Comic #196: Society Tor the Betterment of NPCs (Patreon)

Oops I forgot to post yesterday, sorry!

Again, you could say this comic is the beginning of the second NPC arc, but I still think at this time I had no idea I was about to start a long arc. I don't think I really intended to start an arc until #198.

Also, I'm pretty sure my use of ears here was a callback to #151. Years later I would make a similar comic about Keydar's crimes in #710.

I love the detail of Gretta's tabard. She has a whole breaker of chains thing going. I looked into the original comic file to get a nice close-up of the image, and to my surprise I found this on a hidden layer:

Looks like I was experimenting with different logos for Gretta's society. BREAK THE CHAINS!

It was fun bringing Gretta back. During the whole NPC rebellion arc, Horace really revealed himself as ultimately self-serving and power-hungry. So for this comic I knew I couldn't really use him, and I didn't want to invent a new character, so I went with Gretta instead. I liked the idea that she was much more strategic and pragmatic and less emotionally driven than Horace was.
