I've always meant to finish this track and now I did. So here it is!

Completely finished and all shiny and new... just like me. 💀

Those of you that aren't aware, I released "Further on up the Road" as a short back in 2023, which feels like decades ago at this point, and folks really seemed to like the darker, minimal vibe so i leaned into that with the full track...for better or for worse.

We've got new artwork comin at ya for the single release and the whole thing should be going public next week. Thanks again for everything and ENJOY!

Geoff!!!! I don't know what it is with this song (your version)...it just hits a soft spot and moves me to tears...I thought I was past the point of having to cry over the short - boom - it hit me again. In a good way! It just touches me deeply. It feels like finally coming home after being lost for a long time. You're right, I really like the minimal vibe of both the music and the video, it makes you focus on your beautiful voice and wonderful way of singing and really underlines the emotion of the song. That was also a great use of those tubular bells, they're subtle, yet present, calling from further on up the road. ❤️ Geoff, I can't tell you enough how happy you make me with your beautiful music and how grateful I am!

I don't know the song but hey it never matters and to be honest its kind of nice not knowing sometimes. I will very soon get into the swing of it. Do-overs are a rare opportunity, but not always does it work. And I bet the reason it came together quickly is because your brain had a lot of time to noodle on it in the background, especially since you wanted to ever since the short. And it definitely shows in the arrangement. It stayed stark and dark, simple yet rich. The chords you use were well selected to convey the same feeling as the lyrics, matched by the expected vocal performance. It would have been easy to overcomplicate, nice that you kept it straightforward. Overall very well done, definitely one of your best.

Just noticed a continuity glitch- during the brief piano bridge in the middle, the keyboard closeups show a cellphone on the top of the piano, while in the full shots it's gone. No idea how noticeable it is to most people; I didn't clock it until my third time watching it through.

When you said Wayfaring Stranger was a good guess, I automatically thought it was going to be a Johnny Cash song (I know WS isn’t originally his). I really like the minimal vibe of the song and the video. I was glad you started it exactly the same way as your short version and just kept going. As much as I usually love your interesting, complex instrumentals, I’m really enjoying the simplicity this time. Even so, there are still some interesting sounds in the background. Your voice gives me chills throughout the whole song. Thank you! P.S.: I’m hoping you’ll finish Wayfaring Stranger in the not-too-distant future — and continue it in the same vibe as the short. I love it!! Your version is beautiful! Please note that it is Bruce Springsteen who did the original, not Johnny Cash (whom you hashtaged in your short and who's also done a cover). Bruce's version of this from "live in Dublin" is also amazing and very different from his studio version. I recommend to check it out!

I am always stunned by how you release songs that speak to me directly. Your voice is the exact purring, relaxing, beautiful tone I need right now. I've been in the hospital this past week with an arterial tear that's inoperable because of where it is, and surgery's too dangerous in my condition (cancer, doing chemo), so I have to slow down. Maintaining super low BPs because the pressure can make it tear further/burst. No more protests for me. No politics, nothing to rile me up. Just PEACE. These lyrics feel like it's saying you're going through a difficult time, a lonely time, yet it speaks with the certainty that you'll catch up with your companions further on up the road. And that is exactly where I am right now. Even got the "dead man's suit" on! And while their lives are kinda going on without me, when I get through this, I'm gonna catch up to them. You know your *Unshaken* has been my fight song as I deal with this cancer and the chemo. "May I stand unshaken amidst the crash of the world." I heard it at the beginning of this fight, and it's been a constant companion through it. This one is now too. I want you to know your music, the beauty you put out into the world, it's doing good for people in ways you may NEVER know. Keep doing it, YOU, your music, isn't just YOUR gift, it is a gift to us all, and we love you for it. I love you for it.
