Talking about Ufotable. One of their most impressive work to me is the anime Fate/zero, this is an anime that was realeased in 2011 to this day is still way more beautifull and impressive that 80% of anime of every years after them until today. I kid you not whent I tell you fate/zero has such an amazing visual quality it could be release today; 15 years later, withtout any changes and it would still be banger one of the best looking anime of the year. And I'm not even a fate fan too complicated of a serie, I've watched fate stay night, the inferior remake fate stay nigh unlimited blade works, fate zero and like fate apocrypha, I have a strong dislike for fate heaven's feels but fate/zero is an absolute banger.

Just to let you know, people get overly worked up about the fact that Inosukes name is pronounced "Inoske". The u in "su" is often silent in some japanese words and you hear it in the way they call him "Inoske" instead of i-no-su-ke. But yeah people rage when reactors pronounce the U 🙃

John Masteller

It's the honorifics at the end like -san, -chan, and -kun depending on age and relationship and gender.

On the topic of the opening, since you mentioned wanting to take a look at the lyrics. LiSA the artist who did the opening has a great rendition of the full track on the youtube channel "The First Take" which includes closed captions of the lyrics. They invite artists to do a literal first live take of a song in their studio. For the first demon slayer OP just search "LiSA - Gurenge the first take" it currently has 149 million views so you know it's good. Lots of reactors also react to these video's on their channel.

John Masteller

Yeah, most of the time the soft vowels like "u" will be dropped in the middle of the word or at the end as well.

If you remember from episode before, Inosuke live alone in a mountain. So, basically he was never educated with manner and culture. That's why he so confused and sus. He also have no interaction with people. When the old lady been so good to him. Its feel so new to Inosuke. He just didn't used to this thing😅

Episode 19 is so close yet so far…

Inosuke rules. Love a stupid wild beast boy.

That's a good reminder!! Haha I was like this kid seems like he has v little if any socialization 😭😂 Super interesting character for this reason tho I think (among many others) I was trying to think on if he was a 'typical' anime trope or even just why the creators/writers made him the way he is, but I think I'll have to wait a bit longer for this to piece together for me haha so much of what he says comes out of nowhere for me I'm like 'how did we get here Inosuke' 😂

aloekayeANIME

Couldn't have less of an idea what you mean lmao I'm going to just keep cluelessly moving along as I do 😊😇 Tbh the next ep.. 16 (which posts Fri), it really got me.. it might've been one of the more insane/painful eps to watch for me thus far.. I hope you guys like the reaction!! 💛

Ty for this!! ✨💫🙌 New word unlocked for me, I've actually never heard 'honorifics' so this is v cool to know and absolutely makes sense. I'm hoping with the honorifics of Japanese language (so the -san, -chan, and -kun you listed) will keep making sense as I hear/read them being used more with different characters and stories.

aloekayeANIME

Ooo thank you for this!! I haven't seen someone comment this yet (that I've seen, there's a lot of comments on YT which I dont get to read each one). But I am a big design/visuals so this sounds right up my alley! Added to the list 🙌✨💫

aloekayeANIME

Oh this is really good context 🙌💫 I thought I did do a quick google of pronunciation when they first said it (bc I had already mispronounced a few major names in both DS and Frieren 😭 lol) but looks like I listened to the 'incorrect' version of how to pronounce it. I'll try to drop the u a bit so it's softer/silent 💛

aloekayeANIME

This is a really cool idea around reacting to remakes or MVs of the OPs/EDs. 💫✨ I didn't know other reactors did that, I personally would love to too, so maybe at the end of a season or something I can do a lil react to that!

Papa

Hahah don't worry about it too much 😅

Matthias

That's cool, if you're really interested by different aestethic and original art direction I'd recommend taking a peak at (no need to like say you'd react to all that but look at some trailers or key art those kind of things) : katanagatarie, monogatarie series, ousama ranking, megalobox (especially season 2), guren lagan and kill la kill, to be hero X, afro samurai, samurai champloo. I feel like all of those can have a visual vibe that quite different than most anime.

We have honorifics in English, too! Like Mr, Mrs, etc... but we usually call them "titles." Strictly speaking, prefix titles are a type of honorific, which is the umbrella term for any and all ways to convey some level of social relativity (usually respect for people "above" you and mutual peer respect) when addressing someone. For example, calling a king "your majesty" is an English honorific in linguistic terms, because it conveys a relationship and a level of respect. I think we don't usually use that term in English because usually "title" covers the "Mr", "Mrs," "Dr", etc that we usually use. But it's kind of an "all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares" situation, because Japanese (and plenty of other languages, but Japanese is the focus here) uses all sorts of suffixes that do the job of conveying relative social role and relative respect, but don't match well to what's meant by "title." So linguists use the word "honorifics" as a much broader category for parts of speech that serve that function. (Really, linguistics as a field is insane. Trying to read about high-level linguistic ideas is like swimming through pudding, because they're defined by observing patterns on top of patterns in worldwide languages, so they're very abstract and often refer to *other* terms you don't know and may not even have good examples in a language you have a reference point for. Mad respect to the linguistic researchers who can identify these patterns, and the linguistic nerds who can dive into all of that and understand it without that being their job)

I like the scene with Inosuke's questions about pride and such. Like... if someone grew up totally detached from common culture apart from at least learning basic speech, how *would* you describe an idea like "pride"? Or a sentiment like wishing someone "good luck"? And not just in the same way you'd explain it to a child, because this person *isn't* a child... they're a young adult who is going to be seeking a deeper answer that's satisfying both emotionally and intellectually. (As we saw, Inosuke kept asking questions that Tanjiro wasn't sure how to answer) And the answers that the story chooses can give us some insight into the story's frame of reference for those concepts that can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. "Pride" has kind of a general vibe across cultures, but the specifics of what it means and what things do and don't warrant pride are going to be different, sometimes even from person to person. Kinda same as the "be a man" discussion we briefly had in those first several episodes: that phrase holds so many different possible ideas depending on who's using it, that a story does kinda need to clarify what it means. I think this scene was a clever way to clarify the story's stance on "pride," seed that question for later, *and* give a character moment for Inosuke, showing his ignorance of social ideas due to his isolated upbringing. All at the same time.

The "Fate/" franchise is tricky to get into, and I'm gonna have to disagree that F/SN:[UBW] by ufotable is an inferior adaptation to the F/SN 2006 anime... that one to me felt like it had a million holes left open -- which obviously are open on purpose in the original game for other story routes to fill in. But anime can't have alternate routes, and I don't think the 2006 adaptation of F/SN did a good job of smoothing over those issues. (Like, I had to look up a bunch of stuff to understand the things I saw, which usually isn't a good sign) Fate/Zero was like 95% great since we know it's a prequel to Fate/Stay Night so we expect open questions to be answered there. (Plus it was adapted from a light novel instead of a visual novel game, so they didn't have to contend with the writing weirdness of multiple routes that each tell a piecemeal story.) And ufotable's [Unlimited Blade Works] (NOT to be confused with the 2010 movie) did a much better job of not letting those unanswered questions not distracting too much. Unfortunately [UBW] (2014) is kinda written as if it expects you to have seen F/Z, which in turn kinda expects you to have seen F/SN in some capacity, since it treats a certain pivotal reveal as a non-secret. So like... I don't really know a good solution for getting the "full effect" other than watching the 2006 F/SN and just accepting being confused until you watch further parts. I kinda wish ufotable would re-adapt that Saber route of the 2006 anime so we have a version that sits on par with the rest of their adaptations. *sigh* Fate/ is probably the most "can of worms" franchise in terms of ideas and continuity to recommend to people. Well... except maybe Gundam 🤔

aloekayeANIME

Hi!! This is actually so funny you commented this today and I saw just now, I'm making a poll rn for you guys, plan to post today, to get some insights into what series to add to the rotation!! Ty for the patience as the channel ramps up✨💫 I didn't expect to get traction this soon (which is amazing), but now I've got some editing support so I'm getting a lot more free time to record more content! Ty for being here! 💛💛💛
