney's behalf counts for so much more given their personal animosity and McGonagall's impatience with Divination as a subject. People talk about "Calmly" a lot but the film version of the Trelawney's dismissal is equally problematic. We've hardly ever had Book Dumbledore shout, but its all anyone seems to remember about Gambon's performance. "Firenze" - Italian for Florence, JKR really doesn't make localization easy does she? Surprised she didn't name the other centaurs Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael.

Alias93

Hi Veggie! Harry, in his infinite humility, doesn’t fail to remind us that if he had been playing, he would have won the match for Gryffindor. Him, losing to Hufflepuff? As if… I love the reactions of the professors to the article coming out, especially Trelawney’s who is not beating the ‘‘just making stuff up’’ allegations with this one. You wanted to see more occlumency lessons between Harry and Snape, what did you think of this one? Did you expect Snape to react like he did in the movie when Harry saw some of his memories? No memory about James bullying him though… With the Trelawney scene happening much earlier, the movie was still establishing Umbridge as a credible threat, so she got the last word and Dumbledore was left visibly frustrated, but here he stays cheerful as usual and completely outplays her. Do you think Firenze will be a more credible/competent divination teacher?

Sunblooded

Hey woozle!! (And veggie too I guess) Love Hermione calling Harry out for the date, 🤣 like yeah, he was being REALLY tactless Oof, yeah that quidditch game was bad 😭 😭, bet you’re glad hufflepuff won 🤣 Neville and sprout waltzing with Mcgonagal on bagpipes, now that’s an image 🤣 I both love and hate umbitch, hate her as a person and she’s INFURIATING but god is she also entertaining though and you can’t wait to see her (hopefully) downfall 🤣 love the teachers secretly supporting Harry (points and sweets) and…….uh….thanks for that twelorney? (for saying Harry’s not gonna die) not sure Harry wants to be minister of magic and TWELVE KIDS?! 🤣 Oh I LOVE the twins 🤣 that talking poster’s hillarious Yeah those dreams are getting worse…….really useful information they’re getting though Snape is really an interesting character, cus yeah he was mistreated and bullied as a kid at school and clearly didn’t have a good home life so you can’t help but feel bad for him but at the same time, he needs to try to not let that affect how he treats the students, especially Harry and Neville, now that he’s an adult Bet you didn’t expect that ending, a new divination teacher and it’s a centaur! Sorry it’s so long I did try and cut it down 😭

Garfnob

Greetings, Chapter – 26 - More prof quidditch scoring makes no sense. - On what grounds is Umbridge revoking Harry's weekend passes? - More Snape backstory that was not in the movie. P.S. you could set the comment limit to "i will not hit the show more", one can fit a lot under that limit if they are concise. just a thought. :)

Maria

Hi Veggie! Once again, Hermione is doing the most. Seriously, how would Harry get anywhere without her lol? I think it's interesting that Harry wishes he could consult Sirius in this chapter but still doesn't open the gift Sirius gave him. How long do you think it will take Harry to use it? This chapter confirms my belief that Snape should not be teaching Harry occlumency. Harry is less and less interested in learning how to do it properly and Snapes tactics have just made him resentful (as opposed to motivating him). Also, I think Snape is enjoying humiliating Harry, which is very inappropriate. I think the scene with Professor Trelawney is much more distressing in the book than in the movie. What do you think of the new Divination teacher? Yet another thing the movie missed. Also, it's very sweet that the twins and Harry are so impressed by Ginny's performance as seeker. Apologies if this comment was too long! So many things happen in this chapter!

Andrew K

Hey Veggie! “At least my happiness doesn’t depend on Ron’s goalkeeping ability.” Wiser words have never been spoken by Hermione. A decisive Hufflepuff win! Sure, Ron might’ve been bad, but they still absolutely battered Gryffindor. Of course, it couldn’t come when Harry was on the pitch, but we’ll take it! Snape gave Harry another compliment! (albeit mixed with a whole bunch of insults, can’t he just give it a break for one lesson at least?) A centaur is the new Divination teacher! I’m so sad this isn’t in the movie, especially the dramatic entrance through the doors. Speaking of magical creatures, which subject do you think Dobby could teach? I agree, WrestleMania was soul-sucking (Roman/Punk was amazing). Fortunately I get paid to write about it, but I’d definitely not be watching currently if it wasn’t my job.

Madikuma95

You'd think most readers of The Quibbler would believe Harry, considering all the other strange things in that magazine! It's interesting that only Death Eaters call Voldemort "the Dark Lord". Ginny also does this in CoS, perhaps a clue that she was possessed by Tom Riddle? There's such a contrast between angry movie Dumbledore who snaps at students for no reason, and calm book Dumbledore who smiles politely while dealing with Umbridge. Any thoughts on Snape's childhood? Does it make Harry (or the reader) feel more sympathetic towards him?

Dodolulupepe

Ginny wrote the Valentine's Day poem in the period between she threw away the diary and when she took it back, so I don't think it was written by Tom for her. Entirely her own writing :p (This was later confirmed by JKR actually.) Though I do think there was influence from talking to Tom throughout the year before that in calling him the Dark Lord there, as you said, otherwise how would she have known about that name for him?

Ирина Устюгова

This plan would only work if Umbridge didn't ask any further questions, which is unlikely. Considering she eventually banned Harry from Hogsmeade, she'd likely want to know where he spent Christmas to rule out further interviews. Harry couldn't tell her he was at Grimmauld Place for obvious reasons, but he also couldn't say he was at the Burrow, to avoid putting the Weasleys in a difficult position, and I doubt Umbridge would believe the interview was conducted at the Dursleys' home. Therefore, she would have discovered Harry had lied to her sooner or later, which could have potentially led to even bigger problems (like drawing attention to Grimmauld Place).

Diego Zenhäusern

WFFTITWFF Veggie! Since I don't really have any interesting insights others havent brought up yet, I'll just leave a little quote I always enjoy, showing how sweet and innocent Harry can be. "And it might have been a good idea to mention how ugly you think I am too,” Hermione added as an afterthought. “But I don’t think you’re ugly,” said Harry, bemused. Hermione laughed.

Jake M

Fair point. But maybe he bumped into her at St Mungo's?

Inseriousity

This chapter has many great lines. I really enjoy this one because it's a nice uplifting chapter where something actually goes right for Harry for a change. "The teachers were of course forbidden from mentioning the interview... but they found ways to express their feelings... Professor Trelawney broke into hysterical sobs and announced that Harry was not going to suffer an early death after all but would live to a ripe old age, become Minister for Magic and have 12 children" So funny but this makes me wonder if this is what finally got her fired.

S1lm4r1l

In fairness to Harry, the only Quidditch match he's played and lost so far, a Dementor attacked him and he fell off his broom.

S1lm4r1l

Which, Snape should already know is a TERRIBLE way to get Harry to clear his head. If the very thought of Occlumency itself sends Harry into a resentful spiral how the hell is Harry supposed to close his mind? Just because Snape can do Occlumency does not mean he knows how to teach others.

Badger Kat

Yes, he really knows potions and I’m not sure how well he teaches it. I don’t remember how well he does at teaching Defense. He is better at teaching Harry through the notes he left in a potions text, not sure how much of that is Harry not realizing it is Snape’s writing and therefore being willing to listen but the lack of insults definitely helps.

S1lm4r1l

Well in Book 6 we see that only 12 people in Harry's year get an Exceeds Expectations or above and want to continue Potions, which seems pretty low compared to the number of students taking Transfiguration, Charms and Defence against the Dark Arts. The potions book is Snape making notes for himself. The only person Snape actually cares about. He leaves instructions with no snide remarks, insults or denigration of the reader's relatives.

Dani Phantom

hello veggie! and woozle! hermione’s constant exasperation with her two idiot boy best friends always makes me laugh. her voice actor in the full cast audiobooks captures it perfectly. i had some things to say but most of it has been touched on already so i just want to share a quick story instead if that’s okay. when hermione says “If she could have done one thing to make absolutely sure that every single person in this school will read your interview, it was banning it!” it always brings to mind “the ketchup incident” in my middle school. we had these ketchup pumps at lunch and kids would frequently make a mess with them, so the school took them away. this lead to a ROARING black market ketchup trade between students, bringing in full bottles, packets from mcdonald’s, etc. and selling them in the hallways between classes. needless to say, we got our ketchup pumps back. so hermione is right. banning something in a school is indeed the best way to make sure every student is in on it.

Heather Judge

Hey Veggie! Wanted to take a moment to thank you for keeping going through what I believe are some of the longest chapters in the series! Take your time, as you say the content length remains the same so it's actually more in depth! On Lee Jordan's detention last week and Umbridge threatening Fred this week, I'm suprised no one has gone to Dumbledoor about the blood writing detentions... Harry doesn't want to because he feels Dumbledoor is avoiding him, but why wouldn't other students?

Badger Kat

Maybe because they don’t have a relationship with the headmaster? How many people know about Harry’s detentions, maybe they think if no one did anything for him, then they wouldn’t be helped either? Good question!

Dodolulupepe

Hi Veggie! Notice how Ginny joined the group just in time to overhear Harry talking about his dispute with Cho - and speaking of Ginny, I love how George is impressed that she's been stealing their brooms for 8 years secretly. I bet you're happy at the Hufflepuff win! // Do you think it's a coincidence that Harry keeps being jerked out of the dream right before seeing what's at the end of the path, or is there a reason? // What do you think about what Bode was trying to remove? If it was the weapon as Harry thinks, any new thoughts on what it could be? Maybe Voldemort went to look in the mirror because he sensed Harry seeing through him, and wanted to startle him out of it? It's funny how Harry himself argued to Ron that he shouldn't have seen the vision if he'd done Occlumency better, but then went furious at Hermione when she pointed this out. Do you think it's good that Harry is seeing these dreams, or do you agree with Snape? I'm super curious to hear your thoughts on the new Occlumency lesson - I thought it actually went well, all things considered, and am with you that Snape's the right man for the job.

Dodolulupepe

thinking of that niche way in which the lie could possibly work (st. Mungo's) in the time needed to answer Umbridge's question is definitely a tall order; I think Harry's brazen response in a way that made the reaction carry across the Great Hall was the best Harry realistically could've done with the cards he had

Dodolulupepe

you don't get to look through the mind like a book and pick the memory you want to view with Legilimency, as Snape described last time. I don't think he's being intentional in what he's viewing, but to be honest almost all of Harry's significant memories (the ones that would stick in his mind, even if deep deep down) before Hogwarts would be embarrassing/bad like this

Badger Kat

Every time I see your name now I can hear Veggie singing it in my head.

Dodolulupepe

oh my goodness that's amazing

S1lm4r1l

Perhaps it is more reflective more on Harry that he thinks of these memories first, rather than the less numerous but more positive ones. Although there are definitely instances where Harry sees memories he didn't know he had. I suspect it is a combination of the two minds. It would make sense that Snape could choose categories or flavours of memory, and Occlumency, when used properly can misdirect the invader to see memories that encourage a certain viewpoint. I suspect Voldemort's inability to use Legilimency to detect Snape's feelings about Lily has more to do with his own lack of emotional intelligence than any great skill at Occlumency Snape possesses.

Noni

Yay, all caught up and back to posting. 6 months of overtime took its toll. We get a little more insight into Voldemort’s plans here and what he’s been doing. Do you have enough pieces of the puzzle to put it together yet? And you got more Occlumency. I think I disagree with you about Snape being the best teacher for the jobs here. Snape might be the best Occlumency teacher in general, but he is not the best teacher for Harry. The best teacher in the world will get nowhere if they don’t adapt their methods to the needs and learning style of their pupil. Another storyline completely missing from the movies. Are you looking forward to lessons with Firenze?

Florian

Hi Veggie, Umbridge becoming victim to the Streisand effect is always funny. Would you ever imagine Firenze to show up again?

ChrisG9018

Hi Veggie the letter scene reminds me of all the letters Harry received through the chimney in book one. Fred and George turning the quibbler cover into a talking poster is brilliant. Why do you think Snape is so hard on Harry during these lessons knowing how important for everyone they are why do you think Dumbledore is so desperate to keep Trelawney at Hogwarts thank you

Dodolulupepe

there's no way other people besides Ron and Hermione know about Harry's detentions (or better said what he is doing in them) given how Harry didn't even tell R&H and they had to see it themselves on his hand. I suppose someone could make the leap of logic of "Umbridge made me write with my blood -> I remember Harry got detentions with her a while ago -> Harry must have had to do it too" but it would be a pretty huge leap. And Umbridge is, unfortunately, really good at manipulating people's emotions and reactions exactly how she wants them; I'm sure she's selectively using her blood quill where she feels it will be able to make the impact she wants...

PumpkinSparks

I agree 100% on Snape. Being the best in a subject and being the best teacher are 2 very different things. When I was studying my maths and electrical engeneering lecturer was one of the best in that field, and one of the worst teachers I ever had - that man could not teach to save his life! Funnily enough that same time I had one of the best teachers I ever had: our audio engeneering lecturer barely knew more than the level he taught us, but he made a very dry subject incredibly vivid and fun and easy to grasp. Granted I forgot most of it because I don't care about audio, but it just shows how the best teachers aren't necessarily the best in the subject!

PumpkinSparks

and to be fair, he didn't really have time to prepare a cover story, he was caught in the moment. So I think being truthful was the right call in this instance. At least she couldn't give him more detention for lying to her face! I do love the idea though, that he said Hogsmeade, so he could avoid Madam Puddifoots 🤣

PumpkinSparks

Hey Woozles Hooman! First, well done Seamus!!! Most adults cannot admit when they were wrong, let alone apologizing face to face, plus in front of a group of people. And he is 15 !?! That truly took some hutzpah. Well done! I really feel for Harry in these books on a medical level. I obviously never had a psychic link to a sociopathic murderess Nazi, but I was about his age when I started to have constant headaches - sometimes more, sometimes less, but never truly gone. That really messes with your body! You don't get enough sleep, because of the pain. You get more irritable, because the lack of sleep and the pain. Your pain increases, because of the lack of sleep... it really is a vicious cycle... And I even understand Harrys feeling of not being heard and misunderstood (granted most teenagers feel that way on a certain level). Harry doesn't talk about it to grown ups because of trauma. I stopped complaining, because every doctor we went to said that I was healthy and don't have any pain 😒🙄 so you learn to ignore your body and just live with constant pain... it ain't good people! So yeah, even ignoring the whole story and what is happening on the outside, I feel for Harry and what is happening to his body! That boy needs a whole entourage of different kinds of doctors who work with him!!! I'm sorry, I'm trying to keep my comments shorter. I know I'm a yapper, but I'm also afraid of being misunderstood if I don't explain or give some context. And I do feel that I'm getting slightly better. Maybe at the end of bookclub I will be able to hit the goal 😜 Pirate edit: you just recently realized that Bill Nighy is an amazing actor, and we love Imelda Staunton (Umbridge in the movies) - I have mentioned this movie before and I don't know if you've watched it, but if you havn't: you really should check out Pride. In my opinion the best Imelda performance, a heart-warmingly charming Bill, and generally great performances and awesome movie and incredible story! As always, please give some love to the best Noodle!

SavageKim

Hi Veggie! Learning about how Ginny snuck the brooms to fly was cool, but hearing it so casually said from Hermione is a reminder that she and Ginny are also friends, who talk/hang out without the boys! It's a sweet moment about their friendship. Firenze is blonde and palomino, not... whatever that dark-haired horse-guy was in the first movie. I always forget what he actually looks like until this scene. Hope you're well!

Dara Jeeling

can I ask an unrelated question? During the time Snae teaches potions we never see the students use a book. The instructions are always written on a blackboard. Hermione can produce perfect potions with them Once Slughorn takes over and they use the books - Harry outshines Hermione I have the idea, Snape teaches his version on the blackboard which is why Hermione is erfect and looses out with the book. You think that is an option? Also, regarding the number of students... RElating to RL once you can get rid of chemistry a LOT of students do taht there are only 40 people in Harry s year - So I think 12 is impressive. And since Potions is the most dangerous subject at Hogwarts, iI think it's okay to sort of be a bit selectives. And as a Chemistry teacher myself I know how many students only attend because they must XD

Dara Jeeling

Hola Veggie and Woozle I love the occlumency lessons, because I genuenly think Snape tries to do his best. We also get a little snippet of his story here (and I for one think this explain a LOT about hiim) Children who grew up in an inviroment like this (most likely an abusive household) and who are clearly not loved can and will devlop serious trust and binding issues. (and yes, I know ficitonal character) but this short scene for me (with a degree in psychology) explains a lot. And I know I am very sympathetic especially towards child and teen Snape. Also, I love how Dumbledore hires exactly the eperson that would annoy UMbridge the most - on purpose!

S1lm4r1l

Of course. It would also explain why Snape's Potions recipes in books 1-5 are ridiculously specific and convoluted. I'm pretty sure Charms and Transfiguration have split classes in Book 6. Whereas all of 6th year is in Slughorn's class. At least, we get 4 Ravenclaws, 4 Slytherins, The Golden Trio and Ernie, the sole Hufflepuff.

Badger Kat

I wonder if Harry and Ron are the only ones who would not have been there if Snape was still the teacher and only accepted O grades instead of EE also.

Alex Hopps

Hello mr veggie 2 quick things, theres enough bits in this chapter that hopefully you will have a few topics to discuss I love imagining the psychotic aneurism umbridge had as harry was explaining the definition of the word interview The scene with trilawny getting fired is another great example of Michael gambon shouting his head off in the film but seeming entirely chilled and playful in the book Also i love ginnys progression through the story

S1lm4r1l

It's an interesting question Kat. Somehow I doubt Ernie got an Outstanding Potions OWL. I mean, he says later in this book about revising 8 hours a day, but he's never struck me as being the biggest brainbox.

jolt45

Hey Veggie and Woozle! This is now the 2nd time we've had the Seeker of the losing team end a match. I'm going to hold off for a few more chapters before I explain how we can "fix" Quidditch but this match will be referenced in that explanation. Snape may not be the most patient teacher but Harry isn't doing himself any favors in his training. People were saying a few chapters ago that Snape hasn't explained anything. Well, we find out here that Snape has instructed Harry to clear his mind before he falls asleep but Harry knows he isn't doing it properly. In my mind's eye Firenze (centaur) looks like Legolas from the waist up (long blonde hair and bright blue eyes) xD.

skinnyp

Hello Veggie! yes indeed, my profile picture is a football club, it’s Alemannia Aachen from the beautiful city Aachen. The german Book Club community is growing 😁 All the teachers are trying to be sneaky while praising Harry for his courage, because of the educational decree. How is Umbridge gonna control it? Do you think this is one of the reasons she is always doing an inspection in Harry’s classes? Trewlaney felt much more like a tragic character than a funny comic relief one in these last chapters. Also, I always wondered if Dumbledore replacing Trewlaney with Firenze was partially done to rub it in to Umbridge because he knows how much she dislikes “half-breeds” like Hagrid or Lupin. Have a nice day! Until next time.

PumpkinSparks

Well, later in this book we learn that Dumbledore does not even think that Divination should be a class, but he hired Trelawney after she made an actual prediction (that she herself isn't even aware of) It is highly implied that he recreated that post to protect Trelawney (having her close and behind several protection spells) and not because he actually wanted her to teach the children. So yeah, he probably didn't care who teaches Divination since he wouldn't care if noone did, but he a) didn't want another ministry sympathizer teaching in his school and b) wanted to stick it to the racist!

Josh Z

The turn in this chapter is great. Harry gets multiple positives and we get some great quidditch moments. I have always kind of wondered how Ginny got so good at flying practicing with such terrible brooms . Really makes you think about her natural talent as it must take a lot of time to become exceptional when you’re working with far worse equipment. It’s also interesting how harry is so talented at seeker that he can pinpoint the specifics of how Ginny is slightly worse at the position. It’s also just nice to see her be so casual around him. Not the most involved character but growth is still noticeable anyway.,

Gugurupurasu Daikirai

And Cedric had already spotted the Snitch before him and Harry even admitted to himself he wouldn't have been able to catch up in time anyway

Gugurupurasu Daikirai

Hi Veg and Wooz, I hope you started this book club talking some major trash to Gryffindor after hearing that they lost to Hufflepuff again. If not now would be a good time to do so ;) Luna's acquaintanceship with Harry sure paid off, quite literally. Mr. Lovegood is definitely having a good month if he's having to do a reprint, talk about picking a lucky carriage in the train ride to Hogwarts. Hermione kind of set up Harry for failure with Cho by asking him to meet with her during his date, even so maybe it's not over with Cho so maybe no apple pie in Harry's immediate future after all. Poor Bode and Podmore. In what has been a theme in recent chapters we have yet another unexpected reappearance of a previous character. How do you imagine what Firenze's Divination lessons will be like?

skinnyp

Yeah that’s right. I’m really looking forward to The Lost Prophecy chapter, it has been one of my favorites of the whole series

Simon audsley

"We've got spooks and ghouls and freaks and fools at..." Harry seems to be paying quite a lot of attention to Ginny at the quidditch game.... More lessons with snape and I have to agree with him that harry isn't trying, also a bit more of snapes past with possibly a brief cameo from Harrys mum? Another chapter an another returning character, been a while since we saw Firenze and we get him as a new book exclusive teacher, I would expect you didn't expect to have centaur teacher.

Bram

Hallo Veggie, "It might have been a good idea to mention how ugly you think I am." I am totally with Harry. A person shouldn't have to try so hard or act so differently to what comes naturally to them when dating. What a fiasco indeed. "I haven't even got the heart to take the Mickey out of him.", "This one's from a bloke who thinks you're off your rocker.", "Another one who thinks you're barking" 🤣 I just LOVE British slang Everyone in the possession of a magazine will be expelled is about the most insane official rule you can think up. The effects the article has and how this all plays out in this chapter is so much fun. There just happens so much in this Chapter. Many serious matters which I'm sure the rest will get into. But I always like to point to the things that make me laugh in this series. "That interview was so brave. It made me cry". Lol See you next time, cheers from the Netherlands

Bennet

Hey there Veggie! As mentioned before my favourite section of the book started. I really like the satisfaction this "rebellious" phase gives us, e.g. Professor Flitwick after charms as he is not permitted to openly congratulate Harry. I love that Neville congratulates Harry on speaking his mind. I really like the tension from there being an evil force almost controlling Hogwarts and the students and teachers finding little ways to outsmart the system and not worrying too strictly about the rules. (the DA/McGonagall not being angry with Harry etc.) And it only gets better from here on!! Everything else I had in mind was already covered expertly by fellow bookclub members Hope your doing fine!

Heya Veggie! Yey, I passed my finals and am now proud to say I graduated as a medical doctor! Scary new times ahead... Here are my notes: - "Girls don't often ask questions like that" "Well, they should" - as a woman myself, I agree, Harry, I agree - Hermione casually knowing Ginny's secrets goes to show that they're really good friends! - Emptying my mind would be impossible for me too, just too much going on in there. And if you don't know any meditation and calming strategies it could be even more difficult to figure it out - Haven't they learned anything about opening "fan" mail from last year? I would be more careful! - It's actually quite nice for us readers that Harry is so bad at Occlumency, because this way we get bits and pieces from Voldi's POV - We finally got into the Department of Mysteries! Yay?? Also I think this is the first time that we get firsthand backstory on Snape! - Don't ever try to beat Dumbledore in a legal debate, he'll outsmart you any day! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this chapter! Lots of love for you and Woozle from Germany <3 P.S. I'm currently on my way to London to see The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals live on West End and I'm so excited that I get to see a full Starkid production live!!

Ooftypoof, Veggie! I don’t think I’ve ever noticed that moment of Neville talking to Harry about the Quibbler story before. He seems to understand what Harry is going through better than even Ron and Hermoine. He must be going through something similar, knowing that Bellatrix is free again. From what we’ve seen of the Occlumency lessons, it really does seem like all Snape is doing is attacking Harry over and over, and that just isn’t actually teaching? You might throw someone in the deep end once so that they know what it feels like to panic in that situation. You do not teach someone to swim by doing that over and over and over until they figure it out for themselves. At some point you give them instructions on how to do the things you expect them to do, and have them practice an easier version until they can do it successfully, then increase the difficulty. Dumbledore doesn’t seem to understand the fact that being the best at something doesn’t necessarily mean you are any good at teaching it to someone else. Teaching is a separate skill 🤣

Yeah he could say he gave it over xmas, but he didn't have a story prepared. Although I think he could have said what happened over the break is private life, approach the Headmaster for any further personal inquiries. If demanded for answers- he visited Lovegoods along with Weasleys over the holidays

Namaskaram! How r u ? I missed few videos due to my work. Sorry for the late long comment Boderik Bode &Strugis Podmore- thoughts on this mystery? Both in strange situations, but reminders that war is already claiming lives. Agree with the theory by Hermione about it? 1st look at Snape's Parents/childhood- What do u think of those? This info would come back in next book. I know u don't see him with a dark side yet but he was once a deatheater, heartbroken &brainwashed maybe, but still cruel &evil. These could be 1 of the reasons. Snape sucks at teaching Harry anything, his objective is to train Harry &he is failing miserably. Umbitch mentioned Fudge signed order for dismisal just hour ago. How did dumbledor know?he might suspect the suspension, but timing of the new appointment isn't just coincidental. When Trelawney said she would leave, dumbledor says No sharply. It's more than empathy/defiance against Umbitch. A secret which even she doesn't know what would happen to her life outside of Hogwarts. Can u guess what/why? On 1st read, I laughed out, what's Firenze going to teach-Mars is brighter tonight. U might feel Hermione missed out by dropping Divination after reading about Firenze's class.

The Quibbler article is a turning point in the rebellion against Umbridge, and I ADORE it! It’s incredibly satisfying to see Umbridge unable to stop it, especially when Harry says it right to her face. And the funniest bit is when Trelawney says that Harry would "not suffer an early death after all, but would live to a ripe old age, become Minister of Magic, and have twelve children.” 😂 Snape: “You are neither special nor important, and it is not up to you to find out what the Dark Lord is saying to his Death Eaters.” Harry: “That’s your job, isn’t it?” Snape: “Yes, Potter. That is my job.” That last line carries a lot of cool subtext knowing Snape's role... Snape is also mostly right here. It shouldn't be Harry's job, but it is Snape's. I also think he's right that Harry secretly wants to know more, and that he should practise more. But...Harry IS special. That's the entire reason Snape is teaching him: because of his SPECIAL connection to Voldemort. There's no need to incorrectly downplay Harry's importance. Even when he's right, Snape can't help throwing in petty jabs that only weaken his own point.

Hey Veggie, fashionably late as i am with the Overlays, i am with my comment as well. I always thought the scene when people send mail about the news article is a bit weird to me. Never in my life would i send mail to someone just because i read a news article about them. Also how do you think Firenze will do as a teacher? Hope you have a great Day. P.S. Since i got a bit better paying job next to my studies, i can definitely afford the 2 dollar plan, so Woozle can get the posh food.

Hi veggie and woozle. First time commenting on a book club. So since it is might first time might be a bit long sorry I will try to keep it short. So first point going back a few chapters you mentioned how you don't understand why luna was supporting Gryffindor in the first quidditch game becuase in a game you try to support one team or the other not some random third team that isn't there. Also I think luna is meant to be a bit odd so I am not sure if she has many friends in Ravenclaw which would make even more sense she feels like the people from Gryffindor are her friends. Ok now on to stuff that happened this chapter. I love the scene of harry getting all of the owls for giving that interview. Also him being sassy to Umbridge when she questions him about it. Another point with new occlumency classes do you think snape is still the best teacher? I don't like snape so I might be bias but I know he had a rough childhood at home and at school but get over it or go to therapy. Like really he is in his mid 30's not sure his actual age and he still thinks it ok to bully students to make himself feel better. Also I love how Dumbledore is able to beat Umbridge playing by there rules. And hiring a new teacher since he new that Trelawney was going to be fired soon. I promise the next book club comment will be shorter.

Hey Veggie & Woozle! Chapter 26 Firenze is back! I’m sure you weren’t expecting this. When you were listening to the audiobook what were your first thoughts about the reveal that he’d be taking over divination classes? We also get a small glimpse of Snapes homelife as a child which i would have loved to have had just a TINY hint at in the movie.

Well done to Hufflepuff for beating Gryffindor (again!) Although I think they need a new Seeker. That Summerby sounds rubbish! I think we should focus in on Harry’s dream. What is the deep philosophical meaning behind Neville and Sprout Waltzing to Mcgonagall playing the bagpipes?

Hi Woozle! And Veggie It's funny that Hermione pointed out to Harry all the things that irked you on last chapter's date. It shows just how clueless Harry is when it comes to non - Voldy related stuff, which is sad because instead of focusing on normal teenage shenanigans, he's burdened instead with fighting a battle that no child should go through. And lastly, it's so satisfying to finally see the students and Dumbledore get a one up on Umbridge.
