By the time Kingdom Hearts had come out I had already sold my PS2 as I was 20 at the time and felt like I was growing past gaming at the time. Then Kingdom Hearts came out and as a lifelong Final Fantasy fan it most definitely intrigued me. I was working at Wal-Mart at the time ( my first job) and every time I walked past electronics I looked at the game. I ended up getting fired from that job and with my last check bought a new PS2 and Kingdom Hearts with it to have something to do until I found a new job and I must say this game was exactly what I wanted it to be. It was fun, colorful, innovative and graphically beautiful for its time period. This was the game that pulled me back into gaming and I’m still playing games to this day. Thank you Kingdom Hearts for reminding why I love gaming. I would recommend this game to anyone that likes action RPGs the first is a little rough nowadays thanks to the camera and jumping systems but it’s still a lot of fun with a lot of Heart (and darkness)!

Thank you for that. I really enjoyed this podcast. Leah is a great host. I don’t get to listen to her hosting often as she covers games I want to play in the future

IIRC, it was actually James Woods who insisted that they weren't allowed to replace him as Hades because he enjoyed the role so much.

~~~~Don't read if you're playing along for the first time/don't want spoilers~~~ Haven't completely finished the podcast, but I am a little worried that "Nobodies" are mentioned, when we don't learn anything about them until (chain of memories?) KH2. In the feedback there's at least 1 person coming to the game fresh, so I wouldn't want them robbed of things to come. I don't want to say too much more beyond it's spoilers. EDIT: finished the pod. I enjoyed it, but just to make sure I'm pointing this out well, when Leah is talking at 1:26:55 I feel that's too much of a spoiler. The rest of the podcast is pretty innocuous. Also unrelated, I've been super busy but C&R has been good as always, been meaning to say the chemistry on the Outer Wilds pod was particularly good
Brian's summary was brilliant. Really nice perspective on a game that gets a lot of ridicule. I also enjoyed Ryan's more objective-sounding analysis of the game's successes and failures. Great contrast in commentaries. Based on the fantastic easter egg at the end, and the way music played during the intro (great touch!), I'm guessing Ryan also edited this podcast. I felt I didn't hear his voice too often during this episode so I really hope he's not cut out the bulk of his own input as a result of past feedback. Also please don't skip Chain of Memories if this series gets further coverage!
I haven’t played Kingdom Hearts and have no interest in doing so, but it’s very much to the panel’s credit that I enjoyed every second of this show! It’s just a shame that you’re not doing the whole series
Ben
Brian’s comments about how this game came out around a time where he was beginning to step out of the shadow of feeling some sort of shame for being an adult gamer kind of hit home for me. I don’t know what it’s like for the you ger generations, but I feel like I am part of the last generation where a lot of people still kind of view gaming as a “kiddy” activity. Admittedly it’s better today, but I never hid my gamer background and there are still times where people seem to judge the hobby fairly harshly (definitely ended more than a few dates, for instance). No one seems to be bothered by my love of film or reading things like viking sagas, but if I mention gaming there are going to be opinions. I always just hope that they’re more positive than not.
I have more feedback, but again, busy trying to finish off this course and start the next program, but shame on y'all for not playing KH2 lmao.
Never had the opportunity to play this title growing up, so loved hearing all about it. Especially enjoy these episodes where I’m going in blind!
