Emperor Consort Orbis placed a gentle hand on his wife’s arm.

“Perhaps we should maintain at least a little formality as we get to know one another. People can find a lack of ceremony when meeting royalty to be unsettling, even more intimidating than encountering them in more formal settings.”

“Nah, we’re good,” Belinda said. “We know this guy. I’m not going to get into it, but he makes the whole ceremonial thing hard.”

“He’s a bad influence,” Neil added.

“It has led to many of our encounters with those in power to be more informal than would otherwise be the case,” Humphrey said. “His defiance in the face of kings, diamond-rankers, gods, and great astral beings has been a consistent source of difficulty, to the point that our perspective on such encounters has become rather unconventional.”

“Meaning yes, he’s a very bad influence,” Sophie said.

“To be clear,” Estella said, nervously raising her hand, “that doesn’t really include me. I’m happy to be very respectful and intimidated.”

“That must be some friend,” Empress Lumen said. “I don’t suppose this is your young man they’re talking about, Daughter?”

“How did you… he’s a young man, not my young man.”

“Told you,” Belinda quietly said to Neil, who grumpily pulled out a gold spirit coin to hand over.

The empress and her husband shared a delighted parental glance.

“Helsveth,” Orbis said. “What is your opinion on this?”

“It is not my place to second-guess the hierophant, Your Majesty.”

“At least someone has some decorum,” Dawn muttered. “Mother, Father, there is something that I have been keeping from you. Given my position under the World-Phoenix, and yours as the rulers of the Imperium, it behoved me to maintain certain confidences. Now that you have taken in this group, the time has come to share the nature of an affiliation they and I share.”

“We can talk all about it over dinner,” Lumen told them. “We have a small meal put together upstairs, so let’s all come along. You will be joining us, won’t you Helly?”

“There are duties as First Sister that I must attend to, Empress.”

The Empress’ smile didn’t change, yet it somehow caused the temperature around Helsveth to precipitously drop.

“You will be joining us, won’t you, Helly?”

“I would be delighted, Empress.”

“Is this castle a dimensional space?” Jason asked as he looked around like a tourist. “How did those giants fit in here? And I did not see a mammoth pen.”

The restored castle held little resemblance to the decrepit version of itself it had been while corrupted. At a glance it looked like a castle town, centred around a large keep, but inside it was more akin to a palace. As large as it was, however, it did not have the room to hold all the undead who had poured out of it. Jason and his familiars were being shown around by the four people who had approached them after being released from undeath.

“Don’t know what happened with the palace,” said Baloc, the massive orc. With his broad shoulders and handsome features, Jason had to be careful about not calling him Green Humphrey.

“I was somewhere else, then I was here,” Baloc continued. “Didn’t think about it. Didn’t think about anything.”

“You don’t think when you’re a corrupted undead soul,” said Lalia. She was the scaled techno-knight, from a species called the Varen. “Thank you again for releasing us from that awful condition. As for the palace and how many emerged from it, the rules of reality we knew from life mostly apply in this realm, but not always.”

“Like your astral space, Mr Asano,” Shade explained, “this space is not a normal physical reality. The rules that govern it are mutable. Perhaps your aura will be able to make use of that.”

Jason pulled up the description of his aura power’s new ability to look at it again.

Ability: [Hegemony] (Sin)

Current rank: Diamond 0 (00%).

Effect (diamond): Manipulate fundamental physical and magical laws within the area of your aura. Cannot affect the areas within spiritual domains or unsuppressed hostile auras.

[Addendum]: As possessor of a spiritual domain, you may express its power through your aura. The strength of that expression is determined by the strength of the aura and advancement of this ability.

[Error]: Prime avatar is sealed from source of spiritual power. Prime avatar may not express power of spiritual domain until access to source is restored.

He frowned, just as he had every time he looked it over. He’d been hoping that his aura reaching diamond-rank would have compensated for how diminished it had become from being sealed. While there had been a boost in strength, it was far from what he was used to. He was also unsure about the power itself. Changing fundamental laws sounded good on paper, but he could sense the power within himself. The effects he could muster, at least for the moment, were negligible. Until his power returned in full, his aura was the ability most impacted by what Umber had done to him.

“You’re looking at that thing again, aren’t you?” asked Aeora, whose species did turn out to be called wind fairies.

“Yeah, sorry,” Jason said.

Of the four people Jason had met after purging their undead status, Aeora was the only one who had not been an essence user in life, relying on inherent magic for her gold-rank power.

The System, allowing them to quantify their powers more readily, had become a source of fascination since Jason introduced them to it. They had been twisted undead when it had first come into place, so it was new to them all. Aeora was feeling left out, her native magic not being connected to the System.

They resumed the tour of the castle. As they walked, the group had been sharing information with Jason in gratitude for their liberation. They had little to offer about the details of how their afterlife worked, with Shade knowing more than they did in many instances. What they could offer was basic information that Jason would need as he navigated the realm.

“When we aren’t corrupted, we are much as we were in life” explained Yujin, the human member of the four. “We have the same rank, the same powers. Most are essence users, or those with native magic, like Aeora. There are some who are different, though, using magic in ways I never encountered in life. Employing essence for magic without absorbing them, or magic without essences at all.”

“I’ve heard of this,” Jason said, “but never run into it myself. Of course, I wasn’t exactly a cosmopolitan citizen of the cosmos, so that’s no surprise.”

“Few are,” Lalia said. “Most civilisations rise and fall without the people in them ever leaving their planet, let alone their universe.”

“Lalia is from the most advanced society of all of us,” Yujin said.

“Probably long gone now,” Lalia said. “If we have been in this compromised state for as long as you say, I doubt even a galactic civilisation would have endured. And if it has, I doubt I would recognise what it has become.”

She bowed her head, letting out a sigh before continuing.

“It troubles me, what has happened here. This place was meant to be a paradise where I could live out eternity in adventure, battle and the hunt. After what has transpired, I find my thoughts drifting to what I had in life. It was not something I considered before, in all the time I have existed here.”

“How long is that, if I may ask?” Jason said.

Lalia frowned, as if reaching for a memory just out of her grasp.

“Time and its perception are not as they are in normal reality here, Mr Asano,” Shade said. “There is a reason that Raythe is wary of this place going awry. That abnormal time serves as a psychological buffer against the challenges of existing through eternity.”

“Does that mean it operates by fey circle rules? I could get out of here only to find out that a thousand years have passed on Earth?”

“No,” Shade said. “In fact, I believe that you are the source of Miss Lalia’s troubles. Your ability to stabilise realities has normalised the time here. Without the natural time shift altering their perceptions, their minds are turning to more mortal concerns.”

“You mean I’m hurting them just by being here?”

“This is not a place for the living, Mr Asano. A mortal would have been affected by it, but you are a cosmic entity who shapes reality around yourself. The impact in this case, is on this afterlife.”

“Meaning that I need to fix this place and get out as soon as I can. So, the original plan.”

“Just so,” Shade agreed.

They continued their way through the castle.

“I don’t know what we’re going to do,” Aeora said. “Many of us were drawn here from elsewhere, apparently to fight you.”

“Like a body drawing in resources to fight disease,” Yujin said. “But this body is already corrupted, its own defence mechanisms transforming it like a cancer.”

“Baloc and I lived in this place,” Lalia said, “but many of those now outside did not. Many will be wondering what to do next. Should they try to return where they came from? If they could even find those, they would only encounter more corruption. I imagine they, like me, fear becoming corrupted again.”

“This place has room for many, but not enough,” Baloc said. “Nowhere to stay, nowhere to go.”

“There are a lot of people out there who don’t understand what is happening, or what to do about it,” Aeora said.

“People in here, too,” Baloc muttered.

“The first thing is to get people organised as best we can,” Lalia said. “Those of us from here can see about trying to house the others. Obviously there will be problems, like finding a place for the giants, but we can at least get a start.”

“I can’t help you with that,” Jason said. “What I can do is look into potential threats. When you were all changed, you seemed to have an instinctive desire to attack. Did you sense my approach and attack when I was close enough, or only start moving once I was close enough to detect.”

“I cannot speak for the others,” Lalia said, “but my memory from that other state is hazy at best. I believe I moved the moment I sensed you. I had a sense of something alien. Something that I needed to destroy. The moment it came over me I scrambled with a frenzied need to do just that.”

“Okay,” Jason said. “Looks like things kick off the moment I get close enough, so no sneaking into undead towns. It’s just rock up and go ham. Lalia, you said you’re from here. Can you point me toward the nearest population centre that doesn’t have any diamond-rankers?”

“Are you going to try and cleanse it, as you did us?” Yujin asked.

“Yep. I need to conquer this planet, because I’ve got stuff to do.”

“Small meal,” Neil said. His eyes were wide as some of the plates as he looked at a banquet that could have fed a guild. “I have to point out, your majesties, that my decorum lessons mostly covered small noble houses in a small city on a remote planet. I was never instructed on the etiquette of shovelling mounds of food into my dimensional bag for later.”

“Neil,” Humphrey scolded, earning a chuckle from Empress Lumen.

“No, Neil is in the right,” Dawn said. “In our culture, it is considered rude and extravagant to waste resources of any kind. It comes from the realities of living in places that are so heavily engineered. When presented with excess food, it is considered rude not to take and store the remainder for later. To refrain is an insult to the host. It is also rude not to have an excess to be taken, although some people can be excessive in their excess.”

Neil and Belinda flashed a grin at each other and headed for the tables. Sophie shook her head and followed, as did Clive with a shrug. Estella looked to Humphrey and Rufus for etiquette tips, deciding that following their lead was the best way to stay out of trouble.

The dining chamber was octagonal, with buffet tables set out but no chairs or anywhere else to sit. There were stations with plates that would float around the people who claimed them, flying off to be washed once emptied of food.

“This is a traditional imperial-style feast hall,” the empress explained to Humphrey as they stood together, filling hovering plates from a cornucopia of roasted vegetables. “It is designed for eating on your feet, sampling many things as you mingle with other guests.”

“Jason would adore this,” Humphrey said.

“This is your absent friend? The one who my Dawn is…”

“I honestly don’t know what is between them,” Humphrey said to her leading question. “I know that things become complex when lifespans are so long, but I am a simple man when it comes to such things. I have someone I love and will hold on to her for as long as she wishes me to. Jason, I think, has adjusted to what immortality means to relationships better than I. Whatever is between him and your daughter, I cannot say. I do know that he likes powerful women. And princesses.”

“Ah. He’s one of those.”

“No. Well, yes. Well, no. Honestly, I don’t know exactly what you mean, but probably.”

“Do you respect this man?”

“Immensely. Jason has his foibles, but under all the foolishness and buffoonery, he is a hero to the core.”

“A hero?”

“Yes. A childish conceit, perhaps, the good guy standing up to the bad guy. But one worth aspiring to, and something the cosmos sorely needs. He’s proven that more than once.”

“That’s quite a claim. Are you sure you’re not underestimating the scale of the cosmos?”

“That is a discussion for after dinner,” Dawn said as she approached the pair. “One we should have with Lord Cazus.”

“Now, that is interesting,” Lumen said. “Why would you want to talk with the Director of Imperial Intelligence about some boy? Do you need us to spy on him?”

“You probably should,” Belinda said around a mouthful of food as she walked by. “He did fix the cosmic throne and become the new great astral being.”

“WHAT?” exclaimed the emperor, who had been pretending not to listen.

Current rank: Diamond 0 (00%). Effect (diamond): Manipulate fundamental physical and magical laws within the area of your aura. Cannot affect the areas within spiritual domains or unsuppressed hostile auras. HOLY FUCK. That’s big

Marcus Aurelius

The pacing on these chapter releases is insane 🔥🔥🔥thank you! 🍻

mhaj58

Dang, Dawns parents are so much fun!! They’ll get along so well with Jason

Hayden Leech

I love the bouncing back between the team and Jason. I think sticking to either one would have people miffed about wanting to see the other. Although people will be miffed about this too lol.

Nick Sarver

I love this chapter. I really like the way the characters interact with beings with so much power but are so nonchalant because of their relationship with Jason. I wonder if Jason is going to be able to reverse army Thadwick and show how much power a single being at almost diamond rank can conquer a planet

Izraifel

“Yes. A childish conceit, perhaps" Should conceit be concept?

Baggie Hunter2

I want Jason to meet Dawn’s father and it to be just like Rufus dad. Or anything to just mess with him.

Dragon Slayer

The ending 😂😂😂😂 its so great

Inderpal Kooner

Absolutely. I want both Jason's BS while casually fixing reality and Dawn's family's WTF moment

jeffrey niski

Yeah no biggie, dawns potential baby daddy is just a burgeoning GAB

Ligeia

No, it's an actual phrase. A childish conceit means a childlike belief, often held long past childhood, often with negative connotation.

Ligeia

So are we to believe that Jason and Dawn are a permanent-ish item? At least Dawn's parents seem to think so!

Marter

Dawn you’ve been holding out on your parents lol

Soulessone

I love seeing people who know how crazy what Jason did

Timothy

I sorta expected a projectile spitting of food before the WHAT??!!!

Jeff

So what I'm getting is that Jason could blow someone up like Dr Manhattan with his aura alone now....Shirt I only have one request pleasseee

Nate Hada

I wonder if they like amphoras

Ocellus

I can’t wait for this dinner convo! Jason’s POV can wait

Hayden Leech

I would hope so haha. We only get four more chaps before the next multi month break

Psykohamster

Sounds like the version of the afterlife Jason is fixing is an eternal WoW session.

Agent P.

Ooohhhh I like Dawn's Parents.

Richard Sawyer

LOVE that ending! So glad it's not Friday.

Brad Gammey

I read the first line and smiled.

Ruari Yeen

When the guy on your team who isn't even the team leader is a great astral being, royalty from *just* a single plane of existence isn't that big a deal. The team is more worried about being embarrassingly provincial hahaha. Well that and how to store all that food, of course

Jarrett Glass

If he doesn't offer him prime amphora investment opportunities I may be upset

Ruari Yeen

Yeah the real issue is that we "only"get three chapters a week! Lmao

Dax

What is the etiquette for responding to the Imperial Spit Take?

Ty

Fantastic chapters I'm loving this arc of the story a lot

Bryan Jackson

Right? Just off the top of my head: "Magic no longer exists for you"

Izraifel

Ah ty for the correction. I hadn't heard that phrase before and was curious.

Joe

Omggggg it just keeps getting better and better 👏👏👏

Ruben

The interactions between dawn and Zara will be... interesting.

NicN

Tftc

Taylor Herlihy

I am enjoying these new chapters. IMMENSELY

Hayden Leech

Or slow down time so they move at like 1% speed. Or heck. Just remove concepts like he does in his kingdom. Dawn full force punched a silver rank Jason and hurt herself. Can he do that…anywhere now? Whoa

Mitha

Royalty gets a really good image in shirts story. I wonder if he had his own princess somewhere

Marcus Aurelius

First off I’m 100% team Dawn on this one. Zara was cool but never let a GF get in the way of a wife. Secondly I appreciate cliffhangers but I despise them lol.

Dave

Oh my lol, TFTC

Blake Dotts

The first meeting with dawn's parents....oh hello your emperorness, I heard you are looking to invest into blue oyster bars...I have a pamphlet right here..shuffles...shuffles..looks at the top pamphlet... you wouldn't happen to have access to extrodinarily nice underpants would you?

Kristy Riedel

Dawn has successfully transcended, but we don't know what she became. It seems she should be called by that new rank rather than by hierophant ( which is a title defining her by her previous job) .

Kalanaere

Yeah because they will totally tag team Jason

Kalanaere

I think she's still considered a Hierophant

Ruben

Good way or bad way?

Kalanaere

So we have Dawn's mother fishing for information. We have Dawn wanting to call the Spy Master. We have Humphrey dancing around the topic all polite like and then you get Belinda who just up-ends the entire convo with yeah your daughter has been? Is still? In a relationship with the new GAB and guy that fixed the Cosmic Throne. Soo my thought says the next words from The Empress to Dawn: Sooo Daughter when do I get Grandchildren?

Jachin Nelson

Lets be honest. Both. The answer is both

Marcus Aurelius

That’s a good point unless the standing etiquette is a rank cap of hierophant. It’s already a pretty small elite group and it doesn’t seem like people get too much face time with hierophants let alone transcendent’s. Former hierophants may not be as forth coming or involved in cosmic communities to really have a name beyond that.

CaptainYumYum12

“WHAT?” Insert bombastic sideye from hump to Belinda

Stephanie Washburn

Agreed. This was a good way to layer in the mix of serious and not, without things going too far one way or the other.

Stephanie Washburn

Weirdly it's from the same word as "That person is so conceited". Which means that person has a really high opinion of themselves, like they imagine themself as being really moral and important and cool, but they're not.

Tartlet

I want it to be the other way around. For the dad to try to out Jason Jason

Mo

Ok, so, I just played catch up with chapters... Once Jason kills Knowledge, is Clive going to become the new Knowledge?

Chris Foote

I understand she became heirophant when she was no longer first sister?

RonGAR

Sooo Jason is going to end up w/ Dawn then??? Orrrr are we doing a Harem? --------- That's right... Jason isn't a nobody... he is more Higher ranked than Dawn's Parents. LOLOLOL ------ "I need to conquer this planet, because I got stuff to do" - Most BadAss Line Jason ever spoke.

Flogan nanagan

I hope not, bro gets annoyed at anyone dumber than him already. He’d be kinda terrible at the whole “guiding people to the truth” thing

Arieh Sochaczevski

Father of the girl he likes… he won’t be bowing, but he’s not going to go full Jason on him either. He’s probably going to treat him like he treated Shiro at first.

curtis gatley

actually cackled at this comment while on the treadmill

Shaggy Werth

Or he could one-up Soramir's "what the fuuuck?!" by going "what in the cosmic fuuuck?!"

Shaggy Werth

Idk, if Dawn puts even 0.1% effort into talking him into it, he will. She must be infinitely annoyed that her parents are still calling her Dawnie after... an indeterminate amount of eons. Jason would do that shit for her in a heartbeat.

Paul Birchenough

They're probably distant relations to Clive's ex-wife, so they'll take her side.

Gh0st-Hunt3r

Straight up I cant wait till they meet LOL

Paul Birchenough

A duck walks into a bar and asks the bartender for a pint. The concept is that bars are a place to get pints from bartenders, the conceit is that talking animals exist and bartenders know this fact. I think it's roughly how it works.

Gh0st-Hunt3r

“I don’t know what we’re going to do,” Aeora said. “Many of us were drawn here from elsewhere, apparently to fight you.” ???? Were these souls "BROUGHT" to this afterlife From ANOTHER afterlife specifically To Fight Jason ?? and if so By Whom ? Not the reaper because if they were already corrupted before they got there then its from another corrupted afterlife???

Tommy Kim

Totally agree. I was a bit dissatisfied with a couple of the previous books that seemed too Jason-centric.

Zachary Turley

I don't think I quite understood what this could mean until I read your comment. Any possibility that his new aura could rewrite the laws for Knowledge given enough power, possibly using his own soul domains to support it after he manages to suppress her aura? Or even possibly the upgrade from Diamond to transcendent allowing him to rewrite even larger laws of any kind? I imagine that as Jason was able to relatively easy upgrade his aura power to diamond when he finally decided on who he wanted to be. Possibility of upgrading his aura power from Diamond to Transcendent relatively easily after he defeats knowledge and that is how he kills her. Becomes the actual person who will keep the gods, astral beings, and such from breaking their laws and rules again or going completely haywire, especially since it was already mentioned they are already trying to circumvent or find loopholes again. While the Throne is repaired, there is always the possibility of something goig wrong. Jason doesn't want to be the nanny but has done so when needed time and time again.

Mutny

I understood it as them beeing gathered from other 'settlements' within this afterlife

J Holmes

They said "I LOVE SEEING PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW CRAZY WHAT JASON DID" ... and presumably forgot the "is" at the end.

John Durrett

The salient point to me is that he must be able to suppress their aura in order for it to work against someone.

GentlemanG33k

Theory of the day: Neil and Belinda have the most bets going at any time, but Sophie and Belinda have the most entertaining bets

John Durrett

Orrrr he could start calling her Dawnie when he wants to infuriate her to her her off balance, maybe even a tumble? ;)

John Durrett

I thought they did more of an energy exchange, dual cultivation thing then a physical sex thing

John Durrett

He is a dimensional man of mystery ;)

John Durrett

Ignore and move on? With a sly grin of course!

Shylo132

Definition: A conceit is a noun that generally refers to an excessively high opinion of oneself (vanity) or a fanciful, elaborate, and surprising metaphor. The word originates from the Latin term for "concept" or "to take into the mind". Sounds proper to me mate!

John Durrett

Mmm he does hate nitwits but he champions the sharing of knowledge which he repeatedly berated bureaucrats for

Ligeia

Right, but Dawn has now become fully transcendent unless she wants to manifest an avatar, and Jason is halfway there. So an energy exchange is probably going to be more practical for them anyway!!

John Durrett

Coin exchange handoff over bets never gets old for me. Tyftc

Ranon Ramos

Love where youre going with this book. I think this ones shaping up to be my favorite of the series

Jalk

Each chapter ending makes me crave the next chapter. Really enjoying where this is going!

Malnayil

I like getting both, is it just me though, or do the chapters seem significantly shorter than they used to. Not complaining, just noticing, I know shirts not been doing well for a good while, and am glad to see him writing again regardless. The seemingly shorter chapters are frustrating, only because I really enjoy this story, and the split perspectives on top make it all the shorter. Yeah I know, I want my cake and to eat it too lol.

Malnayil

Oh shit, is it that soon already?

Joanna

Valhalla

Daniel Wills

So…. what happens when Jason turns this dead universe into another one of his domains? The reaper wouldn’t care as long as the souls are cleansed and go on their way, right?

Philipp Battenberg

@Ruari If I remember correctly, the empire spans more than one universe, but I agree that being a GAB trumps it.

Daniel Wills

It’s a difficult balancing act. We love it because we have a set amount of time between chapters. But once it’s in book form and you don’t have time to percolate between chapters? It can be a lot.

Malnayil

Very true. Ive enjoyed this story from ch1, kind of dread it ending, kind of excited to see where it ends up.

Esther Prenosil

He's fine with being a GAB it's the god stuff he keeps grumbling about.

Esther Prenosil

I raise you, Jason pretending to be some random gold ranker (possibly by the name of John miller) when he meets Dawn's parents. Someone else has to tell them that this is the new GAB they want to have a good first impression of them!

Esther Prenosil

I think it was intergalactic, but I could be wrong.

Esther Prenosil

I think Gabriel becoming the new knowledge would be more likely. Then again, that would make Travis sad.

Esther Prenosil

If I may add to your theory: Stash doesn't do any of the betting himself, but he does come up with some of the best/weirdest things for the team to bet on. Also, Roofus tried to join the betting pool while he was part of the team, but he was terrible at predicting Jason. He eventually got mad and just decided to bet on the moast insane, improbable thing he could think of. That was the first time he won a bet.

Razor Frost

I think you all miss the biggest benefit. Making food taste better with his aura.

Esther Prenosil

✨Helly will hearby be bullied into getting nice things. ✨ It's actually really crazy how easy it is to forget she was raised in a cult.

Kingsley

That "WHAT?" was perfectly timed and executed. Lovely.

Kalanaere

I understood it more as this Afterlife is much like Jason's Kingdom. These souls were scattered all about in their own factions if you will. Umber or whomever drew them all together across the domain to throw at Jason. They're not all from the same time line let alone universe I don't think

Idan tal

I really really can’t wait for the next chapter. Well done!

Bobby Bays

Yep I love being able to read about what Jason and the team are up to and being able to watch them learn and grow stronger at the time. I definitely hope it continues until the whole team is back together again.

Bobby Bays

As much as I love Jason, Neil is also one of my absolute favorite characters experience their interactions together as well as watching Jason's personality rubbing off on Neil a bit when he's interacting with higher ranking people is great.

Chelsea

You are absolutely right 😂 Jason priorities

socialleech

@John, although I think you are right, the way Shako reacts to them coming back afterwards definitely implied that either there was more or that the energy exchange/dual cultivation thing is effectively the same for high rankers.

socialleech

Yeah, Zara has complications on Palli because of her association with the Storm Kingdom. And the Storm Kingdom feels kind of... low brow for someone of Jason's status now. Plus there is a bit of a power imbalance between them, even if she hits diamond (and maybe even eventually transcendent). Dawn on the other hand is a Space Princess that has worked at close to the same levels as Jason has been. She, maybe more than almost anyone else in the cosmos, understands him and (maybe surprisingly) actually likes him. Dawn might be able to do better, but I find it hard to imagine Jason can do better than her. Nearly anyone else that even comes close will not already be a friend and would almost certainly be looking to gain something. So, I'm with you. 100% team Dawn. And the Zara relationship was always posed as a fling that couldn't last anyway.

Alejandro Piña

I wonder why they hadn’t mentioned the system as of yet

Ormus Von Orbulon

I always thought that Jason's little... "Association" with Zara, the Hurricane Princess --- the rediculous first meeting, the little party/feast afterward during which nothing noteworthy happened --- followed by -- after a long absence -- Jason being profoundly pissed off at her, and carrying on his somewhat immature little grudge for an egregious length of time --- followed, yet further by him and Zara apparently making up, and starting the long--speculated--upon relationship, that was almost immediately interrupted -- then, awkwardly continued several decades later, after the Cosmic Throne incident and returning to Earth --- to be, honestly -- cute, fumbling, frustrating and fairly hot -- but ultimately, gravely flawed. I understand Zara's insecurity, and greatly respect Jason's willingness to commit, but I always felt his connection to Dawn -- though much less "involved" -- to be far more 'Robust' -- and altogether more Cosmically Unique. -- If, in the fullness of time, Jason ended up with Dawn, rather than Zara, I would wholeheartedly approve.

Marcus Aurelius

That was extremely validating and I thank you lol 😂

Marcus Aurelius

I don’t think Jason was ever really over Dawn since they first hooked up. He got with Zara but once he saw Dawn again transcended, 😏 he was so cagey about dating her saying these things had a way of dying out. So funny to me plus he doesn’t have any painting by Zara hanging in his house just saying.

Crysus

Banter and baffonery chapters are always my favourite ☺️

Kristy Riedel

According to Soromir, a hierophant is someone who once held a position of power they have now moved beyond. Dawn may always be called a Hierophant of the WP, certainly by the cult of the WP, but I want to know what role she created for herself when she successfully transcended. That transcendent title will be a higher rank than Hierophant, and we always refer to people by their highest ranks. A retired general who is appointed secretary of state is called by the rank of secretary because it is higher than general.

Kallisti _

I do get Danielle vibes from Dawn's mother, so I can see her saying that.

Oliver

Dawn is presumably many thousands of years old. And why would she be an only child? What makes you assume that she does not have dozens already?

Baggie Hunter2

Holy s that would be awesome as well Also why stop at gold rank maybe even lower

Mo

Now there's an idea. Travis becomes the new Knowledge and Gabrielle's faith is restored

TK Jack

These cliffhangers are too edging

Greg Szarko

I love learning about both at the same time when the chapters are being released on patreon.

Mason Ryel

I love the ending but was hoping for a bit more than just “WHAT”. He needs to spit out some food or something lol. Something totally undignified for a ruler of his standard to do!

Ken Lukasewicz

I think making the chapters 50-60 pages each would clear all this up.

Collector of Stories

Well we finally see why his aura power is called Hegemony lol

Logos

I think Clive's going to become the Speaker/Voice (I don't remember the term) for the Celestial Book. Like what Dawn was for the World-Phoenix.

ABTelford

In this chapter the contrast between the two groups entering two different palaces was great reason to bounce between the two pov’s. And I loved both. Great to have you back! Take it easy to keep your health up first and foremost. And thanks for the chapters!

Gotrek65

Ah now that feels like a perfect ending to the chapter. A king of an empire being awe struck at what Jason did LOL

Mr IHHI

Think I’m enjoying Team Biscuit more than Jason right now. Jason is in typical isekai mode again, what’s more interesting is those picking up the pieces. What’s happening on earth, in the storm kingdom, inside Jason’s astral kingdom, on the messenger prison planet - so many interesting places that are more than hack, slash, level up

Went back to the Storm Kingdom (with the boatload of other folks) to take up some sort of duties.

I have a feeling that once the new grind gets well established for Jason, the story will move on to exactly that stuff, while looking back in on him every so often, the way it did with the grind to gold

Ryan Beeman

I just watch Fung Fury again, and I am now convinced that it is a fever dream that Jason or one of his constructs had at some point.

Chris Layman

He can turn off death within the range of his aura. "System Message: you are now in the presence of the Hegemon, this is a non-combat region"

Chris Layman

Call it whatever you want, they had sex the way diamond rankers usually do it and they've been really chummy ever since. And they both dodge when anyone asks about it.

Chris Layman

Dawn sat by patiently while Jason was dating Asya, she has an immortal's outlook on these things

Scott Faulkner

Good job Belinda keep them off kilter... then steal the silver

GentlemanG33k

Neil caught on and Hump is never aloud to be the judge again

MatthewM

Prime vessel. He would need to accept a star seed of the celestial book and be a part of it's cult both are unlikely based on his character so far. I think he is more likely to become Jason's second defier just to constantly see Jason's crazy shit and correct his stupidity

Joseph Hill

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Jason unlock his Avatars ability to reconnect with his infinite power somehow, maybe this is a clue : Prime avatar is sealed from source of spiritual power. Prime avatar may not express power of spiritual domain until access to source is restored… but he could sense the power within himself. The effects he could muster, at least for the moment, were negligible. Until his power returned in full, his aura was the ability most impacted by what Umber had done to him. Naturally doing the impossible is kinda his thing.

In response to Mitha, it's not so much that royalty gets a good image so much as royal only occupies extremes in the story. It seems all royalty is either fully down to "earth" and has a great image, or is either fully corrupted or nearly so with about as poor an image as possible. It very clearly divides all royalty into the "will get along with Jason" or "will not get along with Jason" camps with very little grey area between, which is ironic given how often shirt brings up the grey areas.

I cannot help myself, but does a diamond ranker actually have to swallow? Or does the food in their mouthes just vanish to be absorbed because that is what they wish for?

Oliver

The last few chapters have raised a question. If the soul guarding the sword in the City of Fallen Echos was Shade's old summoner and Shade is unhappy about that, why did Shade not know about the sword while the team was there for the second time?

JW Saxby

🤣 loved this 😁👍🏼 Tyftc 🍻

BiscuitLover

lol so glad we get to see this reaction from Dawns parents🙌🏽 I assumed they would have known

TheLionOfThePacific

I think that's more a function of power dictating nobility and the fact power requires competency. If you go back to some of the original books I think you'll find that the lower on the totem pole the noble the room there is for petty tyranny and evil. The high-power nobles can still be selfserving but are better at manipulating the situation to their benefit.

Crystal Donak

I feel dumb but I still don't quite get it. I find sometimes I dont always understand the powers until there is a description of a use of them. (I ha

Hayden Leech

Imagine Jim Carrey in “the mask” but Jason. But instead of an immediate vicinity Jason can do this shit over hundreds of kilometers. He is basically dragging his kingdom into the real world

gray matter

Emperor consort and Emperor are different titles… they get mixed up a bit in these chapters. Emperor consort is the lover of the emperor. Emperor is the one with the power, if they are equal then just emperor and empress. Also he would be the Empress’s Consort.

Michael Cain

I dunno, I'm atleast disappointed in Belinda .... kneeling to someone she doesn't know... I would have liked for atleast one of his teammates to have learned that bad example from Jason... and use the argument of "it always works out for him in the end". Or in an ironic twist Humphrey be the one who doesn't kneel cause they had a team discussion on it and decided not to kneel beforehand.... but everyone else kneels cause it would be funny to throw Hump under the bus like that 🤣

granndfunk

You know what I love? When the final book in a long series introduces a bunch of randos who don't matter.

StarkRG

No, Emperor Consort is like the title of Queen Consort, he's the husband of the reigning Empress. She's the ruler, he's just the husband.

Aizen Weeks

He is Emperor Consort so they might just run off to a sandwich shop

Kevari

I could’ve sworn Jason could allow non essence users access to the system at will. Maybe being in an afterlife is messing with that?

phil

man coming off of book 13 i could not care less about this no offence im sure its great and funny but damn i am so bored reading this lmao again no offence its just that book 13 left on a cliffhanger basically and was hoping this would be a training montage more than a where are they now situation

GTRoid

Helsveth with Knowledges Diamond rankers, Helsveth with Dawn's parents... this is the prime example of 'There are Diamond rankers, and then there are Diamond Rankers,
