Tanjiro is one of the few protagonist who is actually truely kind and empathetic. I remember there was a period in anime where there was a lot of "i'm such a kind person" MC that were all either dreadfully hypocritical or frustratingly absolute push over I feared Tanjiro would end up falling to one of this category but he doesn't. I'm not a big fan of virtuous parangon type of character but he's so true to himself and to his kindess that he ended up wining me over.

In case it still wasn't clear by the end of the episode, the demon died because she said Kibtsuji's name out loud.

I don't know if you've seen Ted Lasso, lol amazing fantastic live-action show. Can't recommend enough. But your description of being so kind to the point of winning people over reminded me of Ted in that show. While I love Tanjiro, I can absolutely see what you mean. There's many characters where this is portrayed in an unrealistic way that's almost frustrating. I really enjoy how Tanjiro's character is depicted and written. He's very insightful and not naive just because he's kind if that makes sense.
