maybe i understand why PEOPLE SAY pell should have died, but i really dont understand why pell should have died. pell chose his action knowing death was possible, even likely, but does his survival diminish his sacrifice in the face of death? is pell less brave because he lived? why should we feel different about pell's sacrifice with hindsight of pell's survival?

This episode demonstrates why the guards and Charles should definitely be 100% dead but isn't, you can't just be wishy washy and inconsistent with what people can die or live from.

I think Pell should have died, does that take away from his bravery and sacrifice, no. I just think his death meant something and not just in the "sacrifice" way but in the potential growth for other characters and the realization that death is possible. That being said It's a minor critique of an overall masterpiece lol.

Masked CP0 agents are a tier above and essentially perform even higher CP9 tasks directly for the WG. The rest of the former CP9 members serve as strong tactical defenders of the Celestial Dragons specifically.

Zoan devil fruits have huge durability. One piece humans already have more durability than us folks as seen in everyone in the story. While from a narrative view it may have carried more weight for pell to die; from a canon view its just a bomb and zoan users have tanked way more. I dont understand how it seems far fetched considering everything else that has happened in the story

It is likely but I put my stocks on Oda saving him for a noble sacrifice in the endgame, as he should, and NOT because of the fans, but because it was the plan all along. I for one love that he survives (or at least I don't give a frick he lived).

I'll put it here, even though this is old. I've heard people talk about why the Elders were not more active in taking the Gum-gum fruit or in this instance, taking Shiraoshi. My read on it is that they chose secrecy and caution over a big play. If they tried either of those things and failed - they basically put a huge flashing light on the target saying "This is IMPORTANT." And their strategy up until now was the repression of information - keeping people ignorant. So they didn't want to risk people finding out gum-gum = Nika or Shiraoshi isn't just some cute princess.
