Comic #789: Anger Problems (Patreon)

I have had this "taxi service error" idea in my idea queue for at least a year. I kept not being able to make it work. The original idea was to have one player running away from another who they pissed off, and getting this message at the flight master.

For some reason when I read the idea again this week it occurred to me that I could have an NPC bestowing this effect onto a player purposefully. In the end I considered just having a simple "You are in combat" error, but I liked this version better.

I tried to scour the search function on the comic archive, and unless I'm mistaken, I believe this is the first Gretta appearance since 2010 in comic #264, and the first Horace appearance since 2015 in #473. I find this surprising because I was pretty sure I used Horace more recently, but I couldn't find it for the life of me. I think I considered using him in the last panel of #769 and then decided not to.

I've had a lot of angry NPCs comics recently, and it's getting pretty close to #800, so bringing these two back right now isn't the worst idea. Maybe there's something there.
