September's Wake-up

Love and solidarity with you guys as you have to deal with a city being sieged by fascist jackboots.

Bryan Sellner

Much respect guys!!! Have been keeping you all in my thoughts during these tragic events. Was curious to hear insight from you all as well. Thanks for everything you do.

Jeremy D

Love how MinnMax doesn't shy away from topics like these. Fully support this message and echo everyone's sentiments. Thinking of y'all from Vancouver. Stay strong and stay safe!

Greg

Lot of love to all of you! Stay strong

so much love (at the parasocial limit!) to you all. i lived in minnesota for six years, and even though I left in 2013 I think about moments of community all the time. the amazing bustling public libraries. people helping each other in snow drifts (except ICE agents - then you laugh!!) a place that, to me, is an indelible vision of what it means when you take care of each other. as someone who also went through a community tragedy this winter, I'll add (more for later) please remember that you're going through an intense hypervigilant-triggering stretch, and on the other end, you may experience an energy crash. easing back from content or doing soothing low-stakes things later on could be really useful. and i'm sure this community will be more than happy to see you take that time. take care. fuck ice.

Haley

absolutely atrocious situation but 'glad' to see it being discussed here. there's a lot going on, a lot of stress, so i don't want to create expectation, but if there was another chance to rally together in support of the immigrant law center i would be there in a heartbeat (individually donating regardless) much (non parasocial) love and stay safe

Matthew Roy

Thanks so much for posting this. Canadian here feeling extremely angry and confused about everything happening down south. I cannot fathom how any citizen is fine with the government's secret police thugs openly murdering other citizens. Fuck fascists. Stay strong and stay safe, Minnmax.

Maverick Weber

Thank you for talking about it. I get wanting to provide a safe haven of comfort in content but this moment feels different. It's part of everyday life right now.

Olivia

Sending love from Aotearoa New Zealand, stay safe, stay strong, and 100% keep recording - we see you here on the otherside of the world 💚

Chris Davies

Glad you chose to tackle this topic. I get there will always be the “keep politics out of games talk” crowd but it’s a fucking wild time right now and it would be disingenuous to ignore or breeze past it. This isn’t normal and so we shouldn’t normalise it

Simon Kirwin

Genuinely sad to hear this as a Canadian. Know that we are very aware of what's going on down there and we are not okay with it.

Alexander Carrillo

Ya’ll speaking on this solidified my subscription.

Tommy D

As someone far away, thinking about this every day the last week. Thank you for telling your story and having this chat. Stay safe.

Tyler Courtney

Maybe my favorite content you’ve ever put out, love Minnmax and hope everyone is safe.

Rayme C Vinson

You all are solid folks, thanks for talking about this.

I know i will get hate for this but just to be clear the Federal ICE agents do not need a warrant to detain or arrest someone that is illegally in the US since its inception around the 1950s. I also do not defend a senseless shooting that didnt need to happen, they should not have been trying to interfere with ICE which when done so does give them the right to detain. She should not have got shot but both can be true. We also need to be adults and remember this is very real and a lot of people dont understand when you put yourself in those situations you are taking a risk not just risking yourself but risking your child or loved ones growing up without you. The temperature needs to come down on everyones end and realize the agents are americans too and if it was your family member that was in the agency and people are boxing them in with vehicles and throwing things at them and following them to harass them they dont know peoples intent in the moment. You would hope they are able to defend themselves in a bad situation. It also just isnt happening in blue states its all over maybe just more in certain areas. Also Trump ran on deporting illegal immigrants and starting with violent ones and if a non violent illegal was found out during process they would also be detained. I just everyone could see both sides which i see bad communication on the administration and a confusing process

Thanks for talking about this. Sorry you all are going for this. Community building, like you mentioned in the podcast, is our biggest asset now, I think.

Living in Chicago, it's wild to see how much worse it seems in Minneapolis for how bad it was here. It's like they got mad Chicago stood up and made it worse for all of you. I'm so sorry y'all have to deal with this, and to all of the immigrants out there. Good on ya for supporting the charities you do too, please keep it up! One note though Ben, censoring this episode? Really? It's way too serious for that, Jacob Frey has set the proper tone! Come on! ❤️

Corey Haughey

From someone fairly conservative and religious, this is pretty heinous stuff. Hope to see it end soon, stay safe.

Bigmac

Love you guys, thanks for making this.

Eric Reitz

As others have already said, thanks for recording this. It feels insane to live in America these days, and hearing others say it makes it feel just a little less isolating. Still absolutely terrifying though.

Fro

Listening in WA state. Thank you for this. I wasn’t sure I wanted to listen since it has been all over everything. I am really glad I did. It definitely helps feel less alone.

Fernando Ramirez

I'm a Mexican-American from Portland, OR. Ever since that orange buffoon came into power life has become harder and harder. Now me and my family members (all US citizens) need to worry every time we go out about getting detained or shot by these ICE lowlifes just because of the color of our skin. Thanks for speaking up on this. The amount of people who are apathetic to the abuses of the Trump administration is absolutely insane.

Tikwid

Major love from your fellow midwesterners in KC. We love y'all and we love Minnesota 💛

Prism

Thank you so much for sharing your insight. We're all with you.

naoh.yup

❤️ My friends and I will be out on the streets in Michigan standing in solidarity with you all.

Eric Trapp

So much respect to y’all for speaking up about this and making it as public as possible. Love and solidarity from Chicago. We gotta stand together.

Chelsey

Incredibly great listen. Appreciate the catharsis

Mike Sweet

Thanks for doing this. I got 20 minutes in before I was too stressed to keep listening. Hearing first hand accounts is terrifying and while I'm a white male in the northeast with relatively "nothing to worry about", hearing Ben talk about his experience with his son and daycare hits home as I have a daughter I would have to explain this all to if I was in Minnesota too. God, I hope this all ends soon.

wawa

Thank you for talking about this and making it public.

RedBeast

Thank you for choosing not to avoid this topic when it would quite easy to do so

OrlandoGoldblum

Love that you all talked about this. Love from Atlanta

Mjiggy

Jeffem does not mince words 🫡

DarthBane79

I was thinking about you guys and wondering your opinion to the current situation. I did not expect you guys to actually talk about it and I am so glad you did!!

Mr Haddaway

This situation is exactly what the second amendment is talking about when it mentions protection from a tyrannical government. You guys could never have had me on this podcast, you guys aren’t as radical as it’s going to take to overcome this. 7 Democrats joined republicans in tripling ICEs funding. We cannot vote our way out of this.

Ed

Thank you all so much for covering this and giving a sense of what it's like on the street. I just wanted to share some words from 1000xResist, a game I love dearly, and that I only discovered through MinnMax, about the meaning of resistance and protest: "So if we stayed silent? didnt stand up for ourselves? They would say...this is how it always was. They would say...this is what the people wanted. But no. They can't say that. Because it has gone down in history... That we resisted fiercely. That we fought for a different future..." Solidarity from SF, which has narrowly missed the ICE surge so far.
