Hello! Is everyone still awake? I hope so and I hope you're getting ready to go to bed or take a nap, because new story is ready. (#^.^#)

So January's Bedtime Story is a folktale from Okinawa. I looked everywhere, but couldn't find it anywhere else, so I'm guessing this is the first time it's every been translated into English.

Also, I kept very close to the original. I find that now that I'm writing my own stories again, I don't have the overwhelming urge to tweak plot points here. The story is called "Saru no Kuni" or "Monkey Country", perhaps "Monkey Kingdom" would work as well. But since there is a monkey king it didn't ring right: I'm the Monkey King of Monkey Kingdom. So I went with country.

A second thing, I mentioned at the beginning of the story that Richard has made a FORUM (yes, Old School forum) for Uncanny Japan. It makes a little more sense to us (we're old), as conversations don't get lost in threads and anyone can start a thread about their favorite Japanese author, musician, yokai, food, anything at all.

I think he's also making it so that it incorporates with Discord. I'm not sure the details yet. But it's pretty much going to work the same as Discord with the categories as they are and then a Patron Only area, too.

Here's the link I promised for that if you're interested.

Stay well, everyone, XO,

Terrie ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

Uncanny Japan -- Thersa Matsuura

Thank you for joining and starting a conversation. I'm still wandering blindly through, figuring things out. Everything's a learning curve to me!

Julian

This was a cute story. Thank you as always 😊
