It would be interesting if the light novel conveys this. I mentioned to another reactor that a common theme throughout the seasons has been "political disruption". Eg. prevent legitimate heirs, incite rebellion, hide how to fight locust plagues, spread toxins in food (ergot). I think keeping that in mind helps me understand the motivation of external players. It's funny to reflect on generational differences. I grew up with mercury thermometers and remember the warnings. So I recognized it almost immediately. If I recall correctly, albinism(?) comes with light sensitivity. I assumed that was why she was under the wagon tarp.

Yeah you are totally right when i read the part about maomao's description of her ideal man in the light novel i was delighted but at the same time i knew that she is going to give a whatever answer just to get them off her back, and it ended up being the quack doctor, was just a funny icing on the cake joke 😂 This episode is really interesting, the plot is getting better and thicker as we go on further in the story, this is so exciting i can't wait enough for when everything is revealed by the end of the season of course 😂 But it's Exciting nonetheless 😉

Also quick science corner about the mercury! Drinking liquid elemental mercury isn’t as toxic as some other forms bc apparently your body doesn’t really absorb elemental mercury if you eat it like that. So that may be why the white lady is able to drink it if she really is drinking it.. But mercury is absolutely so so toxic in the right forms like when you breath in the vapor and you can’t build up resistance to it! Even small amounts can basically deteriorate your body and you can have psychological/behavior changes as well! I’m so excited to see where we go from here!!

Is the white lady dangerous? I guess what she is doing is dangerous. But her reaction when she heard the high pitch sound mao mao made, seems to show her true personality. Everything else she has shown seems to be a performance. It could be that once again, just like with Suirei, the white lady is another smart young woman who is under the control of someone with immense power and is just doing what she does to survive.

That red stone that Maomao put away at the end was cinnabar--aka mercury sulfide. It's been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years.

yeah i was too!! but i think it was required to write only single digit numbers for the crowd to follow along, because guessing the number challenge is already hard and impressive enough right?? well that's my opinion anyway !!

Sooo....do you think Luomen has met Edward Elric 🤣 also had a giggle at MaoMao holding that red stone at the end, looks...familiar...😂 jk, it's solid mercury, but still a funny crossover. I am SO curious what the goal is/was with the White Lady, aside from poisonign high ranking officials. Or....well that's probably part of it. Puzzle pieces are falling into place and things are slowly collapsing behind the scenes.

the close up shot at the very end of the caged doves in the same cart as her makes me think there's some element of her being a tool for some other force for sure. Not to mention the story of the young girl held against her will in the fire-rats cloak episode

i remember doing the experiment to plate copper with silver then gold in my high school chemistry class I always feel like im just along for the ride with TAD. Like I know the puzzle pieces are being given to us each episode but Im gonna need Maomao to put them together for me lol
