Celebrating 30 years of high-speed anti-gravity racing and combat with our Wipeout series podcast. Leon, Darren, Karl and Ryan - along with the usual, excellent contributions from the Cane and Rinse community - slipstream back in time to the space year 1995, and follow the neon trace and pumping beats of Psygnosis/Sony's stylishly futuristic vision of motorsport, from the PS1 original, to its many follow-ups through to its seeming swansong with the PS4 Omega Collection in 2018.Music featured in this issue:1. Great show! I was waiting to see if you mentioned Wipeout Merge! (You did). I remember being quite excited a mobile game in the Wipeout series was coming out and then the disappointment upon realising it was some microtransactioned to hell, card collecting, merging nonsense. God, it was absolute garbage.

GREAT SHOW!! I've had friends that like Wipeout, but I have never been able to talk or bond with anyone that adores the series as much as I do. Listening to the panel discuss the ambiance, the music, the rush of it all, and yes as Karl said, the "FEEL OF THE TRACKS" I felt like I had finally found my people. I got goosebumps, I nodded enthusiastically, and agreed (out loud to myself in my car) with everything you guys said about what makes the game great. Thank you so, so, much. I noticed that sadly there were no three word reviews. If I may be so bold as to offer one up: "DO NOT BLINK." It certainly got me through the toughest of tracks. Contemplating getting a PS4 just for Omega. Cheers, guys.

I cannot get through this episode because I keep pausing it to put the WipEout soundtrack on

Went to the launch of the WipEout Futurism book even having not played the game much. Never owned a PS1 but would have a quick go at mates’ houses. Felt like such a culturally significant game even at the time. Seems like a visual representation of “the future rushing in”, something Mark Fisher wrote about it relation to jungle, drum n bass Definitely going to get the Omega Collection for PS4. Thanks all

Was playing a bit of Doom 2016 this morn btw and was just thinking, WipeOut was to late 90s electronica what Doom was to thrash metal

Looks to be an iconic game, & loving this episode! Ryan unknowingly dropped the hardest tongue-twister of the modern era with “The ships are such simple shapes.” Also, I’ve now added “Firestarter” by the Prodigy to my Apple Music master playlist; it’s so good!
