I have very similar existential/health based anxiety and used to get weird trippy panic attacks thinking I was dying almost identical to what you describe with the derealization and dissociation. I haven't really fixed it my brain issues but realizing what it was did help, and like Liz was talking about there's some pretty simple grounding stuff you can do to help in the moment.

I don't get this take where people think that Biden wouldn't have dropped out. Biden would ALWAYS have dropped out. This was always the Democrats plan to keep people from having a primary because no one was going to vote for Kamala Harris or any of their other ogres and they would have to do a fake primary like they did in 2020 again. But whenever they cheat or do something fucked up they feel they can't do it the same way twice. You're right about us having no power in the grand scheme, but wrong that we weren't listened to. I'm certain i was heard, and that my views were seen as representative of some cohort of voters , I personally contributed to him dropping out because I get polled every few weeks, am on some SSRS panel that's been quizzing me about where each candidate stands on what issue and who I support etc. for the last 6 months to a year. I stuck to my guns as a "double hater" consistently telling them I was voting Cornell West unless genocide joe enforced existing statutes on arms transfers, did an arms embargo and allowed international courts to prosecute israel. i said on at least three consecutive polls that biden should be impeached for flagrantly breaking the Leahy and related laws. I said i would settle for 25th amendment but anything less was a non starter. The polls included a few open ended questions about my view of each candidate and one question to just add in any random thoughts about the election. I was not shy about my hatred for both candidates, saving the strongest vitriol for Biden re genocide,,even offering foreign policy analysis. . I did my part, made it clear how obvious their lies about his health, about israel, about his accompllishments, were. i'm certain there were people in his campaign, or maybe in the Pelosi campaign against him, but someone with skin in the game was reading those cross tabs. And I think it helped move the ball. Either that or they just dismissed me as a cat lady.
