Well, I thought I knew what which thumbnail y'all were gonna choose for SOS, and I was absolutely wrong. Like really really really wrong. I can't wait to be smacked upside the head again with a dose of "I'm not as smart as a think I am".

Get to smackin.

Do NOT tempt me, Geoff... 🤣🤣🤣

Åse M Bruun Lagnestål

I’ll go with the close one, cause it made my heart skip a beat. 🥰❤️

Angie Woollard

A closeup, definitely. It was a toss-up after that - I really liked the close, but I think you holding a guitar might tweak curiosity a bit more. Went with #2.

Eileen Parkman

I like the composition of both Close and Medium - both speak to the title of the song and the theme of the video better than the Quartet. I prefer how the closeup looks as a tiny phone thumbnail.

Angie Woollard

Tweak curiosity? No, no, Ang…that’s not how you say that. Pique. PIQUE curiosity. It’s been a long day. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Carol Franklin

I like the medium because I think it’s more intriguing but the close up’s good in thumbnail size too.

Randiskye

Thank you! I hear this too often.

Gretchen G

I actually like medium better, but chose close because the text is easier to read and people will be able to recognize you more easily at a glance.

Novi Hallberg

I go for the medium one, with the closeup as second. On all three i wish the shadow on the letters were a bit darker for more contrast against the background, to make it easier to read. I like the font. 👍 As always, there are only good options so i'm just beeing picky 😅🤗

Grace Files

I like the close, but I chose the medium because I like that the best. I feel like it fits the video the best and it just feels artistic.

Sarah Reach

Deeply torn between Close and Medium. I really love being able to see your face, but I also love your posture in the medium and prefer seeing the whole guitar. I think the Medium shot gets my vote. The quartet is fine, but it doesn't convey the emotion of the song as well.

Patricia Schuman

I love both the close and medium shot, ended up voting for the close on the basis that, especially in a small thumbnail view: 1) It's more recognizably you and 2) Being able to see your eyes makes it slightly more expressive. But, it was a really hard decision to make, and I certainly won't be displeased if you go with the medium shot

Kimmy

I love all 3 but I vote medium definitely

Amanda Paige

it’s a toss up between medium and quartet for me.. but, i must say, the more Geoffs the better. therefore, my vote obviously went to quartet. and country geoff is *swoon- insert chef’s kiss here *

Lexy Wolfe (aka Pam)

If the close shot was the head position that the medium shot has, I'd choose that one. The quartet, title, and background blend too much for the thumbnail. The close shot has too much light color behind the title, imho. (Maybe put a thin outline around the letters to give that eensy bit of contrast. White on yellow and white on pale blue/green whatever (I have faint color blindness, screws with my interpretation of blue vs green) loses a bit of the title in the thumbnail.

Shirley B Karr

All the Geoffs are usually a good idea, but this song is better represented by close or medium. It's almost a coin toss: close will be easier to see in thumbnails on phones; you appearing to play guitar will pique interest in those who have a passing familiarity with you as a vocalist and occasional piano player. I'm voting for the pic where we can see your eyes. Love the battered font matching the battered hat. And I'm going to bask in the delusion that the choice of 2/3 of the thumbs is a result of my comment on the finished video that I hoped the thumb was of you sitting on the rail strumming guitar, and not just because that image is a logical choice for this song.

Jason Cranford

I think med for sure. The quartet reminds me of country roads take me home. As great of a cover that was, you don't want them confused. The med seems more intimate with how your sitting and positioned.

Ilona Dever

I went with Close because, well, it's you. But if you could get the baby's breath into the Medium, I'd go with that.

Mary Benno

The close one has a weird head position. The quartet looks too much like Country Roads. The medium is my fav!

Tara Congo

As always, went with my immediate gut feel on a first glance at all three and chose the one that made me say "yes!" to myself. Medium it is. Love the font!

Mikki Fullerton

Oh that was a tough choice between Close and Medium. Close shows the eyes which are so important for an emotional connection. But Medium shows the guitar far better, which is an intriguing element that does make me want to click it more. I decided to click Close, but I've got no disappointment that Medium seems to be winning right now. The Quartets are fun and I love seeing them in the videos, but when they're on a tiny thumbnail they just aren't as compelling to me.

Jacky Friedman

I agree with most. Number 2 medium. Love everything about it.

Alyssa Daniels

The medium shot has the best composition overall, I think.

Debs Badger

That's how I usually pick as well! 🙂

Beth Walsh

Not a hard decision for me....medium all the way.

Rebecca Hendricks

Of course, I'm in the minority. I just love the way the colors POP with the quartet!

Barbara Binney

Tough choice between Close & Medium. (Sorry, Quartet.). I ultimately went with close because it shows more of your face so I think it will connect better with people.

Hunter

There, I lightly tapped you on the head. I don’t wanna face Kathy’s wrath.

Paulene Thorne

Medium. It just seems to fit best with the song.

Amy Petty

Okay, so I liked both the Close one and the Quartet. The Close one is my favorite/first choice, but the Quartet isn't far behind it. I DON'T like the medium one at all because of the way it obscures your eyes and dampens the emotional intensity. The Close option conveys the emotional impact of the song far better than either of the other two options. I tend to agree with another commenter above that the elements of the Medium shot make for a somewhat better visual composition, but it fails to deliver the same emotional impact as the Close option, and to me that's the most important quality here. On a more pragmatic level, I also think that the Close option would be more readily identifiable for people searching Youtube on small screens. Gotta consider which elements pop best as tiny thumbnails!

Pat R

Love them all but Medium really hit me in the feels.

Maria Stoycheva

Medium. It shows off the more "unique" part of the video without revealing too much (such as your face expression), so it still preserves the mystery.

Ashley Evers

Oooh, that’s a hard one. Normally I think the closer to the face the better, but I’m actually leaning toward the guitar being more visible when I look at it small. Also, either might be better with you slightly more to the right, to so you're separated from the words more.

Suzy Bailey

Love the the vibe of the medium shot and I really want to pick that one, but... being able to see your eyes and your expression in the close shot seems better suited to the title. Nope, going with my first instinct, the medium shot!

Debs Badger

Medium just screamed THIS ONE at me at first look at all three, so there ya go.

Cynthia Ross

I think the medium is a bit misleading with as much focus on the guitar as is on you. As a guitarist, (and assuming I didn’t know you), I would expect to hear a guitar prominently featured and would probably check it out looking for some smokin’ guitar licks. I’m good with either of the other two, TBH. So, which did you think we’d go for? No fun smacking you around if we don’t know we are doing it. 😁

Ashley Evers

Do you have a shot where your face is tilted up AND we can see the whole guitar? Cause that would be the best combo 😁

SunnyOutlook

As always, you give us such hard choices to make. As much as I love the quartet, I prefer the medium. I love the composition of seeing more of you with the guitar. It would be even better if there was the same kind of shot where we could see your eyes like the close shot of you. The close shot is a close second for me. Whatever you choose, we know it's going to be great!! Looking forward to the public premier.

Virginia Small

The first two look a bit "John Denver" but I like the medium one anyway. The first one looks like you are squinting. The quartet is okay, but nothing like the Ghost Rider one.

Tine

I do prefer medium or quartet myself.. I personally think in version 2 that 1min41 or 2min27 would make stunning shots /thumbnails as well should you be willing to consider other shots. Or at the end you walking over the tracks is stunning too..

Dana

i voted for the middle option. ♥

Sarah Borzelli

I voted for the middle, people like guitars and people like Geoffs...now I'm curious on your thoughts

Mia

I vote quartet. It is reminiscent of Country Road, which was successful. Also, Train Track Geoff deserves to be a surprise. And four Geoffs leaning against a gate is more than pretty enough to grab anyone's attention.

Judith Kern

I voted for medium, it spoke to me the most. All of them are stunning but it's the middle option.

Karin Wolf

Medium is it. Best of two worlds... I agree with Sarah!

Judy Wilde

I think the quartet is definitely a non-starter. Too many people would see it, think I’ve heard that one already and keep scrolling.

Veronica Thunander

I never even saw a poll for SoS, guess it was for the higher tiers. Like so many others, I like the close one because we can see your eyes, but I still like the med the most. Love the posture, seeing the guitar and the environment. it’s beautiful!

Dani

Yes for the medium one. It's different and beautiful and captures the feeling of the song very well. And you are a hat and guitar person. Suits you both. Now this (all of the comments) is more of a lovely head stroke at most. Not to ruin that Castegorgeous hair of yours.

Veronika Troll

The medium one is really good but I don't like that the text is on top of his hands:)
