Early Access Exclusive: This release is currently available only to Early Access patrons.

Visual Novel Maker turns your Foundry VTT session into a full visual novel experience. Write branching dialogues with a node editor, trigger them from the map with a single key press, and run live VN sessions with your players in real time.

๐Ÿš€ Key Features

๐ŸŽฌ Node-Based Dialogue Editor

Drag-and-drop node graph for writing branching conversations and choices.

Attach BGM, SFX, camera effects, character entrances, and more to any dialogue line.

Conditional branching with flags โ€” gate choices based on player decisions or GM-set variables.

๐Ÿ” Exploration Scene Editor

Draw interactive regions directly on a background image to create point-and-click investigation scenes. No map setup needed โ€” just a background and your mouse.

Each region can trigger sub-interactions, sound effects, item rewards, and flag changes.

๐ŸŽญ VN Stage

Full-screen overlay with character sprites, speaker nameplate, dialogue box, and background art.

Typewriter text animation with configurable speed.

Camera controls: zoom, pan, shake, and per-character focus.

Configurable scene transition effects.

Location text display.

Solo mode to spotlight a single character.

Expression switching and lip sync with per-expression open-mouth frames. Each expression can have its own lip-open image for accurate mouth movement.

APNG support for animated effects โ€” compatible with assets from Ccfolia and similar platforms.

Player voting on choices, with the option for players to suggest their own. No one sits and watches โ€” everyone participates.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Live Director Mode

Run VN sessions in real time without pre-scripting anything.

Add/remove characters, swap expressions, reposition them on stage, change backgrounds, trigger effects, and present choices on the fly.

Voice detection: the module automatically detects who is speaking on voice chat and highlights their character with lip sync. No extra setup required.

Chat integration: player messages appear in the VN dialogue box while the session is active. Players can participate without any special controls.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Map Interaction

Assign VN interactions to NPC tokens or tiles.

Players approach and press F to interact.

Proximity-based interaction prompts with customizable icons and text.

๐ŸŽจ 7 Built-in Themes

Default, Sci-Fi, Romance, Fantasy, Detective, Elegant, and Indigo. Each theme changes every UI element โ€” dialogue box, nameplate, choice buttons, system bar, and more.

Full custom theme support: use your own images to build a look that matches your world.

Separate customization for dialogue and narration text (font, size, color, style).

GM and player-level UI overrides.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Tools

Batch Crop Tool: crop and trim multiple expression images at once, directly in the browser. Useful when your character has dozens of expressions to prepare.

๐Ÿ”— Module Integration

Works with Cinematic Cut-ins for character entrance animations and scene presets.

Works with Unboxing the Mystery for interactive item and journal reveals mid-dialogue.

Works with Character Chat Selector for automatic character switching during live mode chat.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Technical Specifications

No Dependencies: Standalone module with an embedded socket library.

System Agnostic: Works with any game system in Foundry VTT.

Multiplayer Synced: All VN sessions are synchronized across connected players in real time.

Compatibility: Foundry VTT v13 & v14

Good morning, my name is Magu, I'm a user who uses your modules here in Brazil. All my players love both the mobile and cinematic aspects; I'm probably the only Brazilian who uses it to narrate a school drama here in Brazil. You deserve congratulations for continuing to bring more and more new features. My question is how do I create macros for the novel module?

Kalyskah

Not the only Brasileira!

The Glitch Smith

Hi, thank you for the kind words! To use macros in Visual Novel Maker: 1. Copy the ID of the macro you want to run (you can find it by right-clicking the macro and copying its ID) 2. Add a `Macro action` in your sequence 3. Paste the ID โ€” for example, if the full ID is `Macro.lwqcoAWMdTwQeJAt`, you only need the part after the dot: `lwqcoAWMdTwQeJAt` Let me know if you need any help!

This module is so COOL! It is truly amazing work, although I have a questions on if everyone gets put into the visual novel aspect with dialouge or if the person who interacted is the only one. Or if this is customizable

Looks awesome cant wait to save up to upgrade my membership to try out.
