🔶UPDATE: I couldn't have selected a worse day to launch this video, with headlines all discussing BMW's seemingly bullish EV plans.
Seemingly bullish bc these plans leave me unimpressed :
🔸saying plans of 50% EVs in 2030 will be achieved earlier was expected (all OEMs will make plans more aggressive every year or two, as exponential adoption changes the slope of their linear thinking. In this case also finding out that even Toyota is bailing out on them)
🔸That's still later than most OEMs
🔸Talking Mary Barra Bullish is cheap but ACTIONS still show BMW trying to change legislation to allow E-fuel ICE after 2035 - NOT what I'd expect from a company embracing EVs.
🔸And while they do plan a dedicated EV platform 2 years from now, they are currently still using a good-for-everything uktimate-compromise platform, then once the new platform is out they will start climbing its learning curve while others are already way up
Regardless, I might have to alter the video a bit before making it public. If so, will post the updated version here first, with pointers to what changed🔶

In this video I try to answer why leaders of the traditional world –  like BMW and Toyota - become dead-last laggards once disruption arrives.

It's a seemingly illogical story, as it shows how BMW's destiny was pre-written years ago, but watch how the dots connect and I'm sure you'll see it that way as well.

The story starts with something from my October 2022 Patron newsletter –  but that's just the beginning of it, because going deeper down this  rabbit hole uncovered a more profound truth. It's one of my favorite  videos – I hope you like it too.

My next video will return to Tesla and engineering, as I hope to answer a  big question regarding Cybertruck which AFAIK nobody else manages to  answer yet 😉

The recording was finalized over a week ago, so shoutouts for patrons  arriving after that will appear in the next video.

Let me know what you think!

Connecting The Dots

Checked BMW's announcements regarding EVs before 2030. Pic seems VERY different from what headlines say. Adding a new chapter to the video. - soon

Tony Fragiacomo

Any companies pumping money into hydrogen tech will fail. IMO of course. 🙂 Interesting video. Chris Bangle was definitely ahead of his time. Oh, and Model 3 LR driver here. 3 year lease. Now I want the performance version even though I don't need it.. 👍
