Hey guys! This is part 1 of a new series covering a product based projection. In this particular case I will be using a Raspberry Pi Pico, but you can follow along with any other electronic CAD model you guys decide to use. I have included some of the project files below if you decide to follow along with this particular asset.
In part 1 I will be discussing how/where you can source some CAD files for free from manufacturers. Initial research on branding assets from the Raspberry Pi Foundation. I will then move to importing this CAD data into Moi3D, a great artist friendly CAD tool for fast modelling and booleans. You can of course use another CAD tool like Fusion360, I just like Moi3D's perpetual license and supporting an small indie developer. http://moi3d.com
I will show you the basics of Moi3D's UI, the different tools and how we can use them to begin adding details to our base CAD model we downloaded using booleans, arrays and bevels. In part 2 we will be picking up where we left off and begin the import and export process to Houdini and Zbrush using FBX.
The project files can be downloaded below, thanks again guys for all the support! Have a wonderful day.
