There's just no way one can justify adding filler to probably one piece hypest ever moment. Actually Quite ridiculous!!!

I think most people here want you to switch to manga (im an anime fan and manga reader tho) Maybe a poll would be nice so you have an idea how many fans wants you to switch to Manga (You don't need to decide based on that but it would be nice to know the percentage)

They did have no choice. This chapter did only have 13 pages and they only were able to adapt 10 of them at max so that the anime doesn't catch up to the manga. So a filler scene which is actually canon but only got offscreened in the manga is better than dragging these 10 pages for 23 minutes

My biggest issue with the Anime isn't the filler in itself but what Toei aka. the scriptwriter for the Episode chooses to extend.. you feel me? Filler in itself is not bad.. there are multiple ways to extend an Episode in a good way. It just depends on the Scriptwriter + Director in this Episode :( A very good Scriptwriter and Director could make you watch this Episode with Filler and you would enjoy it like 1015.

Either take the filler and accept it. Or 2. toei forces itself to abide by the manga, and has shitty animation as a result of trying to fit the manga fight into anime as intended

Well, we can only accept it lol Making Anime 1:1 like the Manga is impossible and not very good in the long term production. But in my opinion, Toei could have placed the Sanji moment differently (maybe towards the End). Its neither good or bad.

To be honest I was manga only til I watched the greatness of your reactions 5 years ago. I just watch the current anime through your reactions here. I would recommend to start reading manga specially now that anime is weekly unlike before where you can binge. Also to avoid spoilers. I'm 100% sure you'll find the same satisfaction like when you're reading Kingdom. Anime will have it's moments but pretty sure Toei will add some shit that maybe is not canon. A good example is King Recon, he reads manga too and does anime reactions for some episodes. I love his reactions, I feel it's genuine even though he reads manga. In the end, I will support you no matter what. Much Love from the Hi Shin Unit lol

Sadly that's why i only can enjoy your reactions and not every OP episode on itself. There are many, many many filler moments which ruin the flow. Cutaways, additions which even make characters seem stronger or weaker. There js definitely good filler though, like adding battle scenes which the manga cuts bcs of space reasons. But mostly it's the bad type. Toei is milking OP too much. Obviously they can't add lore because Oda wouldn't allow it, it would change the story, so they go with anything to extent the anime.

I understand but they are also stalling for episode 1017. the animation and directing is being more prioritized in ep 1017 then 1016.

This is why I would say you shouldn’t read the manga. You love the anime, and if you read the manga the more nitpicks you will have with the anime.

Or they could have just extended Roofpiece. Nobody cares about what Sanji or anyone else is doing when Roofpiece is happening.

I've been saying this for a long time, but One Piece should be a seasonal anime. Let the manga get ahead, make 24 episodes with good pace, wait, repeat. I can't even bring myself to watch 20 minutes of something that shouldn't be any longer than 8-10 minutes

@rokitup it’s all over Twitter. Animators typically hype up episodes when the production behind them is crazy. 1016 unfortunately did not have a lot of resources at its disposal resulting in the Sanji filler and some lackluster scenes. 1017 is shaping up to be one of the series best action entries so it should more than make up for it

I would recommend sticking with the anime for now. Not every anime episode will be to the level of the manga but the majority of upcoming episodes are gonna be amazing in the anime. Also I love seeing you read the manga chapter after watching the episode!

technically sanji scene was an anime-canon scene...that is they don't exist in manga, but in anime, they exist as filler scene that serve to build-up what's coming now, like you and many others, I also did not enjoy sanji scene, because when roof-piece is happening, you can't give us this bs but they don't have any choice in this...one piece is weekly anime...that means, not every week, they'll be able to pump up good quality episodes...they have to prioritize certain weeks/episodes like episode 1015 and 1017...so they decided to save the budget/animators for episode 1017 and milk this episode also, the manga currently moving at lightning speed pace, meaning there are tons of things oda don't draw on the pages or decide to off-screen a lot of things...he does this to get the manga moving + to have the anime fill-in these scenes + he wants to end the manga in 5 years, so he's speeding things up so I would rather have stupid sanji scenes instead of fighting scenes that are animated poorly...actually the sanji scene wasn't that bad...they gave some insightful scene like when Black Maria says you'll ditch women for your dreams or if u wanna escape, it's really easy: just go and kick me which we all know sanji won't do or her saying how sanji managed to come this far with his ideology of not hurting women at any circumstances and that must be due to his friends....all of this I believe wasn't in the manga but it helps building up the story...i would say it was just unfortunate to be put beside roof-piece and I already said how they're saving budget for top-quality fights

yeah I get that it has to be in the anime for filler but I dont know why it had to be in the middle of the episode though. they could have put it at the end of the episode or at the start and it would make the flow of the episode better

i thnk in the beginning would have better...but then again it would break the flow from last episode which also would piss off people end? again it would piss off people since we gonna cut away from gear 4 luffy vs kaido it's a really shit situation...no matter what they'll do, it would piss off people
