Hello there, sweet, kind, gentle Ones٩(^‿^)۶,

I've got a few minutes before I need to be out the door and wanted to do a real quick check in.

Yesterday I went to the house to clean and my only goal was to make this room a little better. This is the one that was in the dark on the video.

It's Obaachan's room and theoretically doesn't need to be tackled, but last week when they tried to put in wifi, they couldn't. House too old. But they said they can just drill a hole near an air conditioner and do it that way. Her room is closest to the electricity poles outside, so...

But while I was in the entryway, feeling a little glum, I heard a man whistling outside. It was very beautiful, melodic. I threw open the door and looked out. He stopped. Couldn't see anyone. A little creepy. But then I looked up and saw the very top photo on this post.

Let's zoom in. W(`0`)W

I can literally (on a clear day) see Mount Fuji from my front door. Woah. Just woah. That got my energy up!

Four hours later:

I did fill about six big garbage bags, but all those futons and blankets are now just stacked in the entryway. I need to find a place to recycle them.

I also found gorgeous photos of my mother-in-law.

I sent these to my ex and brother-in-law and even they were shocked.

I also found these. Does anyone know what they could be. I will totally do a search as soon as I post this. But they were mysterious. And I opened them. One was empty...

The other has this in it...balled up piece of tissue.

Oh. Gawd.

No. I didn't open it. But I did sit there and think of all the horrors it could be. Tooth? Bone fragment? Kidney stone? Diamond? What? What??!!

I have a side recording gig I have to do today. I'll be back in the house tomorrow and will steel my nerves and open it. So I'll let you know.

After finding the bottle of old pee, I'm a little nervous about opening anything now.

I'm also going to record some more Pillow Book and I have a podcast idea a little out of the ordinary, but I kind of want to do it, especially before I leave this house. Since I still have recording area set up here. Wishing everyone a Happy Setsubun~👹🫘

This is what I put together five years ago. I was ambitious.

Yesterday, I was just too beat and my foot hurt, so stopped by and snagged these beauties and cut them in half.

Wishing all the onis out of your life and all the good luck in~💕

Wonderful. There is no better feeling that giving a house a good clean and freeing up space, drawers and hopefully giving items a new home. When I lived in Yokohama, on the 50th floor, my bedroom looked right across to Mt Fuji and I’d see it almost every day (it would have to be very stormy not to see it). I remember my first morning walking up and opening the blinds and there he was, Fuji Sama. I think I squealed with delight. Then I started work a few weeks later and my lab window also looked out to Fuji!! It never got old (almost as nice as the Dundee Law in my hometown). I now have a tattoo of an oni on my forearm. Do i need to throw beans at it? LOVE these slice of life stories and videos. All the best!

Obaachan is so beautiful! Are those small coin purses you found? I remember back in the 80s my Nan having something like it. She'd put a few coins in one for me to spend when we went to do 'the messages' or visit the local Cafe for a soda spider. I felt so grown up.

Messages!!! I assume your nan is Scottish. I remember some Aunts having wee purses like that but they were for holding packs of cigarettes but these look too small for that. Love the idea of a child getting a wee purse of coins so they can go buy sweeties 🍬

My Nan was first gen Australian but both her parents were Scottish, but we've kept a few scottish quirks. It really was fun.

It feels like it might be cliche' but you are so right, just seeing it there, so majestic, never ceases to amaze me. My son lived in Mishima during his university days and it was even CLOSER!
