Hey Ya'll - It's been quite a while since we updated the tiers and perks around here so I thought it was about time to freshen things up a bit. I've got a few ideas started but wanted to see if any of you had some thoughts on what you'd like to see added to or subtracted from the perks column. Drop a comment below or forever hold your peas!

After having watched the latest Charismatic Voice analysis, I, personally, would LOVE one of the tiers to include isolated vocal tracks. Things I currently LOVE in the tiers: BTS videos, KARAOKE TRACKS omg don't get me started on those, and of course full track mp3s. Things I currently wish to see in the tiers: That I could get into the highest one. 😜 Things I absolutely understand about the tiers: You only have so much time in the day, and that time should go toward creating your (and our!) favourite things: music and videos. I don't want to you to stretch yourself so thin that you start resenting all the obligations that come with the perks of Patreon.

I think BTS vids should be a tier perk given how much work you and Kathy put into them. Even if they're not something you want/are able to do for every video, they could be an "as available" type of thing.

My patreon dosent like me rn so im stuck on the lowest (sorry Geoff!) but as many other have said isolated vocals MP3s would be really cool and interesting. Otherwise i like it how it is! I really appreciate the work you put in, its really cool!

Agreed, a LOT of us heard that and had this same thought. Since you already asked into whether we would be interested in hearing the different mix versions back in August I believe, I was/am hoping that the isolated vocal tracks would be part of that. (If you haven't noticed, you seem to attract a lot of nerdy fans 🤓💗)

Not sure if this would be too much work to be a perk, or maybe just a random once in a blue moon type of thing, but you've brought up the idea of doing session walkthroughs (think it might have been on House of the Rising Sun or something like that). That'd be extremely cool.

What I would like to see (for my tier) is a karaoke version with the vocal lyrics on a screen (most all karaokes have the lyrics on a screen) for the "timing impaired" person. I would love to have the words to fall back on IF I forget where I am in the song. Many songs start out immediately so timing is of the essence to sound like you know the song. Wanted to sing 🎶 the Hide and Seek for this Halloween 🎃👻, but not sure where to start my vocals. 😳 I'm a beginner at singing karaoke 🎤. The extra help would, indeed, be VERY helpful.

Just a thought... On your webchats it is difficult to get a question answered if it wasn't posted early on. Perhaps an additional perk would be to have a section for questions to be answered first, and limit the questions to one per person.

I’m probably shooting myself and others in the foot but your highest tier is sold out and has been since about two days after you put it out. That usually means you sold it for too cheap. I’d like to see some more personal or connections tiers. For Christmas my wife is getting me Tim’s 1-on-1 (30-60min) I believe off his store. So maybe a store perk or a tier which actually lets us speak directly with you for a little bit. So you could keep what you have but add a few higher ones if you have the time to support it. I’d pay a good amount of money to hear you sing a song I love and I’d pay more if I could maybe sing a song with you or get some pointers. Just an idea! Hope everyone doesn’t hate me for this!

*drops all her peas* Okay, here we go.. I am super pleased with my current tier. The perks I enjoy the most and would love to keep are the personal messages, karaoke tracks, webchats, early releases (duh), and BTS when they do come out. (as well as the polls you put out. I like that you're asking for our input and feedback) I would like to go on record saying that I have been asking about getting the multitrack or isolated vocals before a certain reactor used it in her video ;) But those would be really cool to have. I think the suggestion of making the BTS when it is available also part of a certain tier is a good one, as it seems a coveted perk. Reading through some comments, I do LOVE the idea of a live walkthrough session of either the audio or the video from time to time, if you feel like you have the chance and willingness to do so. This would be just... outstanding, truly. That would be so fascinating, truly. Also pre recorded just offering some explanation etc, would be super dope. I echo everyone's thoughts that the last thing I want is for you to overexert or overextend yourselves on these. I am sure you have thought it all through, and the last 2 years have given you experience and knowledge which will no doubt help you in making smart changes. One burning question: I am wondering if you are changing the perks and the amounts that will be paid how that will work. As a certain tier is limited, will those that have it now, have the chance to reclaim that spot or will it be a free for all type situation, or how will that work? If it is a free for all, I would like to know when so that I can be ready for it, if possible. (though obviously I would prefer to remain in the top tier level and not having it be free for all when it opens up) I would also like raw, unedited vocal tracks, but I 100% understand your hesitance and reluctance to share. (I am taking a course in music production, this is why I think it would be interesting for me personally) thank you, Geoff! :)

I would love to be able to join your top tier if there was space. Since that creates more work, I know it is unlikely 😉 I really enjoy the current tiers but I do agree that it would be a good idea to make the BTS part of a certain tier (when they happen to be made). I don't think you should reduce the cost of any of the current tier's you have - you should definitely not under value yourself or your time. I love the idea of isolated vocals at a specific tier.

I am enjoying my tiers and perks, my only problem is the timing for the live chat. For you it might be 9 - 10am but here in Australia it is 1 - 2am. Could you try to make it a different time for us international people please.

How about a draw for higher tiers to win a 10 minute private online chat with you? Once a month, two months, whatever. I'm sure people would love a chance to put their questions & suggestions to you personally. Just don't make it for my level - I hate even using the phone, let alone virtual face-to-face! I'm pretty happy with the perks I get at my tier. I'm not particularly musical, and those who are have already put forward great suggestions for the musically inclined.

Honestly, I'm mostly just (rather selfishly) hoping that you keep the tiers pretty affordable. That way I can get the perks I want AND afford to go buy your merch. 😁 I think most of us would be pretty excited about anything involving some kind of one-on-one interaction with you, but since your time is such a limited (and valuable!) commodity, I expect we will just have to continue to be jealous of those lucky ducks who snagged a spot in the $45 tier. And please don't overdo it! We want you happy and not feeling overwhelmed with work. 🙂

One of the best things I enjoyed as a VoicePlay patron, was the signed pics from the video thumbnail. I just thought was a very nice memento, so I just purchased the Ghost Riders pic. Still, I sign up as a Patron to support your work. I…actually feel guilty about the personalized greetings. I love it, but I feel it takes a valuable chunk of your time. I may be the only one, but as someone in your top tier, I’m thinking maybe you could cut the frequency down so we aren’t taking so much of your time. Maybe make it quarterly or biannual or such? Less time cost to maintain that tier would mean a few more people could buy in. And I second the id of a “membership card”. Or lanyard or something. Things that can’t be bought on the general merch store are always awesome. Lastly, I think it’s about time you set a nice lofty goal, either in patreon memberships or video views or such. And when that goal is hit…challenge coins. 😁

But it's the music, the passion for it, the artistry, and the sheer blinding amount of talent that I/we admire most. My favorite perks, in preference order: supporting your making of more music, mp3 track, karaoke mp3 track, BTS, live chats with question submissions, and sure name in the credits is kinda fun, too. Would I like the higher tier perks, sure, just can't afford 'em... yet... give me time ;) What else could you add? The isolated vocals like everybody else already said (because it helps us music nerds figure out what you're doing and isn't much more work for you). Signed prints would also be cool, but that sounds like a pain keeping up with folks changing addresses and what-not so probably lots of time involved with that!

Fans love interacting with their favorite artist. I've had the privilege of personally interacting with Molly Hatchet and Irene Cara! It was exciting and memorable. Well, and Def Leppard but not memorable in a positive light. Artists may not realize that it takes only one hurtful experience to turn a fan away. There are a million artists to choose from. There's only one you, though, and you seem really kindhearted ❤️ I hope that never changes. Feeling appreciated means more than some may realize. 🌞🌞🌞🌞

In the last two years you have *really* spoiled us. I know that me and my budget are going to regret saying this, but I think that you have been underselling yourself with the low price of your tiers. I know that a lot of people are at the highest level that they can afford and really don't want to lose perks, but there are so many amazing perks that aren't even officially at a level, like the BTS - that most others put behind a more premium paywall. I also have comparison shopped and noticed that most musician campaigns start at $3-$6, and don't have $1 tiers at all. Of course there is a balancing act here that only you will know how to navigate, but I just want to state that I will not be surprised if the price of some of the tiers get higher. This campaign has taken more of your time than you ever expected, and you consistently seek to add even more value and perks, trying new things and making awesome tweaks. That "and other bits and bobbles as I come up with them" line from the $1 tier is pulling a LOT of weight. If you choose to keep doing this, you need to get paid fairly for it. I wholeheartedly approve of you giving yourself a raise. As for the wishlist, most of mine echos what I have seen requested already (Isolated vocal tracks, Session walkthroughs, maybe a taste of the personal messages once per year like the $50 Voiceplay tier can request) I also love the Patreon Premiere and am excited to see that continue, and I am also intrigued by the mixing steps that you mentioned in August (anything that we can pull apart and analyze to understand your music on a deeper level is always welcome) One last thing I would like to see: I really don't know how you would do it, but I would like to have some sort of chat room like Discord attached to your Patreon Campaign. I know that Discord is a time suck that you don't have the time or inclination to use, and most of us are on a fan run Discord channel that works well enough. The only issue is, we can only determine who is a Patron through the Voiceplay Discord. Those who show up in that channel and start discussing spoilers for this campaign we will redirect. But that automatically leaves out any of your patrons that aren't interested/cant afford Voiceplay patronage but might otherwise be interested in getting to know the community members in our own online space. Just thought you should know that this gap in the community exists.

Ultimately, speaking for myself, I don't support you specifically for the "stuff" but because I really enjoy what you put out and want to support things that I like and believe in.

I am only on the lowly 'Extra More' tier and absolutely love the BTS's, karaoke tracks and webchat replays. My only real wish would be not to lose those to an unaffordable (for me) higher tier. Though having heard the isolated voice track on the Charismatic Voice, that would be awesome! Really, I'm just glad to be helping you in my own small way, to keep creating beautiful music and entertaining videos! 😊💜

I'm also on the "Extra More" tier and am very happy with it. I really love getting the mp3s of the song and karaoke track and enjoy being able to listen to the webchat replays. There's nothing additional that I would really love to see, as some people above have said I just hope it stays relatively affordable. When thinking about supporting other artists I often hit a barrier of there being not so many lower tiers and the fact that seeing content before the broader public does is not a huge draw for me: I like the excitement of seeing stuff early, but I'm also pretty content to wait until it's released for everyone.

I'm very bad at answering "what do you want" without having a sense of what's doable first, so I'm gonna go with pointing out something that's just always been unclear to me and may need tweaking instead. I'm not sure what "suggest songs for me to record, books or poetry to turn into narrations" is doing under the Extra More tier? I've been here since December and there's never seemed to me to be anything cut and dry about who/when/where as far as suggesting things given folks don't even need to be in the Patreon to be heard on that. This is not a big deal, just a "hm." I've been really happy with the perks I get.

This is definitely a luxury budget item for me, but I’ve been very happy with the benefits. I’ve enjoyed the webcasts and behind the scenes perks. Isolated vocals were not something I knew I wanted until hearing them on The Charismatic Voice; that was beautiful. If adding those in somewhere wouldn’t be a burden that would be cool. I’m sure this has blown up beyond expectations, so whatever you need to make it work for you I’m sure you will have no shortage of support. Like I said, I’m happy with what my donation earns.

That's a really good point! You asked what perks we would like to see added OR subtracted. My impulse is to never want to see things taken away, but this perk is a bit too vague to be useful I think. As far as adding things (or rather, where to add things) I definitely think your weakest tier is the $20. The only extra perk at that level vs the level below is name in credits, and most months I don't have a particularly strong desire for that little extra, and so I didn't go up to that tier until this last month. While you are rejiggering things, I hope you can sweeten that highest open level with something.

Seems im opposite of many. I have the musical skills and ear of a doorknob, so isolated vocal tracks are not really a bonus for me. However I do love Elizabeth. In fact I have been a YouTube and Patreon subscriber of her since her very very early days, and she is she is actually how I discovered you and VP!!!!. Im thoroughly enjoying my current level, although i'd upgrade to the OneMore if it were open. Why? Only because I have the ability to support you above my current level, and am interested in doing so. No Bonuses needed. Even with my limited musical skills, i am whole heartily in favor supporting talented musicians. Also IMO a lower tier that provides a small annual personalized bonus such as an autographed pic would likely be much appreciated by many.

I, am on SSI and it doesn't go far, because of that I do NOT chase "perks" I'm a Home Fry and because of them I found You / VoicePlay / PTX / Avi Kaplan and a whole community of Outstanding Artist's as well as Top Drawer Human Beings. You do what you need to do for your business I'm not going anywhere as Long as I can decide to custom donate what I can afford and when I can afford it. I will always be Happy to support you . I consider it a perk to just watch you continue being Awesome / Growing your talent/ and being Happy. HUGS to you and Your Family (all of them even the ones You haven't met yet) Thanks for being so generous and including your fan base in the choices you make. The things I can think of that I or others might want is a tier for "top billing" on the patreon scroll since it is so gloriously long now. You mentioned sheet music was a pain to do, but I know some people are really into it. Maybe there is a level that works make it worth it?

As one of your employers (as you called us when William briefly joined a chat) you’ve definitely earned a raise! The level of sophistication and skill in your arrangements and video production has increased in jaw-dropping fashion, especially the last four videos. It was already good when you and VP started on YouTube ten years ago. Even if helpers like beard wranglers, camera operators, and choreographers give you a buddy rate, I’m guessing production costs escalate quickly. One thing I appreciate about having $1/month entry level tier is how much content is still available, such as the BTS. For that sum, you get a legion (well, at least a thousand at this point) of devoted fans who work as your PR staff, sharing on social media and liking and commenting on videos all over YT to help with the algorithms. (That’s how I found you – a friend’s post on Facebook.) Other artists I’d like to also support have a much higher buy-in. My entertainment budget only stretches so far. The only perk I didn’t know I wanted is the isolated track. You really opened the floodgate sending that to Elizabeth! She’s already one of my favorite reactors, but adding that element to her analysis was just ::chef’s kiss:: For the sake of your sanity and work/life balance, I’d suggest any perk you add be something for which you’re already putting in most of the time and work it requires during the usual process of making a video. Like sharing isolated tracks. A polished version is fine. Although bloopers are fun…

Sooo… CharismaticVoice somehow got access to like raw files (?) of your lines, and I loved the old VoicePlay Part-Work perks where we could hear how each harmony part was separated out. Is there a part of the creative process that you could post along these lines (something that you already have made that doesn’t require a ton of extra editing work)? (Ugh, I know what I mean but I can’t explain properly, sorry.) Also, more blooper reels 🤪 Edit: Oh! Read Shirley B Karr’s comment! She’s on my wavelength! Hahaha!

I love the BTS and chats/chat replays. I don't need any acknowledgement for supporting you in video credits or, being my socially awkward self, personalized messages, I'm perfectly happy blissing out on whatever you put out. merch is cool but given the extra fees for shipping to Europe makes it a tad too expensive to enjoy since here they ask for a fee for charging you a fee so yeah, ick. I loved what you did for GRITS last patreon premiere so if that's something that could become a regular part of an affordable tier, I'm in. isolated voice tracks would be a nice perk that don't seem to require much of an additional effort and time so those would be neat, too. retroactively. I need me some of those for Shenandoah, ahem. my aforementioned social awkwardness doesn't help you much for YT algorithm since I don't comment much but I like everything so there's at least that tiny bit for an algorithm bump 😊 if anything or none of this gets added, I'm perfectly happy supporting you in any way I can.

I'm on the lowest tier because I'm on a very low income and I really appreciate you having the BTS available at this level. I could maybe stretch my budget a little bit more but I'm also a VP Patron. Once or twice a year I treat myself to your £4 tier to hear all your lovely karaoke versions and download the full tracks, though I do feel a bit guilty about not being able to support you at this level all year round.

I’d prefer if you were to keep the BTS on the lower tier. Later down the line when much more join you on patron I could understand it but I don’t think it’s necessary to remove bts for the $1 a month payment. Now something that I think would be cool is if you made it to where some of your chats would be public to the lower tier every once in awhile. Not sure how or if that’s exactly possible but I think it’d be an interesting change to have every few months. It also just helps keep it affordable for everyone that wants to be in the chat or just has genuine questions.

One or two more potential perks that I might like to bring up, If you have stuff from your videos to declutter, an occasional auction like you have done for Voiceplay and PCP would be quite fun. I am sure that anything you have laying around we will be happy to take off your hands, for charity. 😁 And speaking of Kathy (since Auction prep is mostly Kathy's work I believe,) I want to state that your work in all of this is seen and appreciated. We love you and enjoy getting to know you in the AKA chats and BTS videos. Someone mentioned making Kathy chats an occasional perk and I would like to upvote that as well if you are interested/ not too busy for that commitment.

Not sure it'd be much help but it'd be nice to have a tier between the lowest and the next (they're $1.50 and $7.50 for me). With exchange rates, patreon can get hideously expensive if I'm not careful but I'd love to give you a bit more each month! You deserve the world, sir, for the joy you give us with all your content. If you wanted to put more of what's currently being offered behind a higher paywall, I wouldn't begrudge you at all. You put a hell of a lotta work into this! In a perfect world, I'd love to see more BTS for arranging and recording the music itself. I adore the shooting BTS and it's so neat to get a glimpse at the music side too!

I love the idea of a Kathy chat. I think it would be great to get her perspective of how everything is put together: scheduling, logistics, costumes, etc.

I do not do karaoke, but this is a great idea. I listen to the karaoke track so that I can pay more attention to the vocals in the background because I’m not musically trained and I don’t pick up on those things. But it would help to have some sort of clue as to where we are in the song. Sometimes I have to go back-and-forth about 20 times to figure out where that really cool chord was.

I have noticed through comments that many of us are in the Social Security income range. I would never have gone to a Patreon page for a lot of artists I right now support if it weren’t for the one dollar tier. That’s where I started with VoicePlay and that’s where I started with Geoff and others. I really didn’t know what I was going to enjoy and whether it would be worth the money that I do have. I agree that in comparison with other people he is less expensive. But I don’t sponsor the ones that don’t have lower tiers. I can’t afford it. It may not be that he’s under selling. It may be the others are over selling. There are a lot that I would like to help out with my little paltry one dollar but they start at five. I only have X amount of dollars and would rather sponsor five artists in a small way than one. That’s just my point of view. But especially in these times a lot of us are really strapped financially. I did go up on both my VoicePlay and on Geoff’s personal channel, mostly because of the BTS. If those go up I will probably drop back down because that is why I went up and it’s a struggle for me financially.

It certainly is a balancing act that Geoff has ahead of him to make sure that he is getting paid what he deserves, while still maintaining accessibility. I completely understand where you and others are coming from, it has only been recently in my life that I have had any room in my income for luxuries like Patreon, and there are definitely circumstances in my future where I may need to lower support as expenses go up. I hope that Geoff is able to maintain a solid entry level tier and it seems that he probably will, as Voiceplay also still starts at $1 and was readjusted this time last year. I also don't think the lowest tier is the only place that is undervalued, I just picked on the BTS perk because it is the most obvious. The biggest undervaluing is, as someone else mentioned, the $45 dollar tier. The fact that I am paying more than that for a Voiceplay tier that does NOT include monthly personalization, than one that requires so much of Geoff's time, is a definite sign that he could be getting significantly more for that work. (I am loathe to point this out, as I am also checking regularly hoping to break into that tier, but I would rather be priced out of a high tier than for Geoff to overextend himself and burn out)
