Akemashite Omedetou! Happy New Year! (Patreon)
Content
Or as all the cool kids say, Ake Ome!/あけおめ!
I wanted to post here earlier, like actually on New Year's Day, but Julyan drove in on New Year's Eve for a few days, and I've been busy catching up and cooking. Lots of cooking.
I wanted to share part of my New Year's Eve breakfast, ozoni (お雑煮). I loved that the mochi browned just perfectly. Unfortunately, you can't see the sato imo potatoes, pieces of chicken, hakusai cabbage, or red daikon I have buries in the soup.
Usually, ozoni is eaten with osechi for several days. Today I made it with no chicken but with miso. I liked it better, actually.
After Julyan came, at around 11:45 (just before midnight) I checked from the veranda and saw no one at all at my neighborhood shrine. So we popped over for a bit.
Here Julyan is peeking into the shrine. It's usually all dark and gloomy. Nice to see they had the lanterns out and the inside lit up.
And below are about half of my postcards I made and am coloring for patrons. I'll be getting those in the mail next week. Hoping to hear good news on the sending packages front while I'm at the post office.
I want to wish all of you a magnificent 2021! I think everyone needs a break, a little renewed energy, great health, and to be filled with great bursts of creative goodness.
There is so much that I want to do this year and share with you. Thank you always for lifting me up, encouraging and supporting, and just being all around awesome. Thank you!
XO,
terrie
