So, I don't know if this is a 'fan favourite', but this one was hilarious, and then completely broke me at the end. The message of it is amazing and powerful, and I LOVED the scene with Buffy and Andrew. Amazing!

Love you, guys~

This episode is a real breath of fresh air - Tom Lenk is so funny, and Andrew is actually one of the redeeming features of the season for me. The last scene is fantastic too ❤️

The invisible girl was called Marcie, played by the great Clea Duvall. I like to headcanon that the "FBI" agents who picked her up at the end of that episode were actually Wolfram and Hart recruiters. I'd love if you reacted to Project Hail Mary! I went into it almost totally blind and it's fantastic. All I knew was it's based on a book by the same writer as The Martian and stars Ryan Gosling. I think you'd really like it :)

I love this episode, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it :) I cracked up so hard when Principal Wood said “So… ‘Hell’s a-bustin’ out all over’?” It’s a paraphrase of “June is Bustin’ Out All Over” from the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical “Carousel.” :) Marcie was the invisible girl. Her actress, Clea DuVall, had a guest role in several episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale, and I can never remember what THAT character’s name is, because I keep thinking of her as Marcie, lol. As you surmised, the exploding Stressed Out Boy was not a reference to a previous episode, just meant to be another example of the Hellmouth warping students’ perceptions into reality. It still works for me that Buffy says “I’ve seen all of this before” though, because it’s already been implied that seasons 1-3 were not a complete record of everything that went on at Sunnydale High. I love when the Trio is first introduced, and they have some dialogue to explain who Andrew is. Andrew: The prom thing was my lame-o brother Tucker. […] I had nothing to do with the devil dogs. I trained flying monkeys to attack the school play. School play, dude! Warren: That was cool. That was kinda cool. Jonathan: Remember, everyone was like “Run, Juliet!” So there was all kinds of supernatural nonsense going on IN BETWEEN episodes, that we didn’t even get to see, lol.

Oh I LOVE the Wolfram and Hart theory!! Yeah we need to check this movie out!

VeggieGamer

Yeah, at first when I found out the exploding guy wasn't a call-back, I was a little disappointed, but now I actually love it! We had a story of the week for 7 years, but not necessarily EVERY story! That is actually really smart, and I wonder when they wrote that scene they expected people to have a Mandela effect of "oh yeah! The episode when people exploded because of stress!" XD

"Lampshades up the wazoo"! Do you think that was Xander's idea or Anya's. ;-)

I love this episode! Andrew is one of my favorite ancillary characters.

Wow, Buffy's ADR line of, "It's didn't want blood, it wanted tears," is completely missing or inaudible. I wonder if this file is a different version.

Just like musical episodes, there seems to be a habit of American shows doing an episode where diegetic cameras film the cast. Off the top of my head, Buffy, X-Files and Castle (featuring Dogberry) all have them. No idea why, I never find them particularly compelling.

Jake M

Interesting-Andrew never particularly grew on me, although I did feel sorry for him a little bit! For me the saving grace arrives for the First time (see what I did there?) in episode 18.

VeggieGamer

Bizarre! I guess it must be a different version, maybe they changed it for the video/dvd version?

Emery Sea

Dogberry? Castle has Michael Keaton in it?

Jake M

No, Nathan Fillion from the Whedon version that Veggie's talked about a few times.

Emery Sea

I know, it was meant to be a joke. I also just prefer the Kenneth Branagh "Much Ado About Nothing" over the Joss Whedon version. 😊

Jake M

Ah, sorry! My sarcasm detector was switched off.

SapientButterfly

I love Andrew's character and this episode is so good.

SapientButterfly

Thank you, I thought I was going crazy remembering that line when it wasn't there! How strange they chose to remove it.
