Sony's FE 70-200 F4 G OSS is one of Sony's first five Full Frame E-Mount lenses that they announced with the release of the original A7R and A7 cameras. Although often overlooked now for the GM versions this lens may still be the perfect light-weight 70-200 zooms lens for those wanting to work out of a small messenger bag. I have used it with a range of Full Frame and APS-C cameras. It's F4 aperture is considerably wider than the f/6.3 maximum aperture of the FE 70-300 G and E 70-350 G lenses.
The AF is quick enough for most photographers although not as quick as the latest Sony lenses using the super-fast XD linear AF motors. It is almost 50% cheaper than the 70-200 GM II and at 840 grams (1.85 lbs) almost 20% lighter than the GM II (35% lighter than the original GM). Some have told me that they didn't think the FE 70-200 F4 G was a sharp lens but, after taking a look at these DNG files, you may have to rethink this idea.
Other lightweight longer focal length options include the Batis 2.8/135 and and E 70-350 4.5-6.3 G OSS (Sony's premium APS-C telephoto zoom lens). Tamron also make some lightweight Telephoto zooms but often don't equip them with OSS (SteadyShot).

I am sharing these Raw files (in the DNG file format) so you can see how this lens stacks up on your own large high resolution monitors. I discard the ARW files after I have converted my hero files to the DNG file format. I use the DNG file format as the editing information is embedded within the file (rather than using a sidecar file) and the DNG file also contains my embedded copyright data (I don't like sharing Raw files without embedded copyright info as this has led to copyright disputes on two occasions). If you import the files into Lightroom they should load in their edited state. You may want to hit the Reset button to see how the files appear in the unedited state or take a look at how the files have been edited.
