...and those honks aren't car honks either. From around the eight minute mark you can hear a bird in the fields calling out. I'm guessing it's an egret because I see them in the field munching on frogs sometimes. It was already too dark to see when it showed up, so if anyone can identify that woop woop woop sound please let me know. It was pretty cool.

I've been meaning to get this out. Richard is super busy learning audio stuff and keeps forgetting to do the last minute touches on this (listen to whether it needs compression, normalizing, limiting, all those fun things). I decided to stop bugging him and do it myself. I hope it sounds okay. I'm in no way the perfectionist he is.

This was recorded behind the house right after the farmer flooded his fields and planted the first couple tanbo with rice. It's raining a little so pops on the umbrella. Oh, and it was recorded exactly as dusk turned into dark. That explains the cars still on the road in the distance, but also the slow ramping up of frog songs. At the end a frog like right next to me chimed in. Scared the crap out of me. No jump scares, but that little guy was loud.

The photo was taken pretty close to when I recorded.

I always get excited when new soundscapes get released because it’s almost “imported” sounds that you can’t get anywhere else! Always love these.

Thank you! We're actually looking into upgrading our gear a little and getting more serious about recording the binaural pieces. I want to go out and try and find some ushi gaeru (cow frogs...but really just enormous bullfrogs). They have a sound that will make you pee yourself when you first hear it. I was looking forward to recording the summer festivals, but I just learned they've all been canceled due to the virus. Going to have to stick with nature sounds for awhile.

Ah, this was so soothing to listen to!

Thank you, Dana. I'm feeling the urge to go for a ride into the mountains and get some minus the traffic in the background.

Your recordings are the soundtracks of many of my evenings. The pic helps set the stage. Thank you so much!

I think you're on to something with the high quality "audio experience" thing. Can imagine seasonal audio scenes spanning all hours of the day night with pics and drawings. Your content is great.

I love these! Look forward to listening later.

Not sure who's making the "woop woop woop" sound. It's really beautiful. Most egrets have a song that is dry, nasally and sounds a lot like Donald Duck. I'll have to do more investigating. Love the frogs!

Woah, thank you, Sherry! Now my interest is especially piqued. I just looked up herons, too, because they show up sometimes. Different. Holy crap...please let it be something totally cool, like a kappa...lol

This was fun for me. I listened to this as I worked in the field so I got to work out some Japanese farm fantasy of mine, which is a little odd because the actual sounds at our farm aren't terribly different. But hey, as a white, middle-aged American male, my fantasies are going to be either odd, immature or creepy, so let's here it for odd.

What a cool audio experience! I listened from my hammock, backyard in the Pacific Northwest. About halfway through the clip my neighbor started up the lawnmower, haha back to reality 😊

Very peaceful and relaxing. I’m pretty sure 99% of my daily “soundtrack” here in NJ is the sounds coming from main highways.
