The layered writing for this anime is so good. First there is lot of interest regarding the main characters and their own personal stories. Then there's different cases that keep the anime going and its really fascinating how each mystery is a mini-episode in itself and slowly reveals the psyche of the people central to the story while also being true to time period in which the drama is set. There's mystery, psychology, political intrigue, morality. All of it woven so well. There's both emotion and detachments of the character's of the fact this is how it was and the balance is what makes this anime so special. Thanks for this PD.

i love the writing of this show, everything is so nuanced. you’ll see as you continue on but each episode is its own piece of a very large puzzle and its so mind blowing to me how the writer was able to create such a complex story bringing in details from the very beginning of the story to the end of each story arc

also i havent listened to the show in its original japanese in forever because i just love the dub (i think the voices fit them so well) but i forgot the how deep the emperor’s voice is here bc its more playful and light in the dub and this voice truly makes him seem so evil but he’s actually really chill lmaoo

I just finished s1 after my friend recommended it to me, im happy to watch it again alongside you. I never read or watched Sherlock Holmes but when I watched it reminded me of Detective Conan, ig in a way its similar to Sherlock Homes, solving a case per episode. The director of the show also worked on The ancient magus bride which was one of my favorite shows of the year it released and in many ways I can see similarites beteen those two shows. Cant wait for you to watch more. This show real is about the characters, the people, their struggles and emotions, ah its just so good.

How the show handles women's issues in the show is actually how me and the women around me handle women's issues today. "welp it sucks, lets navigate it as we usually do" is the normal attitude women around me have. Western women seem to have a more proactive attitude towards gender issues.
