Comic #804: Pet Battle (Patreon)

Gigz finally met her match. I originally going to have Gigz kill the pet, but it wasn't a particularly good punch line.

I couldn't remember the exact system dialogue messages, such as "Pet battle area is obstructed", so I had to log on and test it out. I figured out the text for the first three examples in the comic, and then by chance I tried to start a battle while in combat and got the final text in game. That gave me the idea for the final punchline.

Making sure the system dialogue was easily visible in every panel was a bit of a challenge. I had to alter some backgrounds to ensure the entire text appeared on one color. I also added a faded white background behind the text to help it stand out a bit better (especially in the 4th and 6th panels.

I also wanted to make sure the pet had multiple passive and cute cat poses throughout the comic, so that the punchline would hit a bit harder. Hence the paw licking and playing on it's back.
