The issue of net neutrality has again come to the forefront of our fight to maintain our digital rights.

In this video I give a very low level (non-techie) explanation of what Net Neutrality is and why it must be preserved.   I do also provide some of my personal opinions *gasp* on how to truly address this problem.

We need to have this conversation outside of our any "techie" echo chamber - this issue effects everyone in the modern world, regardless of their technical savvy.

The internet has been an incredible tool for changing the world and it is teetering on a precipice that could turn it back into just another mechanism for the "old media".  We can not let this occur.

More importantly, spread the message and ensure that everyone you know understands the magnitude of the risk, techie or not!

If you are suggesting the government handle this issue you are so wrong.

The government never has the good of the people in mind. Weather it be healthcare, energy or guns name me one area the government is involved in that has gone well. With the government it's never about the issue it's about control. Also if you think that this is just one issue government creep always happens. The government also has a bad habit of picking winners and losers and they usually pick badly. You invite the government in than all the bad things you think might happen with the internet will. And they will be enforce at the point of a gun.

So what's the point of government at all then? just get rid of it ...

i twittered this vid a few times, now that net neutrality is gone. i think karl is right about a digital bill of rights. govt will always find a way to justify regulation, and a bill of rights will at least put the bureaucrats on the defensive.
