Hi guys! Another 'Evening edition', but I didn't want to keep you waiting any longer! We discuss a VERY good chapter with a lost of twist and turns (as well as some extra and badass dialogue XD)!Today we discuss how I find football difficult to watch, a Marty Feldman doc that only I would enjoy, how the English speaking trailer for Kikujiro makes the movie look awful, Rupert the bear, Rod Hull dissing Grotbags, and WAY to many other things and some Harry Potter!I do spend a few extended stretches talking about other stuff. Sorry guys. I realise it after a while and get back on topic. I really hope it doesn't take away from the video. The vast majority of the video is on the topic you are here to seen! :)

Love you, guys! WHAT a chapter and what a scene! A lot to talk about from several moral standpoints, but all in all - an absolute joy!

goes to show how much i’ve been paying attention, i didn’t even realize this was late. the heat is getting to everyone 😅 kudos to you for getting through this even in the heatwave!

CN

I love the subscriber art idea! :)

Dani Phantom

***potential spoiler warning*** ***veggie do not read YET*** *will edit when safe 🤣 i’m drawing a huge blank, can someone remind me if we do ever know WHY marietta snitched? was it the same as the movie, the veritaserum? or did she just decide after months to snitch about it?

Christina Brock

Her mother works for the Department of Magical Transportation, and I'm pretty sure she's the one Umbridge coerced into watching the Floo Network. Marietta did what she did for her mother.

Dani Phantom

thank you! i knew about her mother but i forgot about the floo network bit.

Son of Shadows

We got up to 36 here in my town in Ontario Canada, with the humidity felt like 46, we're lucky though, we're used to warm summers so we have the proper insulation, so I can't imagine how bad it is across the pond, I've heard people in Florida are used to the tempurature because it's always so hot, but we're both a lot further north, so the humidity makes such a huge difference

Dani Phantom

i’m sorry for all of the comments but the realization at the double meaning behind “grimmauld place” made me CACKLE! i know i’m in the minority because i’ve pointed it out to many people but i realized it the first time i saw the word because it took me a second to sound it out 😂

I don’t think the sneak hex was supposed to be preventative. If someone really wanted to find away around it they could have. It’s about finding out who was guilty should someone betray them. Just imagine if the original order of the phoenix had done something similar, Sirius might never have been sent to Azkaban as dumbledore would have been able to see he had not betrayed them. I wonder if the hex would have still been visible on Pettigrew in animal form though? Quite possible given that cat McGonagal has markings that match her glasses.

Ирина Устюгова

Tbf Rowling said that Marietta's pimples faded away with time, but a few scars remained for the rest of her life. I guess as a reminder that betrayal always leaves a mark. Louie: Did mariettas pimply formation ever fade J. K. Rowling: Eventually, but it left a few scars. I loathe a traitor! (Bloomsbury Live Chat with J. K. Rowling on 30 July 2007) So it is an exaggeration to say that her face was disfigured for life. Many people have scars from acne; there is nothing pleasant about it, but it's not the end of the world

I love getting the notification when you tick of my comment in book club, cause that always means that the video will drop either that day or the next. Perfect timing for me this time. Today I have pretty mundane tasks at work with no loud noises or running around or living on a ladder for a day - so I can just prop up my phone and have you waffle on in the background! The heatwave was excruciating in germany. Luckily it cooled down and we get lots of rain now. But last week was continously around 40° 🥵 we actually had 3 days in a row where we beat the previous heat record... our houses are not built for that. They are designed to capture the heat during the day in the stone and then release it during the night. That's why none of us have AC, we don't need it. But if the night is in its 30s that doesn't work. Physics! Plus the humidity? Thinking made you sweat!!! On to book your book review 😋

PumpkinSparks

The idea to do subscriber chapter art is really cool! I don't know how to implement it in OBS (I'm still learning how to properly use that program) but I would be surprised if that isn't doable. You might have to opt to do that in editing though? Most editing softwares should have a rotating gallery... As for getting the images to you, that should be quite easily be doable. Somewhat similar as how we do the covers?

Noni

Now if I’d waited one more comment before stopping for the night I’d have known someone else raised the same point lol. But if I’d waited til I finished the video I’d have forgotten what I wanted to say.

Garfnob

you mentioned funnylilgalreacts. she just started one of the best si-fi shows of all time. Babylon 5 hands down my vote for the show to replace Buffy. any one that has not seen it should unless you hate si-fi.

PumpkinSparks

I feel you! That happens to me so often - like both versions... So often I posted a mid-reaction comment only to see someone else said the same thing like 10 minutes before me but I didn't refresh to check (or they wrote it while writing the comment and it took me too long to find the right wording), or I really wanted to comment on something and then I forgot until 2 days later because I waited to the end of the video...

Noni

I no longer have that worry. I’m 3 chapters ahead listening and have already written my comments and emailed them to myself ready to just copy and paste.

PumpkinSparks

Well, I'm still campaigning for Firefly/Serenity next. But I did only hear great things about Babylon 5 - havn't watched it yet but a lot of my sci-fi geeks say it's great

Garfnob

well Firefly is only 14 episodes so it could get fit in. they where talking about a Babylon 5 remake with modern effects and the righter matured story telling skills. the fans were like why the original is good. if that tells you anything about the quality.

Hawwah

It was actually a chat with fans, not an interview. My mistake. The chat took place on 30th July 2007, nine days after the release of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows (the book). A reader asked JKR whether the writing on Marietta's face ever faded. JKR's answer: "Eventually, but it left a few scars." If it left scars, it was a permanent disfigurement. Was it not?

Hawwah

Hermione has no business "punishing" people. She has no authority to do so. She is not a prosecutor, nor a judge, nor an executioner. But she's so arrogant she just assumes those roles without a second thought. Even if Hermione had the authority to punish Marietta (she does not), disfigurement is not a an acceptable form of a punishment in a civilized society.

Hawwah

Regarding the movies, I don't really see Emma Watson's character as Hermione. She's so different from book Hermione that she may as well have been a different character. You know how the later movies left out the Creevey brothers and created a new character of Nigel as a replacement for them? To me it feels like the filmmakers left out Hermione and created a new character of Emma Watson to replace her. I'd say the exact same thing for Alan Rickman and Severus. Rickman doesn't look like Severus, doesn't behave like Severus, doesn't talk like Severus, doesn't even have the same backstory as Severus! To me it's impossible to reconcile the man on the screen and the man in the book. They are totally different characters who have nothing in common (except for the name). I don't know if you remember but a while ago, I think it was towards the end of GoF, you said that when you listen to the audiobooks, you no longer envision Severus as Alan Rickman. That made me so happy!!! But I digress. You will be suprised but I prefer book Hermione. She's not a good person but she's an interesting character. The girl in the movies is a much better person from a moral point of view but she's also unrealistically flawless which makes her bland and not very interesting.

Madikuma95

Yeah I don't think Hermione is seriously prejudiced against centaurs. 😅 That's a good question, how did Fudge know about the "reversal of time"? 🤔 Maybe Dumbledore tried to explain everything to him after Voldemort came back?? "Shacklebolt" is almost definitely referring to Kingsley being an Auror aka wizard cop.

Neellohit Basu

Wait, what's this insane rant about football 😂😂😂 all sports have relevant stats and British football commentators bring them up regularly as well

VeggieGamer

Yeah sorry about the rant. I clearly don’t watch football enough because when I do (only international) they just drone on. 😝

Neellohit Basu

No need to apologise man, it's a USP of your book reviews 🤣🤣🤣

Badger Kat

You mentioned cutting back on negativity and waffle when you posted the next book club post. I finished watching the video now and I didn’t really see any negativity at all. As for the waffle, for me, that’s part of the entertainment value, and I don’t mean that in a bad way!

Kunzite Blossom

I am not saying Marietta shouldn't have been cursed....she totally deserved it for snitching, I just think that particular curse was not Hermione-like.

T_phoenix

I love book reviews you’re doing and your hard work is really appreciated. The book will kick off very soon, a lot of exciting stuff is coming. This and ATLA are my highlights.

Diego Zenhäusern

OMG! I've read these books proably 5 or 6 times (and have seen the movies probably as much) and I've never gotten the "grim old place" pun...🤦🏻‍♂️😅😅

S1lm4r1l

I think the idea that Shacklebolt is an allusion to slavery is somewhat cancelled out by the fact his first name is "Kingsley". You can read it more metaphorically. As an Auror Kingsley's job is to lock people up. Alternatively you could say that Kingsley's ability to help the Order is restrained because he is "shackled" to his work as an Auror. It works on a number of levels. Whilst Hermione might feel that she is at war. I don't think Marietta feels that way, nor that her actions are putting people's lives in danger. She may think that she's trying to keep Cho and the others safe, by preventing them taking up arms against the Ministry or Voldemort.

Nessy-Bobs

The actor who plays Dawlish is married to Tamsin Grieg, who plays Debbie Aldridge in The Archers and Fran in Black Books.

Mary

On the topic of Marietta’s pimples being permanent, it reminds me of Dudley’s tail from Philosophers Stone. I’m sure the spell Hagrid did was permanent but the Dursleys were able to get it removed… and that’s without magic

Hilde

Same lol
