It is 100% emotional cheating. I was in a similar situation with my husband, his actions caused me to seek out the attention from someone else that I wasn't getting from my partner. It brought out a lot of our issues and thankfully we were able to work on then...anytime you seek any support from someone who isn't your partner, you are cheating. I still think they bring in the fringe therapists for entertainment and the serious therapists are doing most of the real work in private sessions.
