Comic #734: Beta Keydar (Patreon)

I have a couple callbacks in this one. The first is the other comic involving lua errors, #462. I made sure to include Keydar's old ponytail shaper addon from that comic. The other callback is pretty subtle, but if you compare the final panels of this comic and #549 you'll see it. In imagining the final panel for this week's comic, I remembered his expression from a comic nearly 4 years ago. I'm not sure what that says about me.

I originally was going to make a comic with Keydar complaining that he didn't get a beta invite, but every version I made I found to be unfunny. In some versions I was basically making a repeat of the joke in #631. I also had a version where the joke was that he was so excited to join the Beta, but once he was logged in he spent hours tweaking his UI. Ultimately I just couldn't get them to land right.

Edit: Oh! I forgot to mention the loading screen tip. Every time I see something funny in game, or in general if a game joke comes to me I write it down in my list of comic ideas. Whenever I have the opportunity to insert little jokes in a loading screen tip or background guild dialogue I look at this list. Usually there are a few ideas in there that are too niche or specific to be their own comic. The "person running in front of you when you try to destroy something" idea was one of these.
