I don’t know if you guys will mention this in the next episode but Scott coming out is a good start, but Ilya and Shane face unique challenges that are unlike his. As you mentioned, he’s older, but he is also dating a smoothie barista. Shane and Ilya have been dating their rival, both personal and team rival, so that is a whole different issue. Fans, management and teammates will wonder whether it affected their games, not only against each other but generally. Did they ever let the other one win? Did they ever throw a game to help the other out in the standings? All past and future losses would be scrutinized. They are also both the captains of their teams, would their teammates even trust them going forward? Being gay is almost secondary for Ilya and Shane, their relationship to one another, for literally their entire careers, is what the league is likely to have an issue with.

Tell me you don't understand yearning and romance without telling me you don't understand yearning and romance. 🙄 Like, what do YOU think Ilya is communicating to Shane in those moments, if not love and desire and connection? The longing looks and yearning comes when you desperately love and want to be with someone, but you can't be.

Maybe you'll appreciate this since you know hockey, but in the books Shane gets boarded. Making it an open-ice hit is very dramatic but not realistic as someone who genuinely watches hockey lol First time I watched this I was like "no no turn around you've got the puck in open ice 😭 head uppp"
