Hmmm I wonder if the CIA director's visit to Brazil and Colombia have anything to do with the protests going on today in Cuba. Bolsanaro called Cuban doctors that were posted in rural regions and hard to access regions of Brazil "terrorists" which led to them leaving the country. However, he reversed course and asked them to come back because of the covid crisis (which they did I believe), but its no secret Brazil's covid response has been abhorrent. Colombia's government just expelled the number 2 diplomat, Omar Rafael Garcia Lazo, I believe in May for "activities incompatible" with his duties. No explanation as to what those activities are have been given by the Colombian government. Colombia and Cuba has had tense relations over the past couple of years as well.

I find it ironic this comes two days after Cuba announces its 2 shot Soberana vaccine along with a booster is 91.2% effective against covid (this is the second vaccine developed by Cuba, the first being Abdala which had similar results). It is in the process of being authorized by Cuban regulators and then will be sent to WHO for approval. One country has announced that they will be producing Soberana and that is Iran. The Cuban vaccines use a more traditional method, are much cheaper to produce, and easier to be stored and transported. Cuba however is dealing with a surge in infections and only 1.5 million of its 11 million plus population being vaccinated. Keep in mind too this past week that Pfizer announced it will be producing a booster after news from Israel states the vaccines are less effective against the delta variant..

Honestly, just speaking for myself, ever since I heard "Haiti" pronounced correctly, now I can't pronounce it the correct way properly but I also can't pronounce it "Hate-ee" anymore. Some of us are bad at talking. We can't all be Mike Judge.
