I found the above photo of a bathroom on the grounds of a temple nearby. No, I didn't take it. But I also didn't go into the Ladies Room to check what that one looked like. So I need to make another visit to make sure they're equal opportunity Toilet God. I really love this. Wanted to share.

But that has nothing to do with anything, really.

A catch up:I've been quite slammed with deadlines, and stressin'. But (!) I just finished the Asahi Newspaper 12-part story and sent it in yesterday. That was the big thing I said "Yes" to even though I knew I didn't have time for it. But it feels great to be finished. Although I suspect the story might be a little too weird for the newspaper. I'm waiting for editor feedback. A little nervous. I had been writing for up to eight hours a day in 30-minute increments and my brain began going to mush somewhere along the way. All that to say, I'm going to record November's Bedtime Story this weekend and put it up. Then December's will come a little bit later in the month. I've got all of November's postcards finished, but I'm going to do what I did last time and send two months' worth at once. So November and December will go out in an envelope with a letter and...?? Because literally not a single letter was returned to me last time. Where before I was getting a dozen or more postcards sent back. I'll try and send earlier in the month, too.

Also, to celebrate getting most of the deadlines met (I missed a couple personal writing ones, darnit), I'm dragging Richard to a gorge that should be filled with gorgeous autumn foliage and then a shrine that has hundreds of kitsune statues. I've never been to either, so I'm really excited.

Richard (who used to be photographer in his youth, but had been hanging on to his old camera for 20 years or more) bought himself a new Canon. Not super expensive, but nice enough that we're going to try and get some video for you all.

I still have the gimbal I bought, so he's going to use that and see if we can put together some nice immersive clips.

We've been watching what's up on Youtube and studying it and think we can offer something at least as good, hopefully a little different and fun.

Everyone stay well. I'll be back this weekend with the Bedtime Story and a little later with some video of our day trip, fall foliage and foxes! 🍁🦊

XO,

terrie

"I had been writing for up to eight hours a day in 30-minute increments..." I think MY brain turned to mush, reading that! WHAT!?

I'm so happy that you're 'busy' with work! May good things continue to follow you!

It's my own darned fault. I couldn't really concentrate because I was so nervous about a talk I had to give. So I kept putting it off. The only problem was after the talk I only had a week and a half to write the story. Good news is the editor just wrote back and really likes the story! I could cry. 😭

That's GREAT NEWS!! 🙌✨ I am impressed that your brain can create plot and character development when writing in 30 min bursts. FOR 8 HOURS. Such cognitive endurance! 💪

A wee bit I had outlined the overall story arc. I scrawled out 1~12 and knew where I wanted to start and where I wanted to finish, plus some exciting in the middle stuff. So the plot/bones of the story was somewhat on paper. Characters and all the details and keeping in mind this is for non-native English speakers, trying to balance that was the tough part. When I sat down later on the couch to read something before bed, my eyes were literally crossing 😲. They couldn't focus.

Congrats on finishing the story and what a great bathroom picture! I need to add this to my Japan “must go” list (which has now taken on a whole new meaning)!

😂 Well, if you got to go, better to go in style. Or if you can go at all with some bit scary-looking god looking down on you.
