I can only hope that one of my friends throws me into a fire one day, too.

Ah, yes... to finally be warm...

Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed this poem as much as I did.

I feel ya, I'm always cold ❄️. Thanks for this!

Margo Zimny

And then they would get to hear you "sizzle so"!

Georgina Blair

Thank you , I'll definitely listen to this later on.. at the pub at the moment

Gretchen G

"Finally be warm"? 🤨 What exactly do you consider cold? Is that even a thing in Florida? 😁 (I'm Minnesotan, btw. Friendly teasing of southerners who complain about the "cold" is practically a hobby up here.) ☺️💙 ☃️

Tine

Is... isn't living in.. Florida.. kind of the same thing though?🤔😥🔥 Beautiful visual! Another incredible narration. Never heard of this poem.. became a bit eary but ended so.. peacefully and beautiful.. Much appreciated!

Katie D

I didn't think Florida was particularly cold this time of year 🤣 Maybe consider a blanket instead? 😉

ariel

this just got dark, and warm. 😶

Carl Thomas

Wow. If Florida isn't enough for you you'll be living on the surface of the sun soon.

PJ

Geoff… you like in Florida…

Carol Franklin

I’m in London in late October & my heating’s packed up oh to be in Florida lol

Suzy Bailey

I hear you Carol, I'm in Peterborough and having a hard time finding an engineer to come out before end of Nov. 🙁 Florida sounds good right about now! 🙂

Jacklinka

The Buddhist people believe that proper cremation promotes you in the next incarnation. In this believe, Sam McGee will reborn in a nice warm place.

Alex Walker

Great reading, thank you, Geoff!! 😍

Cynthia Peterson

Never heard this before but I really like it. I love the twist at the end.

Amanda Hovendon

Do you have the air conditioner blasting at home or something? 😂

Amanda Hovendon

Here in New Jersey, there is no real happy medium where I live. I’m either really hot or I’m really cold. But what’s weird is, even when it’s cold outside, I still like to have my fan on when I’m sleeping 😂

Tiina Nyrhinen

OMG! This is the best thing yet! I love northern placed tales and stories, Jack London being my favorite author. This I haven't heard before. To hear Geoff narrate this kind of tale I'm beyond ecstatic. Sure, I'm from Finland and love winter, and funny enough, I own huskies 😁 Thank you Geoff ❣️

Dee Herrera

I’ve got the shivers from this. Great narration!

Krystle

I need the fan too! 3 blankets and the fan on high 😅😅

Liz Munro

Although it was a spooky and sad tale, Geoff’s narration of this had an uplifting tone and I thoroughly enjoyed the imagery it provoked

Rosie Boughen

For someone who lives in FL and talks about sweating so much, your caption doesn’t make much sense 😂 😉

Kaleigh Henderson

This is awesome, Geoff! This has been my favorite narration of yours since it went out to the Patrons, and I'm glad the rest of the world will get to enjoy it as well. One small nitpick - McGee is supposed to have a capitalized G in the middle of the word. Like McDonald's.

Randiskye

My thoughts exactly! First he complains about the heat and humidity, in the next breath he wants to be flambe'-ed.

Randiskye

You Floridians have very thin blood indeed!. My aunt (from NJ) now lives in Bradenton and if the temp dips below 68 she's digging out sweaters and sweatshirts; I'm up in Jersey in a sleeveless top and yoga shorts complaining I'm too warm when it's 57 degrees out! Lol Seriously though Geoff, a great reading, as expected. You really commit to creating the proper ambiance for each of your projects, and we love that!

Sarah Reach

It goes the other way too. I am a Texan and had a houseguest from Wisconsin. The poor guy nearly had a heatstroke on a cool and cloudy 80 degree (F) day in April. After we got him cooled off he never lived it down. Texans and Floridians don't like the cold, but we are well adjusted to handle the heat!

Suzy Bailey

First time hearing this tale, wonderfully read as always Geoff. I always find it surprising that your voice evokes chills and yet is soothing at the same time! 😲😌💕

Dan Black

YES! I'm so glad you recorded this one! It's the one I requested several months ago when you were asking for suggestions, but I think it was one of the polls and didn't get much support, so I thought the idea was deader than… well, Sam McGee, anyway. But, apparently, that's a good metaphor… because Sam McGee seemed to find a happy return to life! I was gone for the weekend so only got to hear it just now, but I'm really happy you decided to read this one. Your narration is every bit as awesome as I had imagined it would be. THANK YOU!!

Dan Black

Huh, you mentioned in the other post leading up to this that this was an "old" one, so I looked back -- and you did the audio back in May, but I missed it! I can't believe I missed that! The only thing I can figure out is that I actually have a big clump of emails from that week or two. I must've been completely swamped with other things and never made it back to dig through some of the other emails that came in. Usually I at least scan through them to look for important things that need responses, but I must've missed some of them entirely, because I absolutely would've remembered this one if I had seen it! Anyway, it made a very nice surprise, and it was great to (finally) hear it. Thanks again!

Laryn A. Tapp

I have a lot of trouble going to sleep but your voice is perfect for a relaxation recording....just an idea if you have nothing else to do!! I love the picture in that...it's given me ideas for a painting when I'm feeling brave....it's gorgeous! Thanks for doing this..I enjoyed it! Regards from Kentucky!

Arielle Siple

This was great, so haunting! Have you ever heard the poem The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes? It's pretty long but your voice would be amazing for such a sad, ghostly poem!
