A great book on the topic of “foiled” terror plots is called Terror Factory by Trevor Aaronson. It’s nearly ten years old now, but still relevant in methodology. He identified that of almost 500 terrorism prosecutions between 9/11 and 2011, nearly half involved informants and, crucially some had been aid upwards of $100,000 PER assignment - PER. 49 defendants were involved in plots LED BY agent provocateurs, a theme that would continue to rise, and I assume still does. Considering the pivot to domestic terrorism unrelated to mid-east “sympathies”, as the Islamic threat began to fade from the public’s imagination, one wonders how many of the mass shootings were organic. Not ALL; I’m thinking of the particularly baffling in scope, à la Mandalay Bay or that shooting at a nightclub, I can’t recall the location - Santa Cruz? Florida somewhere? The internet is certainly rife with the ideal pair of FBI predators and lonely folks. Maybe I’m underestimating the capacity of independent violence, but I’m not so convinced of that randomness or even simple cultural influence anymore. Liz is right, it’s like a system that exists only to justify its necessity. Talk about make work jobs. Bastards.

Re January 6, how's this for finely tuned tinfoil hat: McConnell and Pelosi / Schumer invited the attack to discredit Trump and Trumpism...Note, the politicos were never in any real danger; the second it got even close to that level they shot that woman in the neck. It's a common tactic at regular out of control protests -- the cops will let it build for a while so they can arrest more / crack more skulls when they see fit. This is just another Freddy Gray protest on a grander scale and with diametrically opposed protestors. They get to send a "fuck around and find out" msg to radical Trumpers, nobody "important" got hurt or will do time, and certain of the milquetoast element among Trump's supporters will think "Well, gee, I liked him okay until it came to this." And so back to business as usual...

I think you guys talked about this when the April and March protests started last year, but before the militia protests at Lansing there were the anti-shutdown protests, similarly organized through Facebook pages and group chats, but rather than the FBI it was the DeVos network that organized it. Namely, the Michigan Freedom Fund, which was built out of the Right To Work campaign. Parallel that with the Protect The Vote efforts in November when all the progressive non-profits and left-wing front groups in Detroit got folded into the Democratic Party's campaign effort, which was also organized mainly through Facebook pages and text blasts. The state always comes out on top in all of this.

I question whether QAnon is tolerated/encouraged/operated by US intel. Perhaps to the kind of extent to which the Okhrana forged the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. If Jim Watkins, rumored to be in the Philippines, were really such a threat to their interests, would he not have been very easily repressed in a country crawling with CIA operations? He was also sent to a technology school in Virginia by the army to learn about early computers and the internet in the late '80s.
