Comic #148: Plan B (Patreon)

Hey folks, I'm in the middle of an awful sinus infection, so I won't be doing a regular comic this week. Here's a throwback instead. Hopefully I will be all recovered and ready for next Sunday.

So I opened up the original comic file to see if I could find anything interesting, and was surprised to find a complete extra panel that I never used. This panel was originally placed just before the final panel:

 I can see why I got rid of it. It only serves to water down the punchline.

I feel like I missed an opportunity with the dolls in panel 1-4. I think if I were to make this comic now, I would have done something like this:

Miji: Ooh, can I be this cool mummy doll?

Narya: No, that actually represents Shade of Aran, he guards the outside of the castle. You are the murloc action figure.

Miji: Then who's the Shade of Aran doll?

Narya: That's just an extra.

Really I feel like I would do an entire comic just about them bickering about who gets to be what doll.

Also, the whole "I like pie" thing was kind of just a common non-sequitur phrase I used. I feel like it was a bit of a trope at the time? But I can't remember. I don't think I was specifically referencing anything, though I know that phrase has been used here and there in other media.

I only just noticed Keydar's tail in the final panel, but I feel like I missed an opportunity to make Miji and Narya have bald backs on their sheep.
