I don't think people realize how recently cats mellowed out. In the 90s 7/8 cats were basically wild, dangerous animals who hated humans. You'd go to someone's house and theyd be like "oh that's just scrimbleshanks, he pisses blood and loves to bite and scream at people" you legit couldn't hold cats, they would run away from you and often times they'd smell bad too. Nice, cuddly sweet kitties didn't get released until like 2010

You’re telling me you want me to sit down and eat at your house and your animal is walking around on your kitchen counters, setting its raw asshole down on your cooking/eating surface? Disgusting. 9/10 of them aren’t even particularly friendly either. And another thing. Ever hear someone talk about a cat positively? Every time someone describes positive aspects about a cat it’s just describing a basic dog. “Oh this cat comes when you call it” like a dog? “This cat lets you pet it and sit in your lap” oh, like any dog? I’ve never met a well adjusted person with a cat. Also they shit in your house as a BY DEFAULT! A dog you take outside! Cats HAVE to shit and piss in your house! Not to mention the HORRENDOUS effects they have on local wildlife. They decimate small mammal and bird populations when people let their cats roam outside. Every outdoor cat should be euthanized. No one lets their dog roam the streets in cities but it’s okay for cats for some reason? An invasive apex predator? Truly one of the worst things we ever did was to domesticate those shit ass animals.

Adams’s testimony was a real game changer in Floyd because he testified word-for-word to how the NYPD used Stop and Frisk to “instill fear in the minds of” young Black and Hispanic men, amongst other statements that plainly incriminated the NYPD. You should have him on the show, he’s a pretty cool dude. Represented Fred Hampton’s estate (hired by Fred Hampton’s family) in the lawsuit against CPD (Chicago) for his assassination, once represented Larry Hoover, represented Michael Stewart’s estate, sued Dow, Monstanto, and the US on behalf of the victims Agent Orange for war crimes committed during the Vietnam War, and sued the City of New York on behalf of Eric Garner’s estate, and represented the Central Park Five (Raymond, Antron, Yusef, and Kevin specifically). Also just an old, life-long lefty who started out throwing rocks at California Governor Ronald Reagan, then was a CO to the Vietnam War and has been on the radical and not-so-radical left since the 60s. I went to a democratic mayoral candidacy event at my library in Manatee county Florida. The mid to late 30s dude had two under 21 kids, one of which was his campaign manager and hadn't finished his freshman year, running everything. I heard him out for 45 minutes and during the Q&A asked: "What does a mayor do? In your god honest opinion, what is the job of a mayor and what should be expected of you?" He gave extremely vauge answers that revolved around working with 'local businesses' to 'solve problems' which to me just means work with established developers and get bribed to ensure their shit gets approved. His entire platform was to fight the right wing establishment that sided with the developer hegemony in town. :(

I’ve had this exact thought but I just assumed I was the only one. Everyone ~30+ has at least one scar from a cat. Theory: once people learned about toxoplasmosis they stopped letting babies and toddlers around cats and that’s why they’re more chill now. The problem was never the cats, it was babies.
