Comic #997: Reality Bites: Part Six (Patreon)

I wanted to make a rogue class fantasy joke for a while, and it ended up working out for this story arc.

This one was originally going to be seven panels rather than eight. I was initially going to extend the height of the page as I usually do to add two extra panels, but after splitting panels in #995, I decided to do the same thing here with the first four panels. It ended up working nicely with the rogues performing their four skills. The eighth panel ended up being the second to last panel. I realized I needed a beat in there for the rogues to react to what Narya was telling them.

The sound effects in the first four panels initially were no the name of the abilities, but after I had used "Pick" for both pickpocket and pick lock, I decided to write the whole name, which I felt was a funny little detail. After that I added "sneak" to the sneaking panel. It also works out to tell the reader what they are doing in case my drawings sucked.

I also last minute made a tiny edit to the 5th panel. I had to add a gap between Nyte's left arm and Miji's torso because the original image had none and it looked like it was Miji's arm instead of Nyte's. Here's how it looked originally.

It probably was fine, but it was driving me crazy and I had to fix it.
