I wanted to have almost no dialogue on this one. When I restrict myself from creating easy exposition through dialogue I end up having to work harder creatively.

The downside is that I can't always be sure my readers will understand the premise.  One really extreme example would be if I had Keydar in the second panel say, "Hey! I'm clearing to that quest objective, you're stealing it!".  The premise would be very clear in this case, but I'm beating you over the head so much with exposition that it ruins the comic.

So in the end, I hope people get the joke. The joke being that people who click quest objectives while you are clearing them of mobs are monsters. When you make something and spend time on it, you lose all objectivity, so it may seem clear to you guys whether or not the joke is obvious, but I can never really tell when I finish.

That can make it fun for me to re-read my comics years later. After a few years I've totally forgotten the nuance and punchline of many of my comics, so I get to experience them somewhat objectively for the first time. Sometimes I find comics funnier than I envisioned, and other times I see them falling flat.

As someone who hasn't played WoW in a while, I understood the joke immediately.

In the last panel, I thought at first that the tentacle was going up Douché's nose, and I thought "Couldn't happen to a better person."

Wow...I had this happen to me the other day. It was an obelisk, too. I was ranting to my husband about it.

I just wanted to add, it made complete sense to me as is. And this has happened to me many many times before as well, so I also feel everyone else's pain with it. I have never and would never do that to another player. A lot of times, I'll help them clear the mobs so that they can get to it more quickly. The quicker they get it, the quicker it will respawn for me, I think.

I guess you balanced it well. It's very clear what's happening there. And since you're talking about exposition, let me tell you I like the choice you made by putting the name of the spell when Keydar Vanished. In your first comics, long ago (I started following your comics in BC), I was often confused when some character simply went "poof!", because I never played a Rogue (I don't like melee classes, the few I play are tanks). After a while (and some rereading) I understood what was happening, but with a strip like this I'd venture I would have not been so confused.

Bug report: the "joke. The" link is broken. (okay, I know it's not supposed to be a link, but the Patreon app is interpreting it as one)
