Chapter 31
My response silenced the room for a few moments before they pulled themselves together.
“T-two years!?” Exclaimed Hikari in surprise. “Will it really take you that long?”
“Yeah, aren’t you like super strong now? Why would it take you so long?” Kushina asked next with a frown on her face.
“Did you learn something recently?” Izumi asked taking on a pensive look and looking at me curiously.
“Yeah, you could say that.” I nodded my head glad that someone had caught on making the others blink and pay close attention to me.
“When I defeated Toneri, I was able to see his memories and I learned that the Otsutsuki Clan had somehow become aware of my presence and are sending some of their members to take care of me and finish absorbing the chakra of this world.” I revealed with a small frown on my face feeling relieved that I had managed to evolve already.
The Otsutsuki while being a clan of leeches, they had some strong members in their ranks and I would have had trouble fighting more than one if I hadn’t evolved.
“Akatsuki? The Otsutsuki? Absorb the chakra of this world? I’m sorry Sensei but I’m feeling a little lost here.” Hanabi suddenly chimed in with a confused look on her face that was mirrored by her sister.
“Right, sorry about that. Here let me fix that.” I apologized to the girls. ‘Ciel, do you mind?’ I asked my Manas silently asking her to share my some of my memories with the girls about the subjects we were discussing.
“On it Master.” Ciel was quick to respond already knowing what I was intending and used Thought Communication on the girls.
A moment later the twins blinked and a look of understanding came over their face before turning to me and nodding at me, silently telling me I could continue.
“Ahem, with the Otsutsuki’s imminent arrival, I thought it was about time for me to take care of the pests in Akatsuki. With their demise, I will finally be able to get an ability that would allow me to track the Otsutsuki Clan no matter where they are in this Universe.” I said referring to the fact that I couldn’t buy the Mapper perks until I completed the Nightfall mission that required me to either kill or capture all Akatsuki members.
“I see, so you’re taking the fight to them basically.” Mei muttered in understanding as she grabbed her chin in thought.
“Correct.” I nodded my head before turning to Izumi and Hikari now and looking at them seriously. “I also have something planned soon that will bring a lot of attention my way so it would be best if I was away from the village for a while.”
“You mean!?” Izumi asked in surprise immediately catching on to what I meant.
“Tsk, like I told you before, don’t expect me to be all buddy buddy with them.” Hikari said looking off to the side with an annoyed look on her face.
“Yes Izumi.” I confirmed with a nod of my head looking Izumi’s way before turning to Hikari. “Don’t worry Hikari, I wasn’t expecting you to. You live here anyway so I don’t expect you will interact much with them.”
“Good.” Hikari and Izumi muttered at the same time each with a different reason for doing so.
“Umm, mind explaining to the rest of us?” Karin asked looking really confused along with Mei and Pakura since Kushina was already in the know.
“I plan on reviving the Uchiha Clan sometime in the next few weeks.” I revealed with an easy smile as if I was talking about something simple.
“WHAAAT!?”
=====
(A Week Later)
My announcement had been met with many questions and worried glances as what I would be doing would paint a huge target on my back and everybody would soon be clamoring for me to revive their dead loved ones. That was not even mentioning what enemy shinobi might do if they caught wind of my ability to revive the dead.
By the time the other villages found out though, I would already be far away from the village in my hunt for Akatsuki forcing those that would be hunting for me to focus their attention on finding me instead of the village.
Besides, as soon as I returned from my trip, we would be leaving this shitty world for good so it’s not like we would be dealing with that problem for very long.
Of course, I would be on the lookout for any possible attacks on the village and would immediately intervene if that came to happen. I would show no mercy to anyone that dared to attack the place where my loved ones currently lived.
My trip would also give me the opportunity of doing something I’ve been meaning to do since I acquired the ability to travel through space and time but that would be saved for when Akatsuki was taken care of.
Other than my announcement nothing really exciting happened until the arrival of Tsunade and her being officially declared the Godaime (Fifth) Hokage with the whole village celebrating her return.
The blonde had asked my permission if she could stay at the Senju Compound and I had agreed so she and Shizune were now staying with us.
Today I found myself showing the teacher and apprentice where they would be staying with Karin accompanying me wanting to meet the famous Sannin.
“I like what you did to the place brat.” Tsunade complimented as we walked around the gardens outside.
“Thanks, but I don’t deserve all the credit. Izumi and Kushina deserve as much if not more credit. In fact, this garden here was grown by Kushina and Izumi is usually the one who takes care of most chores around the house.” I said waving my hand in dismissal.
“Hoh, and what do you do?” Tsunade asked with a raised eyebrow.
“He’s the chef. The best damn chef this world has ever seen~” Karin answered for me with a huge smile on her face and a little drool escaping her lips.
“Hmph, I highly doubt that.” Tsunade said in dismissal receiving a glare from Karin at her casual dismissal of my cooking prowess.
“Just wait until you try it and then we’ll see who’s talking.” Karin said crossing her arms with a frown on her face.
“Hoh, a little defensive of the brat, are we?” Tsunade teased with a smirk on her face causing Karin to blush slightly but not backing down from her look.
“So, what if I am?” Karin asked in return with a small glare. “Besides what would an old hag know about good cuisine?”
“Tsk. Do I look old to you brat?” Tsunade asked with a slightly twitching eyebrow but nonetheless showing off her figure bringing attention to her huge breasts.
And indeed, what a figure it was. Tsunade now looked in the prime of her life and her previously sagging breasts from before were nowhere to be seen making them look bigger now actually.
“That’s only because Akari made you young again with his power. Inside though, you’ll always be a hag.” Karin responded back without remorse with a smirk on her face enjoying the way Tsunade flinched at her words.
“Why you…”
“We’re here.” I interrupted stopping any argument from starting and bringing their attention to me as we had arrived at a private shed by the back.
“…R-right.” Tsunade suddenly froze for a moment and her demeanor did a 180 now looking very nervous and hopeful.
I didn’t blame her as I was finally going to do what I had promised her weeks back and revive her little brother.
Letting everyone into the room I locked it behind them before turning forward again and signaling everyone to stand back as I made my way to the center of the room.
“Alright, now please be quiet and let me concentrate.” I asked and not waiting for a response I slapped my hand on the ground summoning what would become Nawaki’s new body.
With the help of Ciel we had managed to recreate the White Zetsu thanks to the one I had absorbed a while back and with his connection to Hashirama, it should make a good vessel for the soul of Nawaki to inhabit. Heck, Nawaki probably would be able to use a degraded version of the Mokuton just like Yamato.
“What is that?” I heard Tsunade mutter in confusion no doubt looking at the strange humanoid.
“Nawaki’s new body now please no more questions.” I answered summoning some of Nawaki’s DNA and also setting it down into the floor.
Then backing up a bit I let my Rinnegan come alive with Toggle and clapped my hands together. “Kuchiyose: Edo Tensei (Summoning: Impure World Reincarnation).”
Like the times I had performed the technique before, thousands of small sheets of paper surrounded the white zetsu on the ground before taking the shape of a brown-haired teen that looked about 12 or 13 years old.
Seeing that I followed it up with another technique. “Gedo – Rinne Tensei no Jutsu (Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique).”
Ignoring the lost lifeforce that quickly replenished, I watched as the body of Nawaki slowly regained color before taking its first breath.
“W-wha? W-where am I?” Nawaki asked in confusion taking in his surroundings before spotting his sister. “Nee-san? Is that you? Why do you look older?”
“Y-yeah, it’s me.” Tsunade whispered with tears freely running down her cheeks as she slowly approached her little brother.
Then tentatively as if not believing if what she was seeing was real or not, Tsunade slowly pulled Nawaki into her bosom and finally lost her composure when she noticed the feel of his warm skin and the steady beat of his heartbeat.
“Waaaaaahhhh!”
“W-whoa! N-Nee-san! What’s wrong? Why are you crying all of a sudden?” Nawaki asked in a panic not knowing what to do but hug his sister.
“Come one everyone, we should give them some space.” I whispered to Karin and Shizune who only nodded silently at me and followed behind me as we left the shed.
“Thank you Akari. I don’t think you realize just how much what you just did means to Tsunade-sama.” Shizune turned towards me and thanked me with a bow, her own trail of tears falling down her cheeks and a big smile on her face.
“Don’t mention it. She’s one of us now.” I said with a shake of my head, only myself and Karin knowing how true those words meant.
‘All that’s left now is reviving the Uchiha before the hunt begins.’ I thought silently feeling relieved that I could now see the end of my journey here in the Elemental Nations.
‘Six years sure passed by in a flash. I’m just surprised that Kushina and Izumi didn’t make more of a fuss about me leaving for a while based on their reactions from the past. They probably felt somewhat relieved after learning just how strong I’ve become.’ I continued walking in a relaxed pace around the Compound with Karin and Shizune at my sides.
‘I wonder how long it would take Kabuto to do what I asked of him.’
=====
(Kabuto POV)
The past few weeks had radically changed the way Kabuto viewed the world and everyone in it.
Growing up as an orphan and then as a spy Kabuto had been faced with the brutal reality of the Shinobi World from a very young age. Knowing nothing but the harsh life of a shinobi, Kabuto’s only ray of hope was one day returning to the orphanage he grew up in and seeing his friends and Nono again.
Unfortunately, that never came to pass as Danzo betrayed him and Nono ant pit them against each other without their knowledge. Kabuto had ended up taking his savior’s life that day and he became disillusioned about everything but especially about his identity.
Who was Kabuto? Did he even deserve to keep using that name anymore if even his savior didn’t recognize him?
With nothing else to lose Kabuto had joined Orochimaru under the premise of making a new identity for himself using the knowledge of the world.
Things had been going good for him and Kabuto learned many secrets about the world under Orochimaru that he thought would help him in his goal.
Then one day Kabuto learned about the existence of a boy, well not really a boy, that would go on to change his whole life again.
Orochimaru was completely obsessed with the teen due to his unique bloodlines and from him he came to know about Akari Senju, the first person to have both Uchiha and Senju DNA running through his veins.
When Ocochimaru had tried recruiting him, he was surprised to learn that he had failed as Akari had proven to be a monster even at such young age. Not deterred though Orochimaru came up with another plan, he would use the body of Itachi’s brother and through him finally combat Akari.
After years of planning and scheming, Orochimaru was ready to act even managing to acquire the help of Suna and with the help of a wonderful jutsu known as the Edo Tensei everything was looking like he would succeed.
Then the day of the battle finally arrived.
Instead of a bloody battle between Konoha and the combined forces of Suna and Oto, the complete opposite happened. And to make it even worse it was all due to the same boy that Orochimaru had become obsessed with.
Akari had literally massacred almost their entire forces, killed the Kazekage and even managed to defeat his ancestors, the first and second Hokages.
Kabuto himself was confronted by the only female Uchiha, Izumi and got his ass handed to him in a battle that lasted no more than three minutes. During the battle he had discovered that the Uchiha girl had already awakened the Mangekyō which probably meant that the same was true for Akari.
Instead of being killed though, Izumi had applied some sort of seal on his arm with a strange marking and had imprisoned him.
After 72 hours without food or water had passed, he finally received a visitor.
It was none other than Akari Senju.
Catching a glimpse of him for the first time in such a close proximity, Kabuto couldn’t really see what Orochimaru saw in him just on looks alone.
A thought that he couldn’t help but think as the height of foolishness now.
Kabuto hadn’t even been given the chance to speak when Akari opened his mouth and uttered the last words he would hear before everything changed.
“Azathoth.”
With those last words his body and soul were consumed in an instant.
Instead of passing on to the Pure Land Kabuto found himself under an endless sea of stars where he met what he could only describe as a Goddess with blue hair and crimson eyes.
It was there that he learned.
That what he thought to be nothing more than a lucky kid born with the right genes was in fact a being beyond his and everyone’s comprehension. A being capable of devouring entire worlds and even the Universe in time, gaining the powers and special abilities of all those he consumed.
Kabuto learned the existence of other worlds, other Universes and the infinite worlds and timelines that the Goddess’s master could travel to on a whim.
Kabuto’s mind had almost shattered at the news, or maybe it did shatter and he just didn’t know due to the Goddess immediately healing him.
In the end Kabuto had asked the most obvious question that appeared in his mind.
Why tell him this?
The Goddess had informed him that in return for pledging himself to Akari, that he would be granted eternal life along with the opportunity to explore the vast cosmos.
A scientist at heart it didn’t take very long for Kabuto to agree and the rest was history as they say.
He was promptly provided with a new body and given an overall upgrade to his abilities even gaining the ability to use Sage mode.
For his first task, Kabuto was given a list of dead or famous shinobi that he had to go around the Elemental Nations collecting samples of their DNA so they could be brought back with the Edo Tensei.
Since his task coincided with Orochimaru’s for now, Kabuto was still working for him until such a time came that he no longer needed him. As wakened as Orochimaru was at the moment, he posed no threat for Kabuto as he was now so he wasn’t too worried about being found out.
‘Still though, what could Akari-sama possibly want with all these people for? Is he intending on devouring them and acquiring their power?’ Kabuto thought curiously as he observed the various scrolls holding the DNA of various shinobi that he had already managed to obtain.
“Kabuto…”
Interrupted from his thoughts, Kabuto turned towards Orochimaru as he slowly made his way towards him using the wall for support looking incredibly weakened and sweating profusely.
‘It seems his current body is at its limit. He will need to change bodies soon.’ Kabuto observed silently. “Yes, Orochimaru-sama?”
“Send for the Sound Four and Kimimaro, the time is ripe for young Sasuke-kun to join us.” Orochimaru commanded weakly with a smile on his face.
“As you wish.” Kabuto nodded his head in agreement and made his way out of his lab.
‘I wonder what your choice will be Sasuke? Especially knowing that Akari-sama killed your brother. Huhuhu will you reject joining Orochimaru and live? Or will you be foolish enough to join him and die a miserable death when you eventually point your fangs at him?’ Kabuto thought amusingly.
‘Ah, things are about to get interesting soon.’
